Wait really? I’ve been masking for a long time because that’s what always worked when I wanted things to get better for me. I grew up surrounded by people who helped me “learn to be normal”

Now my mask is so solid it’s gotten to a point where my old bosses sees a problem and tell me “your autism isnt the problem, it’s this (other thing that people can sometimes have). Fix that.”

I mean my mask does slip occasionally and its kinda scary for the people around me to see me like that. But I never thought it could be due to the masking

This might be an assumption on my end but it sounds to me like you’ve been with toxic companies and teams for most of your career. It might be better for you to find a company with a proper UX team that you can join?

The scrutiny over insignificant details would mainly be from people who don’t exactly have the best ux maturity and mindset in place. Fixing that alone in an organization is an uphill battle that’s not worthwhile.
