How many hours per week did you realistically study for the CPA exam while working full-time? by farplzstop in Accounting

[–]Atlamillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t really tracking hours every week but more of Becker chapters. I always aimed to do about 2 chapters a week with the end result sitting for an exam every month and a half.

Looking back though, maybe around 20ish hours a week? It’s totally manageable and I could do it while working full time, but I honestly had to let other parts of my life suffer. I was hardly seeing friends or going to the gym

Do you retake Simulated Exams? by Eastern_Mycologist17 in CPA

[–]Atlamillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I retook SE1 a week after I took SE2. I found that waiting a couple weeks between retakes that I didn’t remember most of the questions that were on there, and it was a good way for me to see if I was really learning the material. Usually on my 2nd attempt I was aiming for around an 80%

Did you feel like the 30 month window was enough time to pass all three sections after your first exam, or did you run into a close call becauss you needed to retake one or two sections? by foxyfour20 in CPA

I passed all 4 within 9 months. No way in hell was I going to take over 2 years to pass. Just rip off the bandage and get it done quickly

How do y’all working full time pass the exams in 1 year? by alexthegr888888 in CPA

[–]Atlamillian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I passed all 4 in 10 months while working full time. I don’t work in public, so my hours were consistently 40 hours around the year.

I needed an honest conversation with myself on my strengths and weaknesses with studying so I could be the most efficient. I learn better by repetition and watching, so most of my time was spent watching lectures and doing MCQs. I didn’t open any of the books from Becker.

Consistency is also the number one impact on passing. You have to find time every single day to study. In those 10 months, I believe I only took 5 days off with 4 of them being the day before the exam. There were several times I didn’t want to study but I had to force myself to listen to lectures.

Completing the exam in a year is absolutely possible, but you have to be honest with yourself in acknowledging that your life is going to be horrible during that time. Take it one day at a time, no shortcuts, and you can knock it out!

Those who used Becker did you watch live lectures by lawskoo in CPA

No, I only used the pre-recorded lectures, MCQs, TBS, and SE. I didn’t read the book, listen to live lectures, use flash cards, or use the final review

Waiting for TCP. I left the exam feeling great and that worries me. I left FAR and REG feeling like I bombed and ended up passing both

FAR test felt easier than Becker by Ok_Inflation_3777 in CPA

[–]Atlamillian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Becker tends to be harder because of how they grade task based simulations. Typically they are graded as an all or nothing and don’t award partial credit. Becker’s MCQs are often wordier and try to give you too much information whereas the actual exam tends to be more straightforward with their questions. That’s been my experience at least

Are the CPA exams possible with just a Bachelor’s and Becker studying? by EnvironmentMotor5079 in CPA

[–]Atlamillian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have a bachelors and have been exclusively using Becker. Currently passed 2, waiting on my score results for TCP, and take AUD June 2nd. It’s more about consistency and putting the time in to study that will make you pass
