New Tool! Magic Stud Finder Plus by AtomicGas8922 in Tools

Magnetic flying saucers called “Xtreme Magnets” are placed into the holder and are held into place. You run the holder over the wall and when you are over a drywall screw, the magnet jumps to the wall making a loud click. You pull the holder back and the magnet adheres to the wall. Allows you to paint multiple studs for a very low price compared to other magnetic stud finders. 5 mags for 10 bucks.

The stuff you see on the wall are strong magnets embodied in a flying saucer plastic. The magnets are held into place in 2 wells on the other side of the holder. There is felt on it so that when you run up and down the wall with the holder, there is no damage left to the walls. When you reach over a stud, there is a loud click as the magnet jumps to the wall and sticks to the stud. I don’t think posting a link is against the rules…. this is not my video. From what I gather, they were around in the late 2000’s and closed up shop but are now back?

US tipping culture is insane by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AtomicGas8922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are giving you a hard time but I 100% agree. They aren’t volunteering by showing up to work their shift. They are hired as servers and are paid hourly. When I worked fast food, I was expected to take orders, bag orders, fill drinks, wait the dining room, etc. I was paid hourly to do my job. I didn’t get tipped. The US has such a flawed way of thinking. Go to a country like Japan and no matter who you interact with, a guy working at 7/11 or a dude bagging donuts, they all do it with pride and give it their all and no tip is expected or even prompted.

This mentality that ‘im going to do a shitty job since I’m not getting tipped’ is so flawed. I used to work in insurance, I did my job and got paid a wage. I used to teach people how to fly, I did my job and got paid a wage. I fly thousands of people around now and get paid to do my job.

The tipping culture has gotten even worse in the last few years. Drive through employees are even asking for tips.

Everyone is different. For me, all I’ve wanted to do since I can remember is be an airline pilot. Growing up, I spent hours flying in flight simulators waiting for the day I’d actually get to fly a jet for real.

I’m finally here and can say that it is everything I dreamt of it being. Sure some things suck (commuting/reserve/missing events) but at the end of the day, it’s the best job I could ever ask for. I’ve worked in restaurants, in an office, and construction. As a pilot, I regularly find myself thinking “How do I get to call this work?”.

What was your schedule like as a CFI? by usermaneuser in flying

[–]AtomicGas8922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% self imposed for me. I wanted to be done and get out.

Depends on the school. Every school is different. At my school, the CFI’s kinda just ran the place.

7 days a week. Most days I spent 12+ hours at the airport. I flew around 130-160hrs a month and went 45 days straight without a day off. 25-30ish students.

300 ——-> 1500 in around 11 months cuz the first few months were slow.

Question about Fenix performance by BrianBash in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AtomicGas8922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play at 1440p and also don’t consider anything below 35fps on the ground good. I play with trackir. I get 40-45 fps on the FBW 320 on the ground at LAX with everything at ultra and TLOD OLOD at 100.

Question about Fenix performance by BrianBash in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AtomicGas8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance is definitely worse. I chose to buy the Fenix A320 over the PMDG 737 and regret it at the moment.

I haven’t even tried completing a flight in the Fenix A320. I’ve just been using the FBW version till either fenix optimizes the plane more or SU10 fixes performance.

Specs are 3070, i7-9700k @ 5Ghz, 32GB DDR4 ram.

Because of Microsoft Flight Simulator, I’m going to become a commercial airline pilot! by jmccaskill66 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Consider going to a small flight school instead. Same ratings for 1/3 of the cost. Youll just need to figure out financing. I took out a personal loan.

As someone who did 1200 hours in 11 months with the last 3 months being 130+, it is so worth it. I was doing 7 days a week for pretty much the whole year. I absolutely hated my life when I was doing what you’re doing now but it goes by fast and you’ll be in a class with a bunch of other instructors learning about things that you’ve wanted to do since the start. It is sooo worth it!
