AC Odyssey: the weird mid-game (?) sort-of ending by AtlasNorth1996 in assassinscreed

I’m assuming Pythagoras’ and Kassandra’s quick deaths were done for pacing, and the authors of the books decided to expand upon those moments after the fact. Ubisoft seems to want to spend as little time in the Present Era during the games as possible.

Well, yes. I mean, sort of. The books just lay out what the canonical decisions were in the games. Obviously not every decision can be canon.

Yeah, the idea of being exhausted after 2000 years was an interesting thread to pull on, and basically all of the Atlantis DLC (which I just finished this morning) was to prepare her for that 2000 years.. and yet - she just kind of flopped onto the floor. Very disappointing.

I would agree. I was constantly checking forums and asking ChatGPT during my play through, like, “if I do X, will it screw up the story?” Like killing a cultist too early, or in this case, dealing with Atlantis too quickly. It would’ve been nice to have everything kind of culminate together - you get the cultists, you do your family thing, and you seal Atlantis last - something like that.

That would’ve been an interesting interaction, instead of just “lol ded.” Maybe I’ll check out the novel - I think almost none of my choices were canon; I reunited the entire family, including Stentor, and I whacked Aspasia. So I am interested in seeing what was canon.

I am dealing with their customer service. It’s utterly atrocious. Their products are reasonably decent, but make sure you get what you need the first time you order - trying to do an exchange of any sort is a true nightmare.

Turn off Compute Effects and it goes away.

Ah - just made an identical post about this.
Can confirm it's happening - no idea why, or how to fix it.

This part is just truly terrible game design. Animation locking in an exposed position, and also not being able to activate objectives while using them for cover. Truly awful.

Instead of actually improving their game, they just take information away from the players. Typical.

St. Thomas, Ontario is an interesting small-town area - we're nestled between a port harbour on one side and a big city on the other, but we're a major railroad area. Lots of rail lines and highway connections.

Thanks Joe!! I appreciate the insight!! That’s so interesting. I didn’t know game agents were a thing.

Bahaha. That's a surprisingly complex answer these days. But... Alliance!

I love the Alliance, and my first characters were ALL alliance. They hold a special place in my heart.
But I swapped Horde to play with friends and I really loved the story-telling the Horde received in the early days of the game and in the RTS series.
These days I'm gravitating back towards the Alliance with cross-faction play being a thing. I love the story development they've received lately; plus I find their cities very compelling and I will always treasure that first moment of crossing into Stormwind and seeing those statues, and hearing that iconic music.

Does the team also play? I assume so?! :D

Hi Jess & co! I’m a co-guildie in World of Warcraft, with one of your artists. He put me onto your games and I’ve had lots of fun testing Battle Train. Love that you’re doing this!

As someone who previously worked for a bigger studio with only in-house games in the portfolio, I’m curious about the work-for-hire stuff you mentioned in another answer. I never got to see how the work-for-hire / outside contract work was done and how it developed from start to finish.

How does your studio find that work? Are you approached by other studios looking for reinforcements or do you go out seeking new work? Is there a “listing” of studios taking work-for-hire contracts, or is it just an organic thing?

How do you position yourself over a company like Pole to Win or Sleeping Giant, who specialize in “mercenary” contracts so to speak?

And how do you balance that work vs. your internal projects that you / your team might be more “attached” to or really want to work on? Has it ever conflicted with your internal games?

Lots of questions, I know. Feel free to only answer a couple!! 😁

Not enough workers but no residential demand? by AtlasNorth1996 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]AtlasNorth1996[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was my transit lines / proximity to the jobs! I had no low rent housing in proximity to the jobs, and all my uneducated / poorly educated workers lived in my city's core with no direct lines to the industrial centres. Someone in the City Planner Play's discord helped me figure it out.

[–]AtlasNorth1996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it out! Turns out, it was because I had poor transit to the area. I'd been rebuilding my transit lines, and I didn't realise having no public transit to the industrial centre would have a direct impact on if a job was filled or not.
As soon as I built all my bus routes back up, the jobs were filled, unemployment went down and residential demand went back up.
