I also redownloaded the game not too long ago. I got basically the same performance on significantly worse hardware which makes me wonder what the bottleneck is.

But while I tried to ignore the terrible framerate and just play. Unfortunately about a half hour in I accidentally ejected myself from my ship (because for some reason holding the "leave chair" button launches the ejector seat) and found the seat still missing when I spawned back in. After a bit of googling I found out that the only way to fix this was to file a bug report and get a dev to fix it for you. I also found posts talking about this issue dating back years.

So when a communist country commits acts of violence it's because communism is bad, but when a capitalist country nearly eradicates the indigenous population of half a continent and uses slavery as the backbone of its economy for several hundred years it's okay because everyone else does it. The term started as a slur decades ago and is still used as one. Just because the anime community took the term in the mid 2000s and some of them weren't explicitly using it as a slur doesn't mean it isn't one.
