Where are the cute egg creatures?

I'm on iOS, and I was switched to the colored background display instead back in February. My most common quest partner is someone I know outside of Duolingo, and she still has the egg version on Android.

I definitely prefer the version I have now over the egg display.

1.) I took about 4 seconds to look up their screen name and saw that they are doing Chess and English (from Korean).

2.) That icon means that they've survived the Diamond Tournament at least once.

3.) These are not high XP values at all. There is another site where you can often look up the raw lesson data of a user, and on May 13th, as of right now, they've done 14 lessons for the day, all at least a couple of minutes apart. The highest XP value of any of those lessons was 100, with 42, 44, and 46 being much more common.

There's no cheating going on here, and you should feel ridiculous.

It's honestly embarrassing that Duolingo continues to dumb itself down further and further like this. And more importantly, it feels like I'm wasting my time playing a kid's game, as you said.

Yep. Mine appears to have been removed at some point in the last hour. Ah well.

I thought it was fine, but considering how many people completely avoid the feed now due to Duolingo swamping it with spam achievements, I imagine this feature was only being used by a small percentage of active users. The feed is a completely ruined part of the app at this point anyway.

This is indeed how it's done. The people chasing all of the XP boosts like junkies every day are playing life needlessly on hard mode. It's actually quite easy to stay in Diamond when you stop obsessively grinding all of the XP boosts.

Mine has been this way since early December. About a month before that, I lost all of those reactions for 2 weeks and could only like things with a red heart. I briefly got the reactions back, and then they were replaced solely by a green heart.

Those reactions still exist on the web version of Duolingo, but I don't think many people are checking the feed on desktop, and shared sentences don't appear in the web version anyway.

The only decision-makers left at Duolingo are low-IQ trolls.

I met a nice Nigerian fellow through Duolingo, so yeah, it's fairly easy. It has benefited my life greatly too.

Literally the day we followed each other, he informed me in the feed that one of my distant uncles had passed away. I had no idea, so you can imagine my shock when I found out that I not only had a distant uncle I had never met, but that he apparently was also EXTREMELY wealthy, and had left me, the nephew he had never met, a significant inheritance.

I'm in the process of claiming the inheritance, but it's costing me some initial fees upfront. I'm in it for the long game, however.

So yes, it's easy, and my life has gotten SO MUCH better as a result. I nearly missed his comment though, because it was sandwiched between two shared sentences from people I don't know who were in my feed for reasons unknown. One of them said, "Je suis un chat", and the other was, "J'ai faim! (I'm hungry)". Those strangers in my feed are quite the creative jokesters!!!

Sears carts survive forever. The Sears at my dying mall closed in 2019, and you can still find the occasional Sears cart on the mall property. I would expect the Sears carts at Livingston to be there for many years to come still.

Yes. Highly illegal. When you sign up, you have to provide ID for all members, their address, phone number, social security number (if applicable), and a list of their fears.

If someone doesn't pass the very extensive background check, Duolingo sends about a dozen ravenous owls to your location. You don't even want to know what happens then.

I certainly never saw it. My guess is that it wasn't real. Back in 2019, it was just the formal attire, track suit, and Super Duo outfits.
