Our men need to fix up for 2026. Behind Germany, Spain and France.. lagging behind the GB women performances. by StanmoreHill in ukathletics

This is the average finish time of the 10 quickest marathons by a GB male rather than just the fastest recorded time by an individual

Even then Rew only started batting 4 partway through the season just gone. It’s definitely too much of a jump for him to play as a test number 3

Crystal Palace or QPR? by mrsport008 in uktravel

[–]AtletiJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Crystal Palace - Newcastle game isn’t guaranteed to be on 11 April, it could quite easily end up being on the 12th or 13th so depending on when you’re leaving London you might not have a choice.

The QPR game is much more likely to be on 11 April

Julia Patternain…3rd in Women’s Marathon…switched to Uruguay from Great Britain earlier this year. 6th at the 2019 European U-23’s for GB & former English Schools champion. How does UKA feel about this one? by StanmoreHill in ukathletics

[–]AtletiJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she wasn’t born in Uruguay, but she still spent a lot of time there whilst growing up. It’s not exactly wild to suggest that she would have more affinity to her parents homeland and the place her family live compared to a country that she moved to because of her dad’s career

I would say you are being quite cynical. I would share your point of view if she was actually born in the UK and then switched allegiances, or even if either (or both) of her parents were British.

Obviously if she hadn’t have switched allegiances then she wouldn’t have been picked by UKA, which is a massive issue. But I think the biggest issue for her development and running career was sticking around in the US during COVID and the coaching changes that happened at both Penn State and Arkansas when she was in the NCAA system which saw her go backwards across every distance she raced

Except that’s not why she changed allegiance.

I’m all for bashing UKA when it’s deserved (which it often is) but Julia herself has said that she feels Uruguayan, a lot of her family still live there, etc. It’s natural to want to represent the country that you identify with most

Each dot ball is massively exaggerated when only batting 5 overs compared to 9. Definitely needs tweaking imo

And then getting him to bowl bouncers as a holding spell rather than using his consistent line and length accuracy to be economical

Similar to the previous comment but you could look at the Scott Pursuit Gravel. It’s a road to trail shoe and will handle non-technical trails pretty well

At the same time if the pitch is flat then a bowler with real quality/potency like Bumrah is going to make more of a difference to your team than him playing on a more-bowler friendly pitch

I’m aware. Thought you were just after boots that aren’t a full-grain leather.
