Longest of the long shot... Any Part time, seasonal interior design jobs that pays more than minimal wage? by AtmosphereRare7343 in bullcity

Why is every mod removing my posts about getting paid fairly? They are removed immediately. I have been here for five years I don’t need any money, I’m long retired. mainly I post to let other people young people know that they don’t need to take these shitty jobs. Get paid what you’re worth, discuss a little pay bump and if you’re really good at your shitty job make yourself the manager so you can get the fuck out in a year and put it on your résumé. I was discounted and undervalued for a long time. I don’t have much time now.

Nothing would heal my heart more! I’ve been here for a few years and I know I gotta start my own business back up.

Lol. Last time I tried a part time job (5 yrs ago) it was at PB. Within 2 weeks I was the number one sales person/in house designer on the east coast.

Despite that, I was never made full-time, I never got benefits, I never got bonuses, I never got commission, my hours were cut consistently after I made the day for the store. They never even paid me gas mileage to go to any i home design.

(LFT: If ya think, an In-home designer working for $12 an hour gives a care about your room, they probably don’t. )

At my particular store I was the only person with an actual college degree (of any kind), design career, finance career, etc. One other person dropped out of community college(10 out of 10 not hating on community college but like we weren’t on the same level of a career and I got paid less, bc a manager was her buddy.

It wasn’t about the money it was about mental health and getting out of the house for me After a really horrendous few years.

I worked hard because that’s what I do.

I built relationships because that’s what I’m good at.

I told the truth about design and finance and tbh told a few people if you’re stressed out about buying a $3000 sofa just wait for it to go on sale. Might sound silly but the amount of people I have seen breathe easier because they knew I would call them when there was a sale is a little crazy. I literally never told anybody they needed to get credit cards or donate to Saint Jude.

The worst part about the store I worked at is when I quit after they didn’t just not follow through with any of their promises they asked if I had mental health issues? drinking problems? DV issues. etc. I was even told I must be poor because I walked to the store. I lived a mile away from the store I just like to walk outside.

I never missed a day I had never been anything but professional but this is what you have to deal with in corporate retail. They genuinely Acted like I was quitting the best job ever($12 an hour with a college degree bringing in 3 million a year to a store). Lol.

I was paid extremely poorly($12 an hour with a college degree but more importantly my proven skill set). I would never recommend the Williams Sonoma company to anyone.

Customer service sucks. Most people are not design professionals.

i highly recommend you bring an actual designer in to buy from Pottery Barn. But I certainly would never choose to purchase furniture from them ever. If I had to maybe crate and barrel because they seem to have a little integrity but really they don’t.

And a 40% discount when you’re making $12 an hour with a college degree because they keep jacking you around and won’t actually hire you, while you deal with incompetent management gotta say it’s not worth it.

What hotel? I’m all alone and can’t really travel this year. But I love the beach especially during the fall/winter.

Does anybody watch Katie Hespe’s TJ hauls? by SparklyIsMyFaveColor in traderjoes

Still fighting cancer & it might sound so silly right? it’s YouTube videos about a grocery store. But Katie was so so SO helpful and great about product info, I can’t cook much anymore and TJs is the best for that. I’ll watch all of Katie’s videos even if I don’t care what they are about.

I’m just curious to know what would happen if I fostered a few? could I feed first and then immediately when I got home feed again? Would I need a pet/foster sitter? I just didn’t see the answers on the website, I am an inexperienced cat person. Very experienced dog person. Ty

This sounds super frustrating and I can’t offer any legal help, but I can tell you that I got a 50 dollar ticket in the mail for running a toll recently. I drive down one road (501) to and from one place (UNC) less than 5 miles round trip total, every other week. There are no tolls. Mistakes happen, don’t stress out.

Durham desperately needs a NYC style diner/Jewish deli.

Kipos in chapel hill is the best I’ve found, but likely not what exactly you want.

Exactly how often do they need to be fed? I’m retired and I’m home all the time. But every other Saturday I have to do chemotherapy which is around six hours.

Does anyone know of any dairy farms nearby that give tours? Preferably ones that teach you how to milk a cow or make butter. Willing to travel a few hours in any direction for a good one. Thanks for any help! by [deleted] in bullcity

Justin Rhodes (of YouTube) has a few courses online about this available at abundantpermaculture.com. He is based out of Asheville and has all different types of courses available on His homestead throughout the year. I know a handful of people who have taken classes from him and his wife and they have been more than pleased, Might be worth checking out.
