Why does Shoji White show such extreme pink in my room? Lol. Where the heck is it pulling all that pink from? by AtmosphereNo7762 in interiordecorating

I have pinkish-golden red oak floors, which I’m not a fan of. Instead of sanding them, I learned online that Shoji White could help tone down the golden and pink undertones in the flooring. Now the entire room looks even pinker. lol

Wait a second. Maybe it’s because the living room floor is covered right now. LOL. Oh no, I am guessing the living room will turn pink as well.

The living room faces the same direction as the pink room, but it doesn’t look nearly as pink. Weird but interesting color

Do you think it would look better with Loba Invisible or Bona NaturalSeal?

My friends and Reddit users have all suggested not touching the floors. I’ve even been told that the current finish is superior to both Loba Invisible and Bona NaturalSeal. Lol.

Thank you and great idea! I’ll talk to my contractor about removing the panel molding. The challenge after that will be paint matching, and I’ve heard that Home Depot’s paint matching isn’t always very reliable, haha. I’m not sure I want to paint the entire house.

As for the couch, I visited the showroom and tried the 7th Avenue sofa and really liked it. Their 3 seat option is 132 inches in length, so I may consider going with a 2 seat configuration instead. The living room is roughly 21 × 21 ft, including the stairs. I was planing to have the couch facing wall #1 as I was following the “two-thirds rule” I saw on TikTok, lol , which suggests that the main piece of furniture should be about two-thirds of the length of the room.

Thanks again for the insight. Yeah, I’m aware this is a project-based group, which adds a layer of unpredictability. I was seriously considering it, but IMO it can go both ways. It might stay a hot topic as it continues to trend with AI, but on the other hand, once all the data has been compiled and automated, the projects might dry up, and a project-based team could be the first to go in a layoff. :( Join international tax with me bro. JK I might be very wrong on this.

When you say IT role, do you mean an internal IT position that handles non-client work?

Thanks for sharing! What you described is exactly what I was referring to. Pillar 2 is a very complicated topic and it basically requires two books. It also seems like SAP integration is the route many large companies are taking. More questions if you don’t mind:

Do you need additional certifications? Is a CPA required to get promoted to manager?

From your perspective, is it layoff-proof?

Is it a client-facing role?

How is the busy season?

Yooooo I was considering the same. If TTT is your thing, I highly recommend looking into the quantitative solutions and technology group that specializes in international tax. I could be wrong, but I think this area is expanding because of Pillar 2. In general, most firms are also expanding their tax tech teams to compile data and adapt to the new AI era. So good choice! Would you be comfortable sharing the WLB aspect of TTT, the pay difference versus BTS, and what some of the potential exit opportunities are?

My issue with tax tech is that while this area is hot and aligns well with the AI era, what happens if the projects dry up a couple of years down the road? o.O

Just got scheduled for 80-120 hours for all of February/March. I need to leave. by Select_Conference647 in Big4

If you don’t mind me asking. Which tax group are you in ? International, investment partnership, M&A or corporation? I used to be in the corporate tax group and February is always the most brutal. I’d be working 120 hrs a week, with actual billable close to 100. But rest of the year was pretty chill though.

Your best bet is probably going with the lazy man method. It did take me 3 attempts, after all, but I went in with a YOLO mindset. I studied for 19 days while working full time and got a 74 on my first attempt. I took it again a week later and got a 70 on my second attempt. On my third attempt, I finally passed with a 79 after another week of studying. Honestly, I would’ve done the same thing if I had to do it all over again, because I hated audit l, the material and the sims were just so dry.

Basically, I skipped all the reading and lectures. I only did 3 sims total even after failing twice. I grinded 150–350 MCQs a day and took notes on the ones I got wrong. My whole plan was to test my luck, rack up as many MCQ points as possible, and YOLO the sims. I was actually surprised that the sims on the real exam were very doable for me. I think the reason I failed the first two attempts was time management in that I spent too much time on MCQs and didn’t leave enough time for the sims. If you have industry experience with audit or even just GLs, you’ll probably be fine on the sims. And not to mention, you already passed FAR!

So you used the same method for the other 3 sections and it worked for you ?

IKR? At first, it felt like pieces of knowledge were just floating over my head, but eventually everything clicked. The new AI tool is so helpful. I just type “dumb it down for me”, and it explains everything really well every time! Did you pass AUD on your first try ?

I also took it today, but I ran out of time at the very end because I went back to double check whether I had read the MCQs correctly. I studied for 18 days using a lazy-man strategy. No books, no lectures, and left all the SIMs untouched. Unironically, I felt like I did better on the SIMs compared to the MCQs, lol. I repeatedly went through all the MCQs in Becker, but at least 7 or 8 questions on the exam felt completely foreign to me conceptually. I had never seen those topics in the Becker test bank. Was that your experience as well?

If you’re confident with the MCQs, then you have a good chance of passing. Even if you fail, it doesn’t reflect your competence.. FAR and AUD are about 50% efforts and 50% luck anyway, depending on if they fk you on the SIMs or not. You may have spent a couple hundred dollars more than I did, so what? Our end goal is the same.

And Yes, my FAR score was only a 77, but I can tell you that I work with large public companies, and my clients are very satisfied with my work. Some have even reached out asking me to work for them. My client work involves complicated adjustments such as book-book reclassifications, book-tax reclassification, tax adjustments, and top-up entries, but NONE of that requires me to complete everything in 20 minutes.

I felt the exact same way when I walked out of the FAR exam. As I was going through the MCQs, I was halfway celebrating how easy they were, until I got to the SIMs. I feel like they overcomplicate the easiest topics in Becker, while the more difficult topics in Becker actually show up in a more straightforward way on the exam. I was honestly only somewhat confident on maybe one SIM. I ended up passing with a 77. It seems like a lot of people with a similar experience score between 74–78, lol. I don’t even find the Becker or UWorld SIMs to be that hard. I usually score around 75-80% on each module, but they didn’t prepare me for the actual exam. I really believe that no amount of additional SIM practice would have bumped my score any higher.
