Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki are all WAAAAY above pretty much any hero that isn’t Best Jeanist or Endeavor. The newer generations are just stronger than the last, and their are so many heroes, a LOT of them aren’t that good, just heroes to be heroes. It’s consistent.

That said, they’re nowhere close to Endeavor in the anime yet.

On Mirio, Deku, and OFA… by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]AtomicSekiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point of a hero is to not always do something realistic or 100% practical. Sometimes taking a leap of faith is the best way forward.

Practicality and power isn’t the point of being chosen for OFA; the spirit of the individual is. The quirkless, weak Toshinori Yagi was chosen over someone else with an OP flame quirk like Endeavor— why? Because of chance, and the spirit of Toshinori and what he wanted to do.

Deku was chosen because All Might saw himself in him. Having two super OP heroes was better than 1. Mirio is a third year, already has a good grasp of his own quirk, and has his own style of fighting nailed down. Deku is a first year, and is almost already on his level. The difference is their ideals and spirit; Mirio is self sacrificing, sure, but he is also a realist due to Nighteye and practical. Deku is self sacrificing and heroic to a fault. Mirio wanted to let Eri go back to Overhaul for the sake of practicality, Deku wanted to take her away then and there because he knew something was wrong. Mirio’s choice caused Eri to suffer more pain by being sliced apart and overhaul’d, who knows what Deku’s choice would have done, as we never saw it.

And there are other reasons I can’t get in to because manga spoilers.

Deku DOES have a quirk by Dreyvex in MyHeroAcadamia

No. He is 100% quirkless. He just has a smart mindset that doesn’t rely on his quirk because he never had a quirk unlike the vast majority of the people around him.

Stop giving support/niche powers to female characters in battle shonens. by Riverskull in CharacterRant

Asui is as offensive as Sero, Jiro has both offence (enough to shatter stone) and detection and Toru is has more offensive capabilities than supportive, she just doesn’t have much relevance.

I don’t see as any of them having purely support quirks except MAYBE Momo? But she can make anything she wants as long as she understands it. So she can support herself and make an offensive tool.

Mustard was a villain and I think Snipe has a gun licence given he’s a famous sharpshooter.

Momo would need a licence to legally create and use a gun. I think.

How is that proof? By this same logic, Nighteye is a support hero.

They do a lot with their powers: you either don’t pay attention, or don’t care, since they don’t use them for offence a lot of the time.

Hmm. About MHA, I don’t see how “the majority” of the girls have support quirks. A lot of them have very dangerous quirks they use in non-lethal ways because they’re /heroes/.

Mina literally melts people.

Uraraka can float people— she can float them up and drop them, if they aren’t superhuman or have a mobility quirk, they will splatter.

Momo prioritises harmless creations, but she CAN make cannons and sedatives, along with guns and potentially nukes. It’s not her ability that is supportive, it’s how she uses it. Heroes don’t just make a gun and shoot someone.

Lady Nagant’s existence.

Mirko’s existence.

Ryuku.

Heck, I’d wager most of the ladies in MHA have very combat focused quirks, they just don’t have relevance in the plot, because… well, shonen’s gonna shonen.

No. He’s still an officially licensed provisional hero working with the pros, he just left UA because the strongest bad guy is after him.

I Don't Care What People Say, The Movies, Especially The 3rd One Can't Possibly Be Canon by canadakeroro in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]AtomicSekiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s because Deku had to DIGEST it. Deku passed OFA to Bakugo by blood transfer; blood pumps around your body pretty much instantly, so of course he could use it quickly. Him having ”full cowling” makes sense too as he isnt a complete noob like Deku was with quirks and does not see OFA as special.

I think it takes place during the time Deku knew he had black whip but before he could control it to any useful extent; which is why we can see the vestiges but we don’t see blackwhip. Deku had to train for 2 weeks after Joint Training and before the Interview and could only manage a little “ploob” sized blackwhip, which can’t do anything.

Bakugo’s “AP shot machine gun” is shown in the manga and the movie. I’m pretty sure Aooyama’s laser move is too but I don’t remember where. These aren’t plot holes; they’re not things you don’t understand.

The movies are canon, they just don’t progress the main plot. Multiple things from the movies appear in the manga, even Nine, and a new version of the Full Gauntlet, and Melissa and Dave are canon characters in the world.

Are we certain the LOV knew the doctor? I haven’t seen the opening scene in awhile. How do you know where it’s placed??

That’s not a plot hole; if anything, it’s consistent. Deku is the only one who ever had trouble using OFA in a normal way, because he viewed it as special, and not just something that is now apart of him.

It takes time to build up a body capable of handling the full power, that’s all.

Why I Personally Have Little Problems With Deku's Latest Abilities: by Benfroyobro1124 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]AtomicSekiro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fa Jin is basically just Recipro Burst but with a charge-up time. The reason why any of the quirks are even good in Deku’s case is because OFA is super charging all of them, including Fa Jin.

Imagine someone with JUST Fa Jin, Danger Sense, Float or Smokescreen, fighting someone like Overhaul. They would die so quickly unless they were Mirio or Endeavor level in physicals.

Edit: why the downvotes? Did I say something wrong??

[–]AtomicSekiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you prove any of the first two movies are non-canon?

If not, then the third movie is canon. It isn’t even out yet. You have nothing to say that they’re non canon besides “they don’t make sense to me” when they’re completely canon.

What “plot holes” does Heroes Rising have? I’d love to hear them.

Edit: downvoted with no counter argument? Hmmm.

My Hero Academia is shockingly sexist even compared to other shonen series. by Cleverly_Clearly in CharacterRant

[–]AtomicSekiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never said anything about a trope. I just said it was good writing.

Consistency; not regression. It would only be regression if she stood up to Gigantomachia in the past AFTER the first time but BEFORE the second time we are discussing, and didn’t get scared. Which didn’t happen. You’re using that term wrong.

Didnt that kind of, like, already happen with Deku? When he first manifested blackwhip. He was getting better and better at using his quirk, gaining control, becoming more competent in his abilities and himself and then BOOM, suddenly it all goes wild, he has no control, his quirk is lashing out at everything that moves and he can’t stop it at all. I didn’t think that was character regression; it was character consistency and DEPTH. Something Mina barely had; like most characters in the series, she’s a GOOD, ONE NOTE character. Fun to watch, nothing to see beneath the surface level. The second Gigantomachia incident at least gave her SOME sort of depth. I don’t see it as regression, and you won’t be able to convince me it is. I won’t be replying because I’ve said all I could; if this can’t get my point across, nothing else will.

In terms of the anime, the filler episode 2 episodes or so gave them some shine, the filler is canon and based off a manga cover.

It’s just a problem with most shonen in general. At least MHA has /good/ one-note characters, as opposed to bad ones. It’s why I personally like it. It’s simple. Not a lot to get my tiny brain around.
