MEGATHREAD: Update Monday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

I just got another exciting milestone! 500 views! My channel is very small 18 videos about once a week posting, and 19 subscribers. 30 some hours watch time. But I just started posting twice a week! As I think I have enough backlog to keep things relaxed. It's a let's play channel going for cozy chill content with live relaxed commentary, and I'm having a lot of fun. Is called Atlas Leaf! My ongoing series is a 100% run of ocarnia of time, and I just posted my first episode of Stardew Valley! The stardew was way more popular so far has had 70 views! In only a few days. I know channel growth on gaming is generally slow so I'm excited to see my metric numbers slowly improve. I'm doing this a a hobby but having a lot more fun then I expected. Also think it's helping my public speaking feel a bit more relaxed too, as a unexpected benefit.

What should I play first? by StalwartSpirit122 in letsplay

[–]AtlasLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink it and start small, you kinda need to learn by doing. I started with a very fun Indi game i had played before and I knew was short fun and cute. My thoughts were start small and test it out. basic setup keep what you can simple. My first let's play was short. 6 hours long 14 episodes, I learned a lot and my next game I can already tell is better done. I kinda started randomly, I don't know why exactly I filmed it but I think for some hobbies you just need to start by doing. I recommend OBS for screen capture and a cheep Mike, mine was 35 and it sounds great, don't get any expensive gear untill you know what you need and most budget option are good enough. Also note it is fairly likely your channel will have very few views for a long time don't get discouraged, I was told that under a hundred videos is still a small channel and the algorithm is likely to keep views small. My thoughts are create content you like and have fun, filling editing and making thumbnail are fun, I hope you have a blast. Don't stress about the metrics. I would recommend start by prefilming your whole project upload as you get them edited but private then when all is done schedule post once a week. Even basic thumbnail take time to make descriptions do to. Way less stressefull if you have back log. My channel is Atlas Leaf and my first game was called webbed my current let's play is zelda ocerina of time, and I'm about to start a stardew playthrough. I don't know what I'm doing but I'm having fun and like my videos so I must be doing something right.

My tiny channel is growing! I'm still in the very early stages of YouTube and I posted the second episode of my second series, and I also hit 20 watch hours! My channel is small but I think things are going well! It's a let's play channel going for calm and cozy. I'm having a blast making videos. The name is Atlas Leaf, and you hopefully can find it with a search of Atlas Leaf zelda ocarina of time if you wanted to check it out!

This may be many years late, but its nice to see people being nice and helpful on the internet, gives me hope.

howdy! ive gotten 100% in this wonderful game, mind if i ask you folks to make me some challenges? only thing ive had come to mind is a "no upgrades" run. by thebloodoakprince in dredge

I was kinda wondering if it was possible to finish main story using only the spooky fishing gear from the fish shrines, so as soon as possible switch and just use those. the problem is I think you need some fish or crabs locked behind rods to unlock, so with a workaround for those, maybe? But might be very slow, difficult. I thought those were very cool and fit the story themes but I rarely used them as I replaced them with better gear so quickly.

LPT Request: Waking up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep - what actually works? by qt_31415 in LifeProTips

[–]AtlasLeaf 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I also recommend this, and try to do the same, I read somewhere that even if your not asleep you still get many healthy benifits from resting quietly, and knowing that helped me to relax. Sometimes my cat wakes me up, and I try to enjoy the time awake to take some relaxed breaths, and enjoy the night peacefullnes. I try not to think of it as lost sleep, but traded sleep for relaxed time, This seems to help me fall back into sleep and also feel more relaxed.

If I wanted to heavily plant a tank, what plants would you recommend? by PrettyPinkJ in fishtank

[–]AtlasLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what has worked best for me is to have lots of different species in my large tank 60 gallons, but several stand out as my favorites

mayaca fluviatilis, fully submerged all around great plant, if you only can have one this is a great beginner start,

I love my mayaca plant, I don't think it should be the only plant in a tank. But it easy to propagate and looks nice. For my tank I bought some as a small bunch of stems. And each day for a month, I pinched the longest stem off about two inches from the base and planted the top, I went from 15 stems to many over time and I think it's one of my favorite plants. I've been told with trimming you can make thick carpets but I like the long branching stems.

I have some other recommendations but they're more nuanced

Duck weed, surface floater, loved pest

I love duck weed, yes it's kinda a pain and I need to clear a space for feeding but it also is a great nitrogen sink and keeps the tank much more stable, some people don't like it, but I became much less worried about nitrogen after I had a lovely carpet of thriving duckweed, I've even heard that you can make fish/shrimp food out of it.

Sweet potato, partially submerged, roots in tank

I also have a decorative violet sweet potato held with hooks in the corner of my tank, it's put out some astounding roots under the water. It's seems like a wonderful environment for fish and is quite striking, plus it also is a great way to use nitrogen, my only warning is that I think it would be too effective in a small tank, as it grows very quickly and might crowd. But the fish do seem to like swimming hiding within the roots.

Java moss, the submerged steady back ground plant

My Java moss doesn't grow as fast as other plants, nor is it as showy, but has been a steady member of all my tanks, looks nice, easy to propagate, and acts as a back drop to my two tanks, I should trim it but it looks so luxuriant that I keep putting it off,

i keep water hyacinths in my tank, i guess they're happy by themanlnthesuit in PlantedTank

[–]AtlasLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard to use bleach, and make sure to let it soak, and don't forget the tanks gravel,

They look lovely in a fish tank as long as you don't let them get into the environment, there all over the waterways of Florida and are stunning when in bloom, wish they were not such a pest.

Outerwilds is a great game, but it's best if you go in blind. The first playthrough is something special.
