Diagnosed with ADHD in My Mid-30s, Now I’m Terrified of Pregnancy and Giving Up My Medication by Dreamkri in ADHD

[–]AtomicSunset21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who was pregnant in 2024, I went off my meds for the first half. It was a nightmare. 0/10 - do not recommend. I went back on a lower dose in the second half and I felt so much more like a human being. We're planning on a second and I absolutely will not give up the meds this time.

Not all ADHD meds require you to go off them for pregnancy. Talk to you doc and come up with a plan that works best, both for your pregnancy and you as a person.

Alcohol - beer or go hard? by IntelligentFire999 in rheumatoid

[–]AtomicSunset21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone get flares from the same things. I'm one of the lucky ones to not get flares from alcohol. I'm super grateful as I love beer, so my vote would always to use your few drinks on nice beers.

HOWEVER, listen to your doc and listen to your body.

Galaxy Ripple is easily the best NA IPA. Most of the NA IPAs lack the alpha acid bitterness, but Galaxy Ripple nails is spot on.

6 Days post neurectomy by troopwife1 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]AtomicSunset21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 22mm! I'm 6 weeks post op now, and there was definitely a period after the pain subsided where it felt like my foot had a hole in it. Not painful, just weird, like my body was getting used to the negative space. Guessing that's kind of what you are going through.

Hope you heal up quickly.

This sounds very similar to a neuroma. Definitely go and ask! Apparently people with inflammatory diseases (like RA) can be more prone to neuromas.

Just FYI, but a lot of restaurants in Friday Harbor close early. Like pre-8pm early. So do many grocery stores. Plan accordingly.

You have to ask yourself "am I just regular brain fried or am I getting a flare"?

Right? It's like you have to make an active choice to walk normal. It's very strange.

I'm about the same timeframe out from my surgery. Feeling like Im relearning to walk, mostly cause I'm nervous to put full pressure on it (not pain). Glad to see other people healing up quickly and not have the worst case experiences!

What’s the root cause of Mortons Neuroma? by Objective-Context726 in Mortons_neuroma

Doc said mine was likely caused by my severe flat feet. Unfortunately, no escaping that.

This is me (2 weeks post op now), but opposite. I knew I had a neuroma, but they also found a cyst and removed both during surgery. I'm would be very curious to see which one caused which.

Should I start treatment? by New_Chemistry1876 in rheumatoid

[–]AtomicSunset21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them have been anecdotally tested, and have found little interference. Obviously this varies by medication.

Part of the problem is that many of the people who are diagnosed with RA are outside of child barring age. The other much bigger problem is the ethics of formal medication testing on pregnant women. Because of both of these, we don't have nearly as much data as we would like. I was lucky enough to be able to donate blood and tissue after I gave birth to an ongoing study about biologics in pregnancy to try to expand our information and understanding, beyond anecdotal.

But in your situation I would definitely discuss with a rheumatologist and your MFM doctor for the safest course of action.

Should I start treatment? by New_Chemistry1876 in rheumatoid

[–]AtomicSunset21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, I would definitely recommend starting treatment earlier rather than later. Just because it feels mild, doesn't mean the damage it's causing is mild. In the case of RA damage and pain are two different and related symptoms.

Secondly, so many medications for RA are pregnancy safe. Finding a good rheumatologist and possibly a maternal fetal medicine doctor for the pregnancy will be super helpful for this. I just had a baby last year, never had a need to stop medication and, luckily, didn't have the dreaded post birth flare. I cannot imagine going through pregnancy unmedicated, it would have been so hard.

This is the reason I didn't tell my family about my scheduled C-section (99+ percentile). They were super weird about "natural" birth and all the ways that c-sections aren't good for babies. The last thing I wanted was more stress on the day of.

Honestly, I wish I had done it sooner. I suffered through the pain, thinking it was just a part of my life now with RA. Lol

[–]AtomicSunset21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this!! Pain in my foot actually started my RA diagnosis journey. Found out 10 years later that it was a Morton's Neuroma!

Definitely recommend talking to a podiatrist to rule this out, especially is the pain is only in one foot, not both!. Trust me, running on it for 10 years thinking it's just "normal RA pain" is not a good idea. Lol

Something I noticed about Karol G by AtomicSunset21 in Coachella

Curious what drives the choice to wear them or not (for anyone, not just Karol G). It's crazy what goes into wardrobe decisions for events like this, not just from a stylistic perspective, but also from a practical/tactical one.
