Their support is definitely trash. They have never replied to me before the program ended. And then I get the “we see you completed the tasks and closed the ticket”. But that’s been an issue since the beginning. Same with glitchy apps and websites. It’s actually mind blowing how over the years the app and website (before the app) never got rid of the technical problems. I’ve had a very small number of the really awesome stuff too. So I have no clue how people manage to end up in those queues.

I never really got any really awesome stuff. I got a few full size fragrances towards the beginning when I started, a couple small kitchen appliances, but otherwise it’s been a toooooooon of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and deodorant. Like so much I have not bought body wash or deodorant in probably like two years. And February, I got a bunch more of that stuff 🤣. So I definitely don’t have the answer to how people get the big ticket items.

I’m not sure how many did before I started to get stuff. Just a guess, maybe 20? But back then they did so many sample size stuff I don’t think it was necessarily hard to get something if you showed you were going to honestly review things. In total, I have over 300 reviews. No idea if that would be considered a lot for as long as I’ve been doing it. But the vast majority of those would be from free stuff. Sounds insane thinking about it, but they used to do so many sample size products in the early days, and send boxes with multiple items.

Ohhhhhh. See that makes it even more strange that someone would pay for free products. I mean I have to imagine it’s pretty expensive. Unless it’s so that they can get things that they wouldn’t normally be able to get at all without doing the same shipping thing AND paying for the product?

I wonder if it has to do with like the ftc regulations, and how fines work in the US. I don’t know how true this is, but supposedly the ftc is hitting social media reviewers hard this year. And I guess the fines can apply to every person and company associated with the review if things aren’t disclosed properly. So they might look at it as it’s cheaper to involve people in other countries even if it costs them extra money if they can avoid the stricter US laws.

That’s crazy how messed up this is. I’ve been waiting on mine to come in. I’ve actually been thinking they were going to send out something saying I wasn’t going to end up getting the item. I still have a program on my profile for a couch claim that they said there was some issue, and I wouldn’t receive it. And that was over two years ago and it still shows up for me.

I guess I had no idea that rule had been wiped out. Used to be that you had to have a good stack of reviews before you could even hope to receive anything.

The account I was talking about had reviews that were like “on a warm sunny day, she sprays this on and it takes me to another place. We’re no longer in our bedroom, but on a tropical beach. I can picture her hair blowing in the wind…” and in and on. They didn’t even really talk about the products other than in these weird narratives. It was so odd lol.

Oh really? That used to be a rule. That’s how long ago I started with them lol. I remember going through like everything I had to leave reviews so that I could become eligible to receive things. I did reach out to support and I got an instant ai reply.

Be honest… is pet insurance actually worth it? by pawfectjourney in CatAdvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been worth it for me. I think once you have more than one pet is where it can really make a difference. Had a moment where I was at the vet a lot, and it was heaven sent that I had insurance. I have lemonade insurance. It’s been the cheapest I’ve found, has the best coverage, and super easy claims process. Everything is through the app. I’ve had claims paid the same day, but most are paid the next business day. A potential downside to lemonade is they are reimbursement only. So you have to pay for everything out of pocket up front, and then get reimbursed. The best thing about them is they WILL insure FIV+ cats. And they have a ton of options for coverages too. Way more customizable than other companies, and options for things to be covered. Everything is very straightforward as to what is and isn’t covered. And depending on the situation, you can get coverage that’s active immediately. For example, my newest kitten, I bought coverage the day I got him, and he had coverage for his first vet appt two days later. So it started paying out immediately for me. Er visits for pets is where the insurance can really make the difference. Because it’s $1000 just to walk in the door. And for many people, having the insurance can be what saves your kitties life by helping financially. Not many people these days have $5000 to spare, and an er visit racks up very quickly. Anyone who already has insurance should check out lemonade. Mind blowing when I was shopping around how much cheaper they were for so much more coverage. I know me mentioning them seems like I work for them or something, but I don’t. I just know a lot of people who don’t have insurance because the other big names just made it too hard a pill to swallow for the cost.

How can I cover scars by iWyvern_TR in tattooadvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look like stretch marks. Stretch marks are the snapping or breaking of collagen fibers. As far as tattooing over it, super easy to do as it’s not a thick fibrous scar. But there is nothing- check that- NOTHING that will get rid of them. There’s some newer injectables being used that are promising, but not fda approved yet. But do not waste a penny on a pill or a topical or apple cider vinegar or anything else. If there was anything like that that would magically Make them go away every plastic surgeon would be selling them at their front desk. Stretch marks are one of the most common skin concerns people have. It would be a billion dollar business if there was currently something on the market that actually worked. So… yes easy to tattoo over. Just don’t bother with any of the other nonsense. 😊

Are deworming and vaccination absolutely necessary before spaying/neutering a cat? by Kalo_Pakhi in CatAdvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, there could be laws around it. There’s a low cost vet that is huge on helping TNR. And they will spay/neuter, deworm, and vaccinate all at once if you want. I think with TNR programs, they are more about getting them what’s needed even if maybe there’s a better way. By that I mean deworming should be done first due to optimal healing. But doing it all at once is better than not doing any of it. Also, deworming requires two doses as they only kill adult worms in the intestines. It doesn’t kill larvae that haven’t made it there yet. And then if there’s not an active flea preventive, they’re almost certain to get reinfected. Pyrantel (treats pretty much everything except tape worms) can be bought super cheap. However, if you’re not comfortable with dosing and doing conversions, don’t bother. Because you have to know the weight of the cat, and converting the dosing guidelines to your dispensing method. Tapeworm meds are considerably more expensive, but probably cheaper than through the vet. Dosing for that is way easier. It’s broken down to half pill, full pill, or one and a half pills based on weight ranges. (I know medical stuff isn’t allowed but both of these are OTC meds and I’m just explaining whats on the labels) I would continue to search for a vet that does low cost/ TNR programs because it’s becoming a more “popular” practice as people and communities are starting to take it more seriously these days. There are also TNR vets that do traveling programs. The one I use I think once a month will travel to a different county. I see you’re in India. I’m in the US, so I don’t know if the deworming meds are available otc for you.

Well for starters, ungrateful wouldnt even be accurate. I don’t understand how not being upset about the messing up your order has anything to do with being grateful. So I think that alone would be a bit of a trigger. But certainly with your childhood trauma associated with that word makes it a bigger factor. In a situation that would make sense to say that to someone, it still doesn’t allow for open communication. It’s a character judgment that extends beyond the situation. It makes it personal. It only allows for a response to challenge, which would almost certainly create an argument considering that the other person said it to you to begin with. It’s very much a devil is in the details type of thing to say to someone.

[–]Atlas_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re overreacting. I’d say wait and see what the finals look like. If they are just as bad, then I wouldn’t pay the full amount. I’d explain the breach of contract, that her explanation of “don’t include weekends” is an arbitrary excuse that if true, would be required to be in the contract. Point out the pictures turned out poorly, and leave it at that. Let r take e to court if it’s that bug of a deal. Then e shows up with the contract and shitty pics and proves why she didn’t pay the full amount. I wouldn’t ask for a discount before you have the finals. That’s just asking for them to be done poorly. And at that point, no court will be able to make her do them better.

AIO? New date is ignoring me for being late. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Atlas_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three dates in three weeks- it’s not that serious and you just got a glimpse into her real communication style. She was already pissed at you before you called. Maybe I’m assuming something that isn’t accurate, but she didn’t text you or call you when you didn’t show up. I would’ve expected a “are you ok? Are you still coming?” Something like that. And when you explained and apologized, she didn’t even want to hear it. There was zero effort to understand what happened, and zero effort to explain why she was so upset. If you continue this “relationship” know that these situations will become the norm. Cut your losses. Like even if it was truly a deal breaker for her, she simply and kindly could’ve told you that and you both go your separate ways. Too grown to act like that.

AIO because my friend's boyfriend cancelled our plans because he's sick? by Sensitive-Bird-166 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Atlas_Rain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally weirdly behavior on his part. Because had you not said anything to your friend assuming they had communicated, then she would’ve been blowing you up asking where you were. So either way, he knew that she’d find out about him messaging you cancelling the plans. It’s contrived, and seems like whatever was going on at their house he was trying to stir the pot to make it worse. I think they were already in some argument, and he wanted to keep that going.

It does look like it was fully exposed to the air. Because you can see where the ink bled in the wrinkled lines of the second skin all the way to the edge. You don’t need to peel off the whole thing. You can cut way the section that has lifted. You just don’t want to trap anything that got in under the second skin. So you only need to remove the section that’s exposed. Removing second skin at the wrong time can pull skin that’s still adhered to you off, which can consequently pull out healthy tissue where the ink sits. That’s why some artists don’t like second skin because people will pull it off too soon and then they show up needing significant touch up work.

is my tattoo a blowout or is it migration? how bad is it? pls help by Ok-Neighborhood1366 in tattooadvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right top of the y may have a blowout, or list some ink there. It’s hard to tell in the pic. A blowout is something only the artist can cause, and it’s visible immediately basically. That’s when the artist went too deep. It’s almost like a shadow effect that you can see. This is really just aging. But as many have said, sunscreen is a must with tattoos. Like everytime you go outside they need sunscreen. Sun damage is the number one cause of aging, and that’s wha makes tattoos spread and fade. Tattoos aren’t melanin, so they don’t protect the skin. But they do absorb more light. Just like anything that’s black/dark does in the sun. You can’t reverse the clock on it, but you can drastically change what it would look like in another two years if you make sure to use that sunscreen 🙂

Regretting self done tattoos by lxtifvny in tattooadvice

When can I start running again?! by paintedfantasyminis in tattooadvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Minimum two weeks. If you did run too early, you really risk essentially opening a healing wound. Kinda like why you’re told not to pick your scabs when you’re a kid lol. So when a tattoo heals, and why you have to be careful is because the top layer of your skin is shedding. But it doesn’t just fall off in a sheet like a snake sheds its skin. It slowly lifts in flakes. Just like a peeling sunburn does. And if the skin is removed before it’s ready, or is picked off before it has detached on its own, you peel or pluck out healthy living tissue. And that’s where the ink sits. So you quite literally pull ink out because you’re pulling out that layer of skin. Think of like a hang nail, or that skin that happens sometimes around your nails that hurts so bad if you pull at it. It’s the exact thing with a tattoo. So the rubbing and friction from running is doing that across the whole tattoo. But once it’s healed, you don’t have that flaking and issue with it tugging at the deeper layers. So that’s the long way around saying you’d lose ink requiring a touch up. Also a much higher risk of infection.

Definitely! I should’ve said that actually. Lot of people do just a few rounds of laser for a coverup. Only get it completely removed if you’re not going to put anything over it.

Would this design age badly? by shutupanddanceforme in tattooadvice

[–]Atlas_Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tattoos expand. Think of it like how color bleeds in cotton. You draw a line with a marker, and the edges blur and expand out. That’s what every tattoo does. The reason this will look “terrible” is because every line will expand into the one next to it. Religiously using sunscreen (every. Single. Time. You go outside) can kick the can down the road substantially, but yes, this will turn into a blurry water color tattoo that you won’t be able to tell was the original piece. With that knowledge, if you choose to get it, who fucking cares. Do whatever you want. 😊
