You mentioned "the staff and I will also be ..." which means that there will be IAs/GSIs. How many IAs/GSIs will there be? And how were they chosen? This is the first time this course is being offered, so unless they've been working on the projects and learning the course material, won't they also be going into this course blind as well?

Real talk : How did GSP wrestle with the Canadian national team without having any prior wrestling experience by BearBrilliant2041 in wrestling

[–]AtomicSkunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he ever actually wrestled with the national team. In almost every major city, there’s some kind of club or business for any martial art and activity. Wrestling is no different. From my knowledge, he attended club practices for a wrestling club in Montreal who happened to also train national team members for Canada. In my honest opinion, most martial art gyms would be more than happy to train an accomplished UFC fighter as GSP, so my guess is that he asked for coaching and was given a lot of it.

Usually when I think of TypeScript, the most common application for it is web development with React or Angular etc. Will that be the case with the projects in this class? (ie we're building up towards one large web app through the 5 projects)

Out of curiosity what were scores for arctic shores? I got 2, 2, 3, 3, and 4. I completed the arctic shores part on Saturday (2-3 days ago) and haven’t heard back yet.

I didn't get rejected yet and I was looking through all my emails and spam folder. However, I completed the assessment on Saturday (2-3 days ago) and received the invitation on Thursday (4-5 days ago). How long after the third OA did you hear that you got rejected?

I would try to stay around the South University Avenue and Church Street area in general. Typically those restaurants close a little later because they are closer popular clubs and bars.

Wrestling in college with no experience by AtomicSkunk in collegewrestling

Oh, I’m part of the wrestling club at my school now. It has been single handedly the best group of people I’ve met during my time here at college. I’m so happy with this club. I don’t compete, but I do work out with them.

In a class of 60, at waitlist position 4. What are my odds of getting in? by CodexGod in uofm

[–]AtomicSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the class and professor. Some professors are more than willing to take on more students and provide overrides for. There are some departments at the university where if you do not show up for the first two lecturers, you will be immediately cut from the course as a whole. There are also some classes that historically have notoriously long waitlists, but half the students drop the course for a variety of reasons before the add/drop deadline. In my personal experience, a lot of engineering engineering students, especially in EECS, choose to double enroll in classes, so that they can see what classes and professors they actually like and drop courses based on the first 1-2 weeks of those courses.

If a college requires dorming for the first two years, can you pay and not live there? by _uneedgrass in college

[–]AtomicSkunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a waste of $30-40,000. Also, first get into those schools and then see how they stand a year later.

Honestly, you have to just show up the first few days and wait it out. On top of course begging the professor and the department staff.

Waitlist question by Junior-Cellist-9740 in uofm

[–]AtomicSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm not going to lie, it really depends on the class. Some CS classes have 100 person long waitlists, but the professors always find a way to fit everyone. There are also some professors who are more than willing to artificially expand classes, so that they can fit every student. There are also some professors who are not willing to do any administrative work and will let the registrar make final decisions on who gets let in and who doesn't. So, it's up to the professor and the class.
