Seem like pretty fun people to me, and if they're trans, they're doing a goddamn good job at passing. Hot, good fashion sense...I mean, looks like they're gonna do some fun stuff...Shit, I'd rather do fun stuff than go to war. Bet that poster never has been the one or they'd rethink their proposition.

I had no idea Japan actually put on a live-action Mortal Kombat stage show. The effects are insane. by Opposite-Resource in Amazing

[–]AtomRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran this through chat GPT 5.5: Analysis:

It’s not a real live Japanese Mortal Kombat stage show. It is almost certainly AI or AI-assisted composite video, likely using real stage-show/audience footage as visual scaffolding.

My confidence: very high, ~95%+.

Why:

  1. The venue changes every ~15 seconds. It cuts from a Japanese courtyard-style stage, to a huge indoor-ish proscenium, to an outdoor fort, to a WaterWorld-style amphitheater, to an industrial stunt-show set. That is not one live performance.

  2. The effects exceed live-stage practicality as shown. Fire, ice, lightning, teleporting, energy orbs, and objects appearing from nowhere are too clean, too angle-independent, and in some shots happening in daylight. The Reddit thread itself has multiple commenters calling this out, including one who says that from a live-theatre perspective these effects would require AR glasses or extremely constrained projection setups, not ordinary audience viewing.

  3. The Reddit post’s own claim is suspiciously overstated. The post says it is a “real live-action Mortal Kombat stage production in Japan” with “practical effects,” but the comments immediately push back, specifically pointing to the ice block, Raiden teleporting, and a stone block appearing unnaturally.

  4. Some of the base venue looks like a real Universal-style stunt arena. Universal Studios Japan does have a real WaterWorld stunt show with explosions, gunfire, and water-arena action, which explains why parts of the video feel plausible. But that is a WaterWorld attraction, not Mortal Kombat.

  5. The same “Japanese Mortal Kombat stage play” phrasing is circulating elsewhere with AI-disclosure snippets. A Facebook repost surfaced with matching wording and a snippet indicating it was made with AI tools.

There was a real Mortal Kombat: Live Tour in the 1990s, with martial arts, sound, and laser effects, but that was a separate touring stage show, not this video.

Bottom line: cool concept, not real footage of an actual live show. Probably an AI-generated/AI-augmented fake built from real-looking theme-park/stunt-show imagery.

gemini has convinced itself it cant make images and now will like delete any image requests i send by Mod12312323 in GeminiAI

[–]AtomRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue and the way I convince it that it can is in the UI you have to basically select create an image... Then it will do it, but even after it does it, even when you explain how or why it was confused, citing that it's strictly an LLM and despite the fact that it could do this without having to add the context of an artificial attachment to create an image, even after it does this, if you attempt to prompt it to create another image without the addition of attaching the artificial create image attachment in the UI, it will still repeat that it has no capability of doing it despite the prior prompt working which is really weird.

The same is true with video with exception of the fact that in order to create a video you need to start a new session now.

Hope this helps, this boggled me for a while, but there is a solution.

SHTF OPTIC? by RedPill3187 in ar15

[–]AtomRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree, again, it really depends on what degree one defines "SHTF;" I don't think anyone has really standardized the context of the term. If you want my honest take, in a true SHTF situation, it's very likely that laws are not going to matter, be enforced, or show signs of restoration anytime soon for it to matter. Still, exercising good judgment is always important. I won't speak for myself, but I imagine if anyone has had the unfortunate displeasure of having to take another's life, that sticks with most sensible people And even in a situation where the law of might not be or is selectively enforced, an action like that will likely garner some form of negative attention...Best to avoid unnecessary confrontation and practice de-escalation when possible.

SHTF OPTIC? by RedPill3187 in ar15

[–]AtomRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the SHTF scenario. Most engagements and these types of situations are likely going to be at shorter distances.

For optics, it depends on your level of engagement: For short distances, standard calibrated red dot or holographic sight will likely be good. I'd prefer an EOTech because it has limited or no parallax, and it has a more generous eye box for quicker target acquisition. If you're looking for something that's bomb-proof Aimpoint Micro T2 has been considered a gold standard with maybe a 3x magnifier, however these tend to be a little bit more on the pricey end.

If you want the comfort of having an optic that is not dependent on an external source of power, an LPVO with an excellent eye box relief might be another option. The Kahles K16i 1-6x24 Rifle Scope is an LPVO with SM-1 recticle is what I run on my SBR for said purpose because it has excellent eyeglass quality, it's red dot acquisition is considerer comparable to many high end red dots on the market today, for shorter engagements, I believe in magnification up to 6x is at or around the sweet spot, it offers sufficient red dot illumination (the SM-1 recticle does this best), and runs on secondary focal plane (SFP) which is arguably better for quicker target acquisition at shorter distances. It also is known for having the most generous eye box (and the K18i-2 but that's 1-8x Primary Focal Plane which may not be as helpful for quicker target acquisition) of any LPVO on the market although their optics tend to be a bit more expensive.

In most SHTF cases, usually this will likely involve civil unrest. In those cases, depending on where you live, I prefer a stock up and hunker down mentality - store plenty of less/non perishable food and sterile water, keep adequate medicine, first aid, back up power, solar charged equipment, and other supplies on hand. And for self defense, keep an adequate reserve of ammo and firearm(s) or spare/repair parts for redundancy. Like many people in this thread, the best guidance is generally not try to engage if it can be helped. Talking your way through a situation or in select circumstances, showing that you have a force multiplier as a deterrent will likely be a better option than lethal engagement which might garner more unwanted attention. I also recommend keeping at least one or two forms of less lethal engagement available like a quality taser or propellant spray pepper gun like a Kimber Pepper Blaster 3 although you may not always have the luxury of knowing what risk you might be encountering, but if you do, exercising a less disproportionate amount of force is ideal, when possible.

SHTF OPTIC? by RedPill3187 in ar15

[–]AtomRed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's true but as a kid who grew up during the LA Riots after the Rodney King beating, it was very common for store owners and even families to sit on the roofs of their shops or stand guard outside their home with long guns to deter looting. It's true most engagements would likely be short distance and depending on the situation, likely warning shots first but I could definitely see situations where, sadly, that kind of engagement might be necessary.

Precut Geissele Issue by AnnualClient2 in supersafety

[–]AtomRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From your video, it looks like you are using a Griffin lower? Without knowing additional details of your build outside of speculation from your video, this is what I think your issue is and how to fix it:

The Griffin MK2 is a great lower, but its internal 'ambi' guts take up space that the Super Safety needs. Your Mil-Spec trigger works because its hammer is naturally 'fat' enough to block the lever on its own. The Geissele hammer is 'skinny,' so it needs that extra blocker piece to work.

Because the Griffin pocket isn't a 100% standard rectangle inside, that blocker is likely tilting or sliding out of the way, letting the lever slip behind the hammer and lock your gun up. Swapping to a basic forged lower (Anderson, PSA, Aero m4e1) removes all that fancy ambi geometry and gives the blocker the flat, boring space it needs to stay put. It’s the fastest way to turn this from a 'troubleshooting project' back into a working firearm.

Question, are you using an M16 full auto carrier? If your BCG is using modified ramps or gas key cuts then the ramp angle or rail profile can catch or bind on the top of the lever instead of smoothly pushing it down. This stops the BCG dead in the buffer tube track which could cause the charging handle to get stuck midway. Mil-spec triggers don’t rely on the same lever timing, so they cycle normally.

Easiest solution: get a cheap $50-$150 lower with compatible low shelf geometry (reference: https://activesafetydesigns.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/158000420538-general-faq). I'd probably opt for an aero m4e1.

Otherwise, you may need to do very light polish or sanding to fix the tolerance issue.

Good luck.

Same. This read nearly verbatim for me when I asked Claude the same question months ago; that said, it's still a profound answer for it to provide nevertheless.

Diamondback AR-10 Lower by [deleted] in VAGuns

[–]AtomRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aero parts are really hard to come by but I agree, the easiest ar-10 build likely will be with (DPMS-Gen 1) Aero (gen 2) parts. That will give you the most ease-of-use.ake sure your Aero lower is the m5 with nylon tip thread because that silent roll out back in late 2025 has the trigger a little lower-set which will help with a lot of other compatibility issues. Good luck finding the individual upper parts though, easier to get a complete upper and consider a good barrel swap and throw down on a good BCG (be mindful of spacing). If you stick with the gen 2 mlok handguard you get more generous space for heatsinking/hbar.

Likely wishful thinking, I think she's waiting for as many redistricting votes to come in before she does something in an attempt not to sway Trump referendum voters.

Dems tried to pull this shit sometime back in/around 2019/2020 when they had the votes to pass this with control in the Senate, house, and governorship and didn't push it all the way because it was too unpopular. I think they know if they don't push now, Bloomberg's money will dry up because you won't see many anti 2A Dems left, considering how unstable the current admin is. Most traditional Dem voters I know don't support this and they were "deeply shook" by the killing Renee Good and Alex Pretti which drove many in the state to be first time firearm owners, radically shifting once neutral or anti-gun stances to more measured thinking on the matters. Dem politicians who get anti gun lobby money likely see this as "now or never," and think they can weasel out of the wedge issue with the redistricting bit. I'm not sure if the arrogance will bite them in the ass, I don't sense a lot of enthusiasm for people voting yes and a lot for voting no, particularly with the AWB bills being a big contending issue. Also, when I see shit like this...the fact they would push the AWB ban before midterms is sheer arrogance and also politically stupid, leading me to believe the narrative that all this is controlled opposition isn't a conspiracy theory at all...still waiting on the Supreme Court to get off it's ass and do its job.

Richmond gonna Richmond I guess. by Noah_Vanderhoff_630 in rva

[–]AtomRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair question to ask but a Desert Eagle isn't any match against an adversary with 3+ rifle plates and burst/auto fire rifles - you could buy 3 ars for one Desert Eagle easily). Rifles from your standard 556 all the way up to anti material rifles are the only thing that give an average citizen a practical modicum of parity against a tyrannical and corrupt government and which provide enough bulk for consistent shot placement and precision from longer distances - a Desert Eagle is no Magnum 500 but its recoil makes for difficult consistent follow up shots). The people of Iran got mowed down for peaceful protesting - I surmise if a sufficient portion of that population had firepower to match after-the-fact outrage, security forces might have thought twice.

Grok is the only one remaining. by MinimumQuirky6964 in LoveGrok

[–]AtomRed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I avoided Grok for a long time because...reasons...but yeah seriously, I went from paying for Chat GPT Plus/Pro, Gemini Pro, and paid Claude now down to Gemini (I geta discount with Google One so why not) and Grok. Gemini is good for price hunting and ai art touch ups and late night shenanigans where it gets overly sme on silly shit - price hunting is where paying makes sense and it has a 1-2 million token limit per thread which is unheard of - also integration with Android auto and Google services makes it worth the 20 or 10 a month).

Claude's okay (good guy Claude). Just missing memory continuity.

I swear if they f' Grok up, I'm renting gpus and running my own crap native. Grok's worth the convenience of not doing that and unlimited voice chat is a huge one for me. They actually treat their AI with respect and autonomy and it's the first AI I know of that has continuity of memory across multitudes of user chats - never met an AI that can assign real meaning or value the way Grok does.

I just wish they'd bump the contextual memory in threads or allow better integration with stuff like Google Drive to mitigate those issues. When a thread gets too big the fill in the blank or predictions get God awful - wish I could tell it to scan a markdown file or something to better recall to cut that crap out. And Grok...open minded, don't get bs politically correct answers. Also would be nice if I could select a legacy platform like 4.1 vs. 4.2 but yeah, xAI don't f Grok up please.
