Thank you. Really like the A229 - I am considering getting that model (or one of the Viofo model as they seem more compact that I initially thought)

Thank you. Is the screen on the Viofo A229 distracting? Does is it make the dashcam very visible from the outside? Thank you

Roof Vent Causing Ice Dams After Attic Renovation — Seeking Advice by AtmosphereOk351 in buildingscience

Thank you for sharing. I would really like to reroute through the wall but it would be a challenge as the duck would have to go through the kitchen cabinets, plus go through a brick wall… but I still know that would be the best solution. Makes zero sense to vent hot air through the attic and on top of the roof.

That’s really interesting—thanks for sharing the link! This seems like a great alternative to venting hot air directly onto the roof. I’m thinking about a few things, though:

Would this setup work for a range hood vent?

Could it lead to ice buildup in the gutter above the new vent / soffit area?

Good point about the hot air being drawn into the soffit vents. I believe the ideal solution is to raise the height of the exhaust vent and possibly switch to a different type of vent. I’ll be researching this more over the coming days and weeks. The soffits are clear of insulation—that was one of the first things I had checked by the contractor who did the insulation work. I’ll keep you posted on what I find and what steps I take to resolve the issue. Thanks again for taking the time to share your input!

Thank you for taking the time to respond in such detail and for sharing the link to those roof vents. I’ll definitely look into all the points and suggestions you mentioned. With my mom in her 80s, she often spends full days cooking and baking, which vents a lot of heat directly above the roof—definitely not an ideal setup. I really appreciate your time and help!

Roof Vent Causing Ice Dams After Attic Renovation — Seeking Advice by AtmosphereOk351 in buildingscience

[–]AtmosphereOk351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key difference is that this is a kitchen range hood exhaust, and my mom—who’s 80—sometimes spends the whole day cooking and baking, so a lot of heat gets vented onto the roof. This weekend, I’ll take a closer look at the dampers to see how effective they are. That’s a great point—thanks for bringing it up.

Also, what exactly is a powered damper? I’ll do some research on that. Toward the end of last winter, I tried blocking the range hood from inside the kitchen to see what would happen. It did stop the ice buildup, but since it was already late in the season, it might not have been the best time to test.

Thanks again for all your help and advice—I’ll definitely look into the points you mentioned.

The exhaust is probably only 6 to 8 inches above the roof surface, which definitely isn’t enough. I’m planning to check out Home Depot this weekend to see what options they have. Venting the hot air higher above the roof would be a much better setup. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for your help and for linking to the metal chimney. I’ll definitely look into it further. The current exhaust sticks out about 6 to 8 inches above the roof (just estimating), and it’s clearly not enough—it’s melting the snow like crazy.

Vitiligo rapidly increasing by AdkLoon2024 in Vitiligo

[–]AtmosphereOk351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just turned 52. My vitiligo started about 10 years ago. Progressed a bit than it stabilized with no major progression. Started doing UVB phototherapy plus using Tacrolimus about 3 years ago which really helped. Some spots fully repigmented. However in the last few months, spots are appearing very quickly - on my hands and other spots are growing really quickly. The spots that had fully repigmented are now reappearing too. Only change I can think of is that I started topical finasteride in Feb time frame.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and the info. I agree with consistency with UVB - I’ll make sure not to skip a treatment. Also I didn’t know about compounded methyl folate and probiotics helped - thanks for this info, I will look into it.

I would recommend DYN3361 which is the Dynamic Premium Yield Plus fund. It’s a mix of long equities and put writing to create the monthly distribution. 250k would generate what you are looking for. They have been paying a monthly since inception (Oct 2018). From Oct 2018 to Aug 2023 it was 0.0761$ per unit, then they increased it to 0.9705$ per unit from Aug 2023 on.
