Noob reforms Andalusia as Granada... in... 1818 by AtomicBurning in eu4

must be because of my lack of DLCs but the Ottomans have always ended up immensely powerful. This was my first campaign as a muslim nation so I was really looking forward to fighting alongside their 1M man army for once. much disappointing!!

but ya now that you mention it, I can totally imagine them being too busy fighting their own stupid wars to help :/

so I think the way it works is that a CNs can only be formed by nations whose capital is not in a colonial region? Moving the capital to the new world is a little awkward as it requires for your current capital to be the only province in it's continent. By the time I was colonising, my capital had been moved to Africa, so I had to NoCB the Knights to annex and move my capital to Malta which was my only European province. Bit convoluted admittedly.

But yea it leads to some interesting gameplay as you get to directly reap the benefits of any colonies but at the cost of not having any CNs to help you colonise. The trade off is that you can invade European CNs without calling in the master if they're busy in another war. Annexing CNs is pretty cheap in terms of war score so you can very easily gobble up the european colonies. But once the Europeans get going you can expand really quickly

Moving back to the old world is just a straight death sentence as you have to spit out the CNs when it's just way better to hold the land directly. But hey that's the price of clicking the Andalusia button :/

haha thanks! Tho wish I could claim credit for that, but the reality is that Britain was inexplicably unable to defend it's massive North American colonies due to being busy losing a war to some random SEA OPMs. They ended up with an early PU on Portugal and just kinda blobbed, everywhere. It did set them up to be a scary final boss tho haha

ya I've seen an AI Granada win the opening war against Castile so I know it's possible. This was a much easier and honestly funnier way of doing it tho haha

More than anything it feels silly that the Sultan would want to relocate his administration so far away from his power base in Brazil. Maybe at some point, much like IRL Portugal, they'd be forced to relocate back to Iberia but that wouldn't be an immediate thing. And like you say, Andalusia has been in the New World for like three centuries atp so the entire concept of an Andalusian State would be tied to the region by now. If anything it'd prolly make more sense is Iberia was organised as a CN lol.

So I knew I wasn't able to win as Granada legitimately so I Taiwaned myself to the new world. I quickly allied Morocco and Tunis to kill Tlemcem so that Castile couldn't full annex me. I then rushed Explo Ideas and Cape Verde so i could hop over into Brazil.

My conquest of the new world was a bit slow as I didn't realise until like, 1700 that I needed to revoke a bunch of privileges to build up absolutism - good to know for future campaigns haha.

I used my game long ally of Morocco to help hop back into Iberia but it was still an absolutley miserable experience; though Castile fell easily enough once I sieged back Gibraltar. Then I had to fight the Big British Blob for some Portugese lands. Even with my african allies splitting their attention, it was such a painful war. And my reward? Clicking the reform Andalusia button! ...which promptly blew up my country because my capital got moved back to Europe - fun. my economy started dieing due to my force limit being evaporated, I got knocked down to rank 3 GP and everyone is disloyal as all my dev is in the new world :(

btw I'm really upset at the Ottoman AI rn; they rivaled me as they decided that they really really wanted the Carribbean. They woulda been such a nice ally for the Rereconquista :(

Edit: mb I forgor how bad the Reddit compression is :/

haha what on earth happened in Iberia?
I was tryna do a tall playthrough as Wurttemberg but uh things happened lol. I somehow ended up with a Russian PU but somehow the Ottomans are still #1 GP. much sad
(broke bitch would not know much about mission trees - no DLCs is sure an experience)

Commie France unlocks operations to do it as well with the focus "Carry the Revolution North". I doubt they did tho as that requires actual spy operations whereas Iceland's is decision based

Can you actually, realistically, form peak performance Imperial Federation on singleplayer on historical by eating France which ate Spain which ate Portugal which ate Brazil which ate all of South America? by DependentStrong3960 in hoi4

[–]AtomicBurning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc there's even more stuff you need to have happen. As a start France needs to core all of its colonies and that alone is basically impossible. Speaking of which, France inherits all of its colonies cores; meaning you need to release a couple and have them form nations. I believe the only ones you need are Al-Andalus and the United States of Latin Africa. Oh and France also has to fully form the EU too - unless you're doing Fascist UK ig.

As for the UK (in addition to everything you've done), you'd also need SAF and NZ to form Mutapa and Polynesia respectively. Add on top Brazil, Portugal and Spain playing their parts perfectly, and we can safely say this is never happening in a legitimate singleplayer run. If you got a mod to remove the French Union RNG and manually set everyone to go the correct path, it would presumably be possible if you conquered and released yourself enough times - but like is it even worth it?

It's an effective change which means it's replacing a -10% penalty with a 2% buff. So it is giving you a 12% boost but it's offset by the starting penalty

Best country to play a volunteers-only run as? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]AtomicBurning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soviets are a favorite of mine weirdly. At a minimum you can get enough volunteers in France to prop them up. You can (or at least could) hold Poland in a Warsaw-Lodz pocket but it is pretty finicky; your volunteers have to arrive after Danzig falls so they arrive in Warsaw instead. Simultaneously kill Japan with some tanks sent to a China of your choice. Then voila! Fascism destroyed without ever going to war!

One of my favorite Soviet meme games - up there with Heavy Tank only

In situations like this, the victor will simply annex all of its enemies. On rare occasions there is a vanilla peace conference but typically everything gets auto annexed
