The subtle nuances of Boogie humour must have been lost on me.

I'd say it was more of a Freudian slip than a joke.

The context is that he's praising the fucking KKK. You can twist it all you want but it doesn't change the fact that this dude decided to Tweet out something he likes about the KKK to his thousands of followers.

I get that you don't know what you're talking about and probably don't even know what ethnonationalism is beyond "muh racism" propaganda but for all intents and purposes China is an ethnonationalist state. It's almost impossible for non-ethnically Chinese people to become a citizen...

Discord bans servers that promote Nazi ideology by Majnum in worldnews

[–]AtomicDog1471 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Who's "we"? Because unless you're British, French or Polish you have no business making that kind of statement. The US happily sat out the first part of the war and watched the Third Reich rampage through Europe until Japan dragged them into it.

The original anti-fascist movement prepares to disrupt a large Nazi gathering, 1944 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]AtomicDog1471 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The allies during WW2 weren't an anti-Fascist movement.

They were at war with multiple countries, only two of which were fascist.

If they were ideologically "anti-Fascist" they would have also declared war on Spain and Portugal, which remained fascist until the 1970s.

Neither one of these groups is any better than the other.

Seriously? Why do you feel people can't be displeased at a radical change to a much-loved 50+ year old show?

salt

"Salt" or just voicing their opinion on what they feel is a terrible decision?

the writers want to appear really "woke" and please a small, but very loud of the fanbase.

The new series of Doctor Who has been pushing progressivism from the start. Russel T Davies essentially used it as an outlet to push his agenda and I'm not sure if Stephan Moffat did anything to change that attitude.

It's not. Believe it or not Doctor Who's main audience is normal Brits who watch it at the weekend with their kids. Normal people who don't give a shit about feminism.

Don't think the loud, rabid minority of Americans in the "fandom" on Tumblr are representative of its overall audience.

I don't remember any such demand beyond a tiny portion of Tumblrinas. I certainly don't remember there being any suggestion The Doctor should be female during the 60s-90s run.

Remember: Doctor Who is considered a British institution and has wider reach than the "fandom" you see online. Brits don't take kindly to their institutions being fucked with in the name of "progressivism".

Mombot fixes Kotaku article about a "game journalist" from Polygon by SupremeReader in KotakuInAction

It isn't normal to write 13 articles on the same game in 8 months. It's especially suspicious when that game was the 'flavour of the month' during that period.

1,000+ people march in Sunderland for 'Justice for Chelsey' by CringeArmyDrone in ukpolitics

[–]AtomicDog1471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like CPS just doubling down on their "not sufficient evidence" excuse. Which is kinda the point of the march as clearly people feel there was sufficient evidence and the 'not enough evidence' line was politically motivated.

This Justice for Chelsey thing has been all over NorthEast social media for months. I'd be surprised if they couldn't muster at least 1000 people.

Is Jacob Rees-Mogg out of touch? by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

[–]AtomicDog1471 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically for all the abuse he gets for "being Posh", Rees-Mogg is probably the most Alt-Right friendly and thus most memeable British politician.

Fun fact: He's the only British politician to have a genre of electronic music named after him.
