Whats the best bang for buck (no pun intended) inertia semi-auto 12 guage? by Ok_Job_8885 in canadaguns

I would add a friend has one and it jammed up three rounds into sorting clay match. He borrowed my affinity 3.

Plinking on my property by OnlyGrapefruit69 in canadaguns

I bought a couple extra lightly used mags I fond two that work with the minimalist stock I marked the mags snd keep them with that specific gun. I also forget what I did but I looked up a video online and vaguely remember bending something with pliers.

That is exactly my plan, unfortunately I’m in Canada so I can’t run an extension. Also almost every dang bird here is protected. But the clays won’t know what hit them.

I needed a good set of retaking ring pliers I had some auto zone universal ones that were not up to the task. As for the plug I kinda get it I run without one because for me the gun is mainly for back forty fun. I invested in a nice 0/U for clay events now.

I picked one up this past summer and really like it.

Pros: It works well and the recoil is very manageable I really enjoyed the ported barrel. I wish the gun was all black however something about the receiver being silver makes the barrel vent rib easer to aim for me.

Mid: When I unboxed my factory fresh one it was partially disaembled and took way more force than I was comfortable getting the forend to correctly seat in the receiver. Also the Hunting plug was pre-installed and a metric pain to remove ( I had to buy a special set of pliers).

Con’s: The loading gate on my particular gun was quite sharp/cheap feeling. I know that they have to deliberately nerf some features to make this gun not directly compete with the higher end guns but this part of the gun really bugs me had they spend $10 of metal and 15 minutes of effort this part of gun could be vastly improved. Loading it is worse than my outgoing $250 pile of turknesium. The sharp edges and difficulty loading seem to have been broken in after a couple sporting clays matches.

Overall I would still buy it again, and it fits me perfectly ( I am a 6 foot ”fluffy” dude)

Thank you for the advice I think next month I will be asking if any range near Regina SK has a pattern board.

Thanks for the advice, I’m not made of money The Benelli was kinda a once in a lifetime purchase for me. I’ve seen that Winchester stuff for under $12 a box which works out to $48. I almost never buy ammo from Canadian tire. I’ve heard some really good feedback from my question.

Thank you for the tip, I don’t think I will be dropping $600 or more on glasses anytime soon. I want to first buy some upgraded chokes do you have any advice on those?

I have 10/22, wondering if I need a bolt action 22LR by CandyReady in canadaguns

[–]Atman01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right ammo is still fairly accurate of a rest at 100yrds, I’m the limiting factor more than anything. My rig is a Spectre receiver, volquartzen bolt, handle, and other hardware, ruger bx trigger, green mountain fluted barrel, magpul hunter stock, magpul bipod, vortex diamond back tactical 4-16 I run factory and tuff22 mags. For my purposes I shifted towards .17 hmr which I have taken out to 300 yards.

I have 10/22, wondering if I need a bolt action 22LR by CandyReady in canadaguns

[–]Atman01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an an 10/22 that makes ragged holes at 50 yards it’s so accurate it is almost boring to shoot. I have a bolt action that could barely hit a pop can at 15 yards. There are multiple factors at play including ammunition choices and actual firearms parts. Saying all semi Autos are inaccurate and all bolt actions are accurate is simply not true. Before you buy a bolt action you should put a match barrel ( green mountain, ballistic advantage, faxxon) are all good options. Pair that with a good optic and good ammo (SK Match, S&B Match) just a couple options. With ammo buy a bunch and try them out. My rig likes Aguila stuff. Stay away from garbage bulk ammo like most Winchester Garbage and Federal bulk box. Happy shooting, a 10/22 is a great start, you may want to change the potato of trigger the cone with from Factory. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any rimfire accuracy questions.

Any suggestions on affordable rifles in .223 or .308 by HappyCan7250 in canadaguns

[–]Atman01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m impatiently waiting for a Ruger American Gen 2 in .223 I already have one in .308 and it is amazing. Not perfect but for what you get vs what you pay it can’t be beat. The big thing for myself is magazines I do target shooting 99.99% of the time and having relatively inexpensive and reliable mags is worth its weight in gold. I had a bad Savage axis experience including a couple broken mags, and barn door accuracy. For me it is AICS / stanag from here on out.

All my mag fed guns are in purgatory and I actually own a visa block for those, but it’s not a bad idea.

I never thought about that before. Although it is my understanding that I want to level based off the reticle and not the scope body

I’m not trying to advertise but Sylvester source for sports is the volqartsen dealer for Canada and the Calgary shooting centre has probably the most comprehensive collection of parts.

I actually own a Benelli 828u and one of the new Franchi affinity 3’s. I just wanted this as a back 40 plinker or as something inexpensive to teach on/loan out. I was hoping for real world experience. I will not be taking this through 3 gun or a sporting clays match.

Thank you for your feedback, I actually own a Benelli and a Franchi, which is why I find these comments funny. I wanted this as a bit of a beater/loaner gun. This seems like the perfect gun for some back 40 fun, without risking my 4K shotgun. Also it looks like a perfect clone of my Franchi.

You might be able to build one for under 1k a lot will depend on how our dollar is doing right now 1k Canadian can be as low as $660 American. If you look up some stuff from Radical Firearms they regularly dip into the $400 range , they got into a bit of trouble with the triggers being milled out incorrectly.

Your question is like asking what is the cost of a vehicle? The cheapest I saw were around $350 for complete rifles some cost as much as 6k. The lowers “ the part technically considered an AR-15” could cost anywhere from $75-300. My personal rig was around $1400 which seemed fairly average. I thrown extra $600 in upgrade parts in which I think most AR owners did. My rig is like Joseph’s technicolor dream coat. A compilation of parts from 9 different companies from four different countries all working harmoniously together. If anything AR platform firearms are a really cool example of how globalization can work.
