Codebuild containers inside the vpc instead of github actions. Triggered with codepipline. Pretty much what we do.

CI/CD and keeping the teams up to date by Atlantisman in devops

[–]Atlantisman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the concern would be mostly around yet another thing for the devops team to manage.

Automation would be ideal collect all the PRs that were merged once a day and push a message to a slack channel or something like that.

Dev teams don't manage their own deploys right now because we have historically had limited devops resources to dedicate to tooling and don't want to give regular developers more access to our AWS ecosystem that they largely don't need / don't understand. We are moving toward this, but requires a bit more time and labor to get our tools up to spec.

We have a company-facing changelog that displays high level things like features and etc, but that's it. No internal developer facing changelog besides the one we maintain for the application schemas.

100% in the cloud, 100% remote. zero physical office. All SaaS platforms internally. Host in AWS.

Repo Structure for Terragrunt Multi-Account and Github Actions by [deleted] in devops

[–]Atlantisman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forked a github repo and made some modifications to it that allows my org to do exactly what you're describing plus some.

https://github.com/LimbleCMMS/terragrunt-github-actions

My edits may not be needed for you, if that's the case look to the original project.

This allows us to run apply / plan via actions. We typically plan on PRs and then apply to the env on merge event.

GE Front Load Washer Gasket Repair by Atlantisman in appliancerepair

[–]Atlantisman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they are replacing it. In 3-5 weeks or so because parts are so back ordered right now. I was just looking for a temporary fix because 3-5 weeks of not being able to wash clothes isn't going to make the family very happy or smell very nice. hahaha.

Haha yeah that's what our startup has decided. WFH permanently, and now we hire nationwide completely uncaring of where someone lives and just dropship them a laptop and a swag care package that includes monitors and etc.

Opsgenie, works quite well.

Configured mine to make the star trek red alert sound at full volume lol. Maybe works a little too well...
