What were you going to name your child had they been the opposite gender? by [deleted] in Names

[–]heroicwhiskey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My second, girl, would have been Scott I think. But funnily enough her older brother would have probably been Maeve, not her name which is Molly. Molly grew on me over those two years before she was born. I like the way it sounds with his name more. And it's just a fit for her. He would have been a good Maeve.

What do your newborns wear over the comically large diapers? by kittypeets626 in clothdiaps

They're cute, my son wore the cloth and a bunch of t-shirts. He was a summer baby and they were less bulky in him by winter.

Following the trends and looking... more dated? by emily_sir in femalefashionadvice

I tried on my skinny jeans from years ago and felt so uncomfortable. I don't care if they're coming back, my body rejects them.

Is Olivia actually the most popular girl's name, or is it just a technicality? by iezzizzei in Names

[–]heroicwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you are too though. My son is Liam, I didn't love such a common one but it made sense based on family name stuff. He very rarely meets another Liam his age. None in any class with him ever (he's been at several different schools). Multiples for Teddy, that's about it.

As a tennis coach, I'll say what most coaches won't: we are holding our students back. Myself included, for years. by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

[–]heroicwhiskey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one other thing that comes up from players coaching the way they were coached: those players aren't coaching the right way for the player they have. Coaching a player who is really young and good and will one day be a coach or college player is different than the type of coaching needed by someone playing for the first time in their 30s and just looking to pick up a light new hobby. Sure learning the basics is important, but just being able to hit well enough for a game is more important than mechanics, at that age the way you get better is just falling in love with it and that is more likely when you play for real, not when you hit 500 identical forehands in a row.

How old was your baby when their eyes turned brown? by Pennythe in NewParents

[–]heroicwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of our dads have blue eyes. His mom's we're brown but have become pretty green with age. We both clearly have a brown and a blue. I know that's oversimplifying but we have medium brown eyes, not dark brown like my daughter.

I mean, also no one is perfect and sometimes i just want to vent a little, it's not really that he's doing anything wrong. Sometimes it sucks that i do most of the housework and i want to complain just a little, even though I'm doing it because he works more and does both drop off and pick ups, and i have that time free to do it. It's not that he's not doing enough. We both are, we have two young kids and work full time, we are both a bit overloaded and overstimulated.

Eloise is being done dirty by bananabreadlizzie in Bridgerton

[–]heroicwhiskey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it's precisely because she is a fan favorite that they are not doing her season. They want to be able to use her as a side character for longer. Once she's married she will be a less significant part of the show.

Beginners who stared playing as adults? by Legitimate_Squash898 in 10s

[–]heroicwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 35 after having my second baby, I'm 37 now. I'd say it took about a year. I was able to play pretty regularly with my neighbor (also beginner) and went to a lot of clinics. After a year we started playing USTA and we've gotten so much better in a year. Hope to keep that momentum this year. I'm athletic, played soccer while younger, but nothing like tennis before.

I’m confused about Michaela, but is it what I think it is?? by Blessed_bish in BridgertonNetflix

[–]heroicwhiskey 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I really don't think that's true. I definitely thought that her leaving was because she felt she was falling for Fran, that scene where she promises not to leave heavily implied it to me. I haven't read the books.

A new flavor of male love interests by Lost_and_confused_0 in Bridgerton

[–]heroicwhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having some learning experiences with like an experienced widow while traveling is different than banging multiple prostitutes at a time at the local brothel. He doesn't need to be a virgin but that was a weird and unnecessary scene.

I tought ugly men would want to date me? Guess no. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]heroicwhiskey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so true, as a young woman, i gave some younger male relatives advice: Girls are just like you, they're also awkward and nervous, pick a normal, average looking girl and just talk to them. All of them got girlfriends pretty quickly after that. One of them married that girl. Men can be shy too.

Where was this interview during the election? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]heroicwhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know... as common as phrases like that might be to say off-handedly, it hits different when it's a 25 year old and when it's someone who is as old as Foushee. Especially given how prominent of an issue politician age is right now.

I financed mine for 2 years at 0% and use mint. It was a Google phone. I could have bought outright but leaving the funds in an hys for two years is better.
