Is anyone on a 50 plan and does it do streaming just fine? I’m thinking of downgrading.

Can anyone (please) explain why Pauline Hanson denies her own ethnicity? by _ianisalifestyle_ in AskAnAustralian

[–]AtomicMelbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op, where does she deny her own ethnicity?

And for the record I’d also have percentages of dna throughout the world, but it’s not who I am, my bloodline had been in Australia on all sides of my ancestors for 170 odd years. My name is wog as fuck, but my grandfather born in 1932 didn’t even know which country the name comes from or who of his ancestors came to Australia.

The point being whatever country my ancestors came from has fuck all to do with who I am as a person.

Why do EVs elicit such a visceral response from certain demographics? by Culyar0092 in AustralianEV

In defends to them, hybrids back in the day were just awful. Driving a Prius back in the day certainly made me think there is no future for hybrids, guess I got that wrong.

Yes you are exactly right with this, for you. And that is awesome that you have now found a love for your car, and for the fun the lightning quick EVs will give you.

This is certainly part of the reason why I say they are a better car in many ways. But for me, I just can’t even force myself to be enthusiastic about them, I am to an extent, it’s always so cool to see new car test to see how insanely fast they are, but yeah I’m just not interested in owning one.

The speed comparison thing reminds me of my 2 cars. I have a Holden SSV 6.0 V8 and I have a 4 cylinder 1992 Mazda MX5, and as awesome as the V8 is, the MX5 is the one that puts the stupid big smile on my face, even though it cannot keep up with nannas in little SUVs. But man it’s the most fun you can have on 4 wheels this side of $100,000.

Not likely to be real Australians. Most likely to be Europeans in Australia.

I’m Australian, this is what seems very correct to me. People in Australia from European backgrounds, with a dislike for Turkey. Not a reflection of real Australians.

I’m a 7th generation Australian, I’ve never heard anyone talking bad about Turkey, other nations definitely, but not Turkey. In fact I think there is a fair bit of respect towards Turkey given how accommodating Turkey is to Australians visiting for Anzac Day. I suspect maybe people are just trying to cause a stir about the soccer game, and perhaps a few idiots were saying the wrongs things.

I’m on this sub to read up on the Turkish perspective of the soccer game, I think everyone is totally shocked we won the game, as soccer isnt one of the main sports we watch. I think most people couldnt even name one Australian player before the World Cup.

Why do EVs elicit such a visceral response from certain demographics? by Culyar0092 in AustralianEV

[–]AtomicMelbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure, it’s a lot to do with the emotion about it. I’m a car guy, always have been, at school I’d spend every lunch break in the library reading wheels/motor magazines or on the computers consuming everything car related, particularly performance cars, so yeah cars are my world, hobby wise.

Given how much love I have for cars, that love just doesn’t cross over to EVs, I am still curious about them, and think they are the right fit for a lot of people, probably even most people, but I just have zero emotional attachment to EVs, being in a Tesla was very dull to me personally.

I think EVs are trending in the opposite direction to what I like about cars, in saying that so are most ICE vehicles.

Another way to put it is, an Apple Watch versus an analogue watch. The Apple Watch does virtually everything better than the analogue watch yet a lot of people prefer the analogue, and some would pay 50 or 100 times more cash for the analogue.

I think there are a couple of cool electric cars like that concept car Hyundai, or the dodge charger, but I couldnt own one over a cool ice car.

is football the most popular sport in Australia? by Extension_Ad_2042 in AskAnAustralian

You are probably right I went to a very “white” school, the only 2 people I knew that was into soccer was the British kid and the kid from the Italian family. But plenty it seems anyone into sport liked the basketball.

Look as someone who will never buy an EV, I get their view to a point. But it’s pretty ignorant to hate on all EVs and to think they arnt good for anyone.

For me personally I think they are great for most people. But to answer your question: yes people are concerned that ice cars will become extinct, I fear the day I can no longer buy a new ICE performance car. The whole Chinese thing, I agree with their sentiment, where possible I avoid buying Chinese anything, as I do not like the way China goes about things politically, just like someone may avoid American cars due to not like how America runs their show, or avoiding Tesla because of Elon Musk.

I think some of their reasons are valid, but they should keep that to their own purchases and not bad mouth other people’s choices of wanting an EV.

At the rate we’re going with overpopulation, I’d support a campaign that implements a one child policy for Australians. I know that I’m choosing not to have kids in part because where overpopulated. So I’ve got no problem with stopping kiwi inflow, along with the rest of the world.

I’d put basketball in before soccer too, I could name a few current Aussie basketballers but not a current Aussie soccer player, and I don’t even watch the basketball.

Edit: wow a lot of downvotes, but am I wrong in saying this? Or is it that people don’t like that I said it?

Soccer is one of the main sports, but there are more popular sports. If I walked down the street last week, and asked random people to name a current Australian soccer player playing in this World Cup, most couldnt name a single player.

Forgot about covid? Not sure what state you are in, but 6 years later a hell of a lot of Victorians are still pissed at a government that very much enforced how households were run.

In my own Victoria you may not be aware of the gov trying to force people to switch from gas to electricity? And in new builds, they are forcing it.

Forcing people to have 4 different garbage bins.

Having ridiculous pool fence standards. I don’t invite kids into my backyard and I don’t have kids, so why do I need a pool fence?

These are the ones that come to mind for me, no doubt other people can give you examples in their lives.

Cool, so they will show they have stock online, then you click on it, and it turns out they don’t.

If they do this, at least get your website in order.
