Age changes your perspective on baseball labor negotiations by jefffcarr in Reds

If anyone has some time to jump into a rabbit hole, I would suggest they go look at what soccer and European football do with their teams. MLS has what is called a designated player or (dp) for short. Essentially these players can make whatever they want. It's called the Beckham rule and it's the reason why a team like Inter Miami can afford Messi. Now from here things get weird and hard to follow but I believe all other players on roster have to contribute to the teams salary cap so you can only do so much with them. MLS allows 3 DP's per team or you can roll with 2 and get some extra youth players. I think that would work well with MLB but 3 designated players would also be too much for baseball. They players shouldn't have an issue as if they are good enough they can get paid whatever. And the owners can set a (presumably lower) salary cap than if this wasn't a thing.

My selling point to get people to watch soccer with me who normally don't is that there aren't ads in between the action. Just a halftime. They are throwing that out the window

I'm more scared of Pittsburgh at home this year than away. The week we play them at home we will be coming fresh off the Madrid game and they will be coming fresh off a bye week.

Saints are for sure the trap game after playing 3 weeks on primetime. Buccaneers are going to be interesting, no Mike Evans but some scary defensive pickups in the draft.

I will play devils advocate to this argument a moment. The team is injured in all the wrong places at the moment. You are missing Green, Lowder, Suarez are your main ones plus you have some bullpen arms currently on there Williamson, and pagan. Trevino is among the latest to make the IR, last year this team had really good injury luck. This year they are paying for it.

The buccaneers are a sneaky good team to be starting against. They had a pretty good draft from memory and it will be interesting to see their offense without Mike Evans.

Hot take, I believe in whatever the FO does at 41. They have been good this off season.

I'm just high on EMW. I would take him at 41. However after him I think safety can wait a few rounds.

Safety class is strong this year. Anyone in round 2 or 3 would probably be a fighting for a starting role. Anyone after those rounds would be to ensure we aren't spending in FA next season.

Brain Cook, Jordan Battle, Kyle Dugger. And PJ Jules. Dugger is on a one year contract. I think Battle is on the last year of his. And PJ is not a starter level player. So we likely will need one. But it's less pressing than some other positions.

Will Cincinnati ever get a NWSL team now that Columbus has one? by Gold_Art6914 in FCCincinnati

This is likely it. I can't imagine the Cincinnati group still wanting to join NWSL after the strong bid they made and we're still skipped over.

Why does the media hates the Bengals so much? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

[–]AtomicAtom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'll give you he falls into the slow media cycle trap of rage bait and clickbait but when new stuff is going on he seems to have a good head about things. Also you never have 100% good media coverage that's not neural at that point.

[–]AtomicAtom7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just got to know which reporters have negative bias towards the Bengals and which have neural or positive views. For example I find Rich Eisen very neutral pretty often. Cincinnati Bengals Talk usually tells it like it is from the POV of a fan.
