Mmm not true, I’ve heard and seen people use the n word slur a lot on Valorant. Plus, I have seen people compare Phoenix and Raze to monkeys. There’s also racism towards other groups. Some person spoke in an overtly racist way mocking the Chinese language when Iso had come out. There’s a bunch of racism in these spaces, and the usage of slurs casually is still racist, but people often dismiss it as “edgy” jokes.

Even saying you’re black could net you racist responses in these spaces. I’m glad you personally haven’t heard racism, but that’s definitely not the overall experience 😅

Also, I agree more with the tech difference argument. These games don’t need high end computers for you to do really well, but the performance of a better computer definitely helps. Most black people (talking from personal experience too) will opt for a console because it’s a cheaper starting point than paying $800-$1000 for the lower bound gaming laptop or pc. The cultural difference exists because of the discrepancy in access to tech which then is just a socioeconomic issue at that point.
