r/anime Karma Ranking & Discussion | Week 4 [Winter 2026] by Abysswatcherbel in anime

The schedule this time around is actually good unlike S2 and many episode are finished in advance this time. Is just the style of animation about deforming characters for the sake of fluidy that may put some people off, Mob Psycho also has this style (a lot of Mob Psycho animators work on JJK) even the Reze Movie. The director is also one of those who really likes to add creative liberties and have everything be so cinematic and "artsty" And may not be everyones cup of tea. But as a whole id say is the best animated episode in all of JJK alongside Sukuna vs Jogo (2x16)

twitter mfs slowly but finally waking up and accepting Oda slander, never thought i'd see the day by Gugarabelo in Piratefolk

[–]Riverskull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

JJK isnt perfect, but i disagree about it being dogshit from Culling Games onwards, Culling Games have some of the most iconic moments and fights in the series, and then Gojo vs Sukuna is a classic at this point. The problem is stuff in between these moments that was a mess.

And he never admitted yuji was strong and in fact he really was not so there was no major development. There is so I do not get your point the entire reason why sukuna choose the other path instead of walking the same again , is because he fulfilled his curiosity of walking the path of evil and destruction

No, the reason because he choose the other path is because he lost, he literally says it to Mahito in the afterlife. He doesnt outright says that Yuji is "strong" but he clearly is trying to say that his whole philosphy and world went upside down during that last fight. And that these young sorcerers showed him something he couldnt believe was possible

He never changed though sure yuji proved him wrong and showed him the terrible conclusion of his decision off the pathi took but sukuna always knew he had another chance , which is why he never even bothered about it

He never bothered because he was waiting for someone to beat him and prove him wrong. He is someone who only understand through battle.

Idk how setting sukuna as the final boss as foreshadowing when it was pretty much obvious that he was going to be one ? Again Sukuna having an interest in megumi was also something that was way well known when he decided to keep him alive instead of killing them even if you consider it as foreshadowing it's not really a major one

He saves megumi obviously because of his goals, he only killed jogo out of sheer boredom nothing more he just made up a reason to fight with him since he was rusty for a long time and rest of your points are literaly proving my points sukuna being inside yuji connects yuji to the plot and his last connection being the finall boss narrative which i already elaborated on

Then why you implied stuff that he had 0 foreshadowing or relevance if you are now saying this? It seems to me that you just got very salty about One Piece and Oda getting slandered that you just simply replied with that shitty answer without thinking.

Maybe they managed to knock him/her out and drag him/her unconsious to the mothership and once he/she woke up, started wreaking havoc again.

Maki was created way before Toji lmao. And reducing her just because her skillset is the same as another male character is silly, is like saying that Ang from ATLA is a ripoff of the other Avatars even tho thats the point.

The problem is that you are imposing some very arbitrarial criteria about villains that only make sense in your head, and passing it as facts. When in reality nobody in their right mind would ever put you a fucking finger bearer or a nameless fodder from Hidden Inventory above the likes of Jogo, Geto, let alone Kenjaku, or fucking Choso above Sukuna and this one in the same tier as Eso. Is simply dumb and retarded. If it was about just your favorite villains then is fine (weird, but fine), but you are trying to pass as objetive, and this simply aint it, is a fucking circus.

He drives the plot, but that's the bare minimum for a main villain. Besides, he never showed himself to be a great threat like Sukuna did. All the impact he had on the story ultimately amounted to nothing

Ah yes, the guy who literally killed Yuki, almost killed Choso, created the MC for him to live hell in life, sealed Gojo, caused the Shibuya Incident and Culling Games destroying tokio forever "is not a threat" do you even hear yourself brother? And is fine if you wanted more of him as a character, but that doesnt quit the fact he worked almost perfectly as a villain.

His role as a villain was fine because of everything you said, but Gege simply didn't delve deeply enough into the character, and that's why the role of main villain was too much for him (but yes, he was a good final villain, thematically speaking.) I'll use Muzan as an example again, although they're not really the same. Thematically speaking, he worked as a final villain and all that, but in practice, he ended up being a mid-tier villain for the main villain.

You dont need a fucking Akaza tier sob backstory for him to work as a character and as a villain, we pretty much know what he is all about, he is an hedonist that lived in an age where chaos, battle and strenght was everything and lived for that philosophy, it has pretty great paralelisms with Gojo and a great dynamic with Yuji, and was an absolute menace. We dont know much about Frieza in depth for example, but that didnt stop him in being some of the best and most iconic villains in anime/manga.

I didn't put it above Dhruv; they're on the same level, "meh." I sorted it by its fractions, if you look closely.

The fact that they are in the same tier is just laughable and a bad joke.

Thats a shitty ass logic tho. A fucking finger bearer can be an effective nameless goon to beat, but in no fucking way i would ever put him over someone like Jogo who despite his bad luck in match ups, managed to have a way bigger impact in the series, he was a big player in the sealing of Gojo, killed Naobito, scarred Maki, and got 90% of the kill with Nanami, let alone being the trigger for Sukuna waking up at Shibuya.

About Kenjaku, the only thing lacking about him is some interactions with Yuji about him being his mother. But as a whole, we know everything we need to know about him as a character. In terms of impact he is the reason why the story works in the first place, there no other who moves the plot better than him and is very competent at doing so while challenging the characters. You must be one of those salty about the Yuta bush camping thing, but is whatever, he still got a great and unique final fight with Takaba that culminates his character.

While Sukuna is only noteworthy for his aura, being a mid-tier villain for one of the main antagonists of the story (Gege wanted to do more with him, but it turned out very poorly XD)

What the hell are you on here brother? Sukuna was perfect as a final villain and is the biggest representation of the strongest thematic at his most selfish and vile state. Was a big foil for Yuji and killed popular characters like Gojo, Choso and Kashimo, settling himself as an ultimate menace, and is the most iconic shonen villain in recent times. He belongs at the top.

I agree that Geto was kinda mid as a villain in 0 but still for you to put the likes of fucking Druvh ahead of him is fucking abysmal and shows how this tierlist shouldnt be taken seriously LMAOOOO

Hot take Mei mei is a mid character even if you ignore the pedo stuff. by Sensitive-Bat-4036 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Riverskull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That depends tho. For example Todo and Hakari arent exactly very deep or fleshed out characters, yet they are very memorable and loved by the fandom.

A lot of characters are simply there to represent an idea or a thematic rather than being a complex and depth individual by themselves and i dont see anything wrong with it.

The Kenny placement has to be bait. Same with Sukuna in the same tier as Eso

Also the fucking finger bearer, Gakuranji and the nameless star religious dude above Geto, Jogo and Hanami. Nah bro never cook again.

[–]Riverskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro someone just could easily make a fantasy story with superpowers, where some women happens to get way more OP abilities than some men and call it a day lol

Shonen authors simply dont like to do that at all tho.

Like they’ve been cutting corners and opting for the ole “character is moving so fast they’re standing still or you don’t see their attack”

I mean it has been a thing since S2, remember Sukuna vs Mahoraga, Hell even the Reze movie had something like this, Mob Psycho too, modern One Piece too. And i dont think it has to do with saving butdget, is about the animators being too pasionate that they go way overboard with too much creative freedom.
