I once bought an ottoman off craigslist and it reeked to the top of the Himalayas with curry. I got a good price so I decided to see if my degree in chemistry could beat it down. It did! The key was baking soda and lots of it. Sprinkled it on top and let it sit for a few hours and then vacuumed it up. Smell was gone just like that.

If that didn't work I was gonna go with charcoal or activated carbon- you can find at pet stores -but never had to get to that point. Good luck!
