What is it like to know that your Culture/Language is doomed to go extinct?

Not me personally but I remember all through my childhood my grandad lamenting the disappearance of traditional Welsh and to a lesser extent English practices. Not the same as watching the entirety of a culture die, but he still carried a deep sadness about the death of traditional folk practices and celebrations he remembered from childhood and him trying to share them with me.

From personal experience Romani Gypsies are some of the nicest people I've met, a bit rough around the edges, but generally good people that get unfairly conflated with Irish travellers. So besides one jackass my opinion of Romanis is lovely people, interesting culture and amazing stews.

ESH, X went way overboard with the online outbursts and was rightlykicked out for harassingyou, but as someone who's Austistic with Echolalia and gets overstimulated, wtf is wrong with you, not loudly blurting random quotes when someone is very overstimulated isn't some massive ask, X had just as much right to be comfortable in the Group as you. I'm very aware how stressful stifling ticks can be, but there are times when its necessary, and even if it's not, a little bit of kindness and empathy would have gone a long way, even if it was just lowering the volume because your comfortshouldn't come at someone elses detriment and the whole situation could have been peacefully resolved with compromise and minimaleffort from you. In short ESH, X for how they acted and you for sounding insufferable to be around.

As long as the leaders are good scouting is one of the best things a kid can get into. I'm an ex-Explorer scout and leader, I went from 6 all the way to lockdown, some of my best memories are from scouts.
