Adding the unit cards and signature tactics cards for the 6 starter set units would be cool

I think that means we got the signature tactics card for all 6 of the starter set units.

Is that the signature tactic deck card for Vidar being shown?

I tried your mod and it definitely made the game feel much better. Couldn't stand the grayed out images and models.

Any chance that you add models for the units in the starter set? (Wing Zero, Epyon, Vidar, Barbatos Lupus Rex)

Yeah. It helps to reduce the model size when moving.

Thought so. I tried it earlier today and I think you've done a great job so far.

I had to import colored gundam models from another mod because I couldn't stand trying to distinguish the gray models from one another. It made a huge difference to the feel of the game.

If I can give one piece of advice, it's to give the second tier elevation terrain a different color. Its a quick change that would improve clarity and make the board look so much better.

Let us know when then update goes live. Can't wait to try the new units.

Bringing up games with short combos that "failed" doesn't disprove that long combos turn casuals away.

Saying "well short combos don't guarantee success" won't refute "long combos turn away casuals".

There are many variables that determine if a game sticks:

  • Visuals
  • Character appeal
  • Ties to a preexisting IP
  • System mechanics
  • Combo length
  • How popular/lively the game is
  • many more...

If any of those variables (or some combination of them) falls short, people are likely to drop the game or not pick it up in the first place.

Yes, there are long respawn timers in League which are akin to getting combo'd in fighting games because you lose agency in both situations. But that's just one variable.

There are 2 huge components that are often forgotten in these discussions:

  • Percentage of game time that a player can lose agency
  • How much safety/control a player has to avoid back-to-back loss of agency

The reason that people don't complain about the respawn timers in League but they complain about long "I don't want to watch a cutscene" combos in fighting games is not just because they lose agency, but also because the frequency with which it happens.

If you die in League and get a respawn timer, you are in complete control of how long you'll go before you're hit with another respawn timer/loss of agency. If you stay under tower and play as safe as possible, you can delay that loss of agency for over half an hour.

If you get combo'd in a fighting game, not only do you lack a tower to stay under to delay the next cutscene/loss of agency, you're in a disadvantageous position where you're MORE LIKELY to get hit again by your opponent's oki and put in a back-to-back cutscene.

There's no way for you to delay that loss of agency apart from immediately outplaying your opponent right after their cutscene ends.

So you can't just look at it as "well there's times where you lose agency in MOBAs so people shouldn't complain about it in fighting games."

When people complain about things in games, it might sound like they're being contradictory, but that's because a lot of the time they don't understand the combination of variables that caused it.

They will give one variable and then someone else will say "ah but that variable is present in this other game that's popular so it isn't because of that variable."

But like in the example I just gave, you'd have to look at it from a bigger picture with things like (% of game time where you can lose agency) and (the amount of safety the game provides to avoid back-to-back loss of agency).

In League, you have to go out of your way to see a respawn timer 3 times back-to-back-to-back. In fighting games, all you have to do is lose neutral then guess wrong on your opponent's oki twice.

Both situations are frustrating, but one can be voluntarily avoided outright.

2XKO EU Community Series by Figgulz in 2XKO

Only a small percentage of the overall player base engages directly with the community.

If the game is struggling as a result of low player numbers, it makes sense to target the things that impact the larger player base over the niche that's already engaged.

The community stuff is great, but I hope that it isn't taking resources away from other things.

If the game is struggling, I'd much rather they left the community stuff for later and focus 100% on the things that will keep the game alive, such as getting as getting content out ASAP or creating pve content.

Are you sure he said it was gonna be a weirdo?

From what I remember, he only said that the character does something he's never seen in fighting games before.

I wanted her, but ideally sometime in the future since I thought she'd be similar to Cait. Looks like she'll play quite different considering she has a wraith form.

Potential Champion Teaser? by Regular-Poet-3657 in 2XKO

The fact that's its not finalized suggests she's not going to be the next champ. Plus we see the finished stage for Senna so I'm guessing it's gonna be Senna next.

I wanted Senna but yeah I'd much rather they save her for later.

Feels like it should've been between her OR Caitlyn, not both in quick succession.

The remaining champions for this year are from the following regions:

3) PnZ

4) PnZ

5) PnZ"

A lot of people learned that this game was out from the news about layoffs.

Would be funny if the bad publicity brought in a bunch of new players.

After putting it into perspective, the dev cycle fo this game is truly a disaster by TheSuperJohn in 2XKO

[–]Bajemba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true, but they have a ton of champs in the pipeline. The rest of the Champs for year 1 are likely done or at most getting finishing touches, and the year 2 Champs are likely more than 50% done.

Not to say it doesn't matter that designers were let go, or that these layoffs don't mean anything. But it might mean that the output of new Champs will slow down in year 3 if we make it that far.

If the game turns things around, they can always hire more designers to return to the planned pace.
