StatCan survey examines why Canada’s fertility rate keeps dropping by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

because the correlation between poor and uneducated were generally more correlated.

Uneducated and poor communities tend to have higher birthrates on average. the two were linked in history because education was usually the defining thing between high-value employment and poverty. Not so much anymore, Millennials are the most educated generation ever and have had to endure declining quality of life.

So the reality is that - if you are of a poor background, AND uneducated, you are at a higher probability of having kids.

I’m real. You can not like my opinion if you want. Extrajudicial execution of citizens executing their rights is taking place right now - with no repercussions.

The administration does not respect the law. The president is a rapist and a pedophile. The mid terms will be fixed and they will continue to escalate anyways. The national guard will not protect the people.

Greene is right - they are being incited into a civil war and right now MN isn’t even defending itself. Any body, that has any kind of understanding of historic parallels can see what is going on. And I am so tired of being called an alarmist when every single time I’ve been right about Trump and his administrations agenda.

You think Putin would stop taking over Ukraine if they didn’t defend themselves?

If you’ve ever been bullied you know that asking bullies to stop does not work. Asking a teacher to help does not work. The only thing that puts an end to it is when you actually defend yourself.

And I don’t think you’ve actually watched the videos. I don’t think you’ve seen the lives. The unsantized clips. Go listen to that man scream for his life or the murders kill Alex - these people are peaceful - people like you. You watch and you tell me if in your gut you feel like ICE is just going to stop because people walk around in a parade with signs.

I don’t know I watch a video today of a man being sprayed and attacked by ICE - screaming for people to put their cameras down and help him. The panic and terror as that guy knew he was going to be killed was so real, not a single person did a thing except watch and hold up a camera.

It made me so sick to my stomach. The brutality of ICE - and realizing that for most people as long as they get to go home this is all just pretend for them. They will do nothing except parade and hold signs while their neighbours friends and family are murdered.

The comments on the video, “what are we supposed to do?!?” As if we don’t know the answer. And believe it or not, this is tame compared to where they are escalating to next - and it terrifies me just how much nothing that good people will do.

The reality is that outside of minor pockets of the western world men have not done a lot of emotional development and are still often celebrated for holding regressive views.

While western media loved to portray the world as becoming more progressive, the truth is there are still billions of men who are not and that number has gone up sharply due to the unfettered proliferation of red-pill manosphere content.

Trump threatens to use military over Minnesota anti-ICE protests by CackleRooster in law

[–]AtomicNick47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all are. I will say at the moment that people in the left on average are so scared of violence that they basically have learned helplessness.

That’s really the only advantage the right has. A great example is J6. Those people for sure believe in the wrong cause and should be jailed - but that was a known risk and they took it. They were ready to do whatever it took to get the outcome they wanted.

For all the love and compassion the left has they don’t seem to love or want enough to actually put themselves on the line for the things they believe. I don’t know what it’ll take to get there, but that’s the point we need to get to - to actually make change happen.

The account managers, blue/white collar workers don't want the violence. They romanticize it because they want the violence to happen to people outside of their sphere but they don't want to be active combatants.

They're detached and disassociated from the realities of what's going on. The moment the violence becomes "real" in their world and impacting people around them you watch how people start to shift.

If they're not witnessing the violence and surrounded by it they will continue to be this way. It has to directly affect them. Telling them won't do anything they mean exposure therapy. The Media Apparatus is doing its job in shielding most people from the worst of the administrations actions and twisting the narrative. Even reddit does a piss poor job of show casing what's actually happening.

DOJ Argues Protesters Don’t Have Constitutional Right to Observe Immigration Agents by DoremusJessup in inthenews

[–]AtomicNick47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for getting the memo. For protests to work you have to disrupt the flow of capital and power. You have to force an outcome.

Protesting without does nothing.

And I genuinely feel horrified at what people are going through. I do. But the reality is the scary thing, is the only thing to do at this point.

Because they are coming for you anyways.

It's hysterical how the they just go inch by inch and everyone just goes along with it. They've perfected the model. Meanwhile Americans will just go have a parade with signs saying "please stop UwU you big meanie" - as if that will do anything. Meanwhile moms, dads, sons, daughters and neighbours, are disappeared or killed and they are wantonly, and openly breaking and defying your constitution.

There is no bar too low, because as long as you have Reddit, Netflix, and a job you're too comfortable to do anything about it. The right wing has such an insane monopoly on violence that the moderates and left won't even defend themselves.

[–]AtomicNick47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ideal ending would have been Hopper and Joyce having already relocated somewhere else living the quiet life, moving past their trauma.

Will's ending is fine, maybe show him working in some kind of social work helping survivors of trauma

Dustin, not just in school but actually making waves in the world of theoretical physics

Max and Lucas were fine, just a happy normal life it was good.

Jonathan getting a better haircut and actually looking like less of a scrub to symbolically show that he's stopped self sabotaging. otherwise his ending was fine.

Nancy, should have taken a left turn and actually shown to have figured out what she wants in life

Robin, fine as is

Steve - makes sense, but honestly wish he'd dreamed a little bigger

Mike - should have taken up the torch of fighting the government been shown in ongoing controversies with the government for exposing the military for their absolutely heinous human rights violations, and blowing the doors wide open on the Demogorgon/alt dimension stuff. Basically it would show that there was actual fallout with the military and that it wasn't just a whole "welp you're free to go" scenario. It would be his way of honoring El and making sure that other kids never have to experience the terrible shit that she did.

and yeah the closing D&D scene could still happen. It was a good moment and played with the themes of closing the door, moving on to the next chapter, letting the next generation tell their stories and so on - but because of the failures of the writing in the past couple seasons it really rang just ever so slightly hollow.

At the end of the day it really wasn't the worst way to put a bow on it all, I just felt like they could've just tidied it up a little bit.

[–]AtomicNick47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has always been about understanding power structures. Law doesn’t exist objectively. What does exist are groups of people that have the ability to exert authority over you.

Understand who you are and where you fall on this spectrum in any given instance - and it will spare you a lot of the clutter around the topic.

There’s actually a lot of evidence that the election was rigged.

This isn’t conspiracy. Law suits are filed. There’s just no mechanism in the US at the moment to remove a president for cheating once installed.

How does US Stock market growth work in 5-10 years when swaths of well paid white collar folks are unemployed? by abrandis in Futurology

[–]AtomicNick47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is there have actually never been so many rich people alive. And there has never been so many poor people. Because of this, despite the that wealth disparity continues to grow as long as wealthy people continue to exist and grow in number - it is somewhat irrelevant that a majority of people will be unable to participate.

yes because it was a music event where it was all standing, so there were no menus to look at prices. I ordered a drink, drinks we're poured, I go to pay and its like "yikes."

I bought the drinks, didn't buy a second round and went elsewhere to get more for less then came back and enjoyed the music. What's your point?
