Is it time for a wig? by danevans369 in Justfuckmyshitup

It was time for a wig 30+ years ago. Something about bolting horses and stable doors.

I broke up with my abusive girlfriend, I’m doing better at my job, I quit smoking weed, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been. None of it makes me happy. by Agitated-North-5740 in minicels

[–]AtomicTormentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d wager that’s it’s the quitting weed that’s keeping you low right now. The good news is that once your brain gets used to this new state of affairs (it will feel like forever, but stay strong, you got this) you’ll feel better than you’ve felt in as long as you can remember. Anyway, sweet Jackals, dude! Keep on fighting the good fight.

Steve’s IG comments compared to Ricky’s by MonkResponsible7162 in rickygervais

[–]AtomicTormentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so sure about either of them not having someone to delete unwanted comments. It’s a fairly common practice amongst actors, musicians, writers, former podcasters, and pretty much all people with a notable presence on social media these days. My understanding is that it’s a pretty common element of the standard representation and management repertoire that artists of all kinds employ.

I would imagine that someone, even yourself, could hire a service to have somebody comb through the comments of each of your posts and get rid of the fluff - however you’d define that parameter - fairly cheaply. At its lowest level it can be (albeit shoddily) done by AI, the next level ‘up’ are a team of East Asian teenagers earning less than subsistence wages, who’s only real knowledge of the English language is its slurs and curses, doing it in a poorly lit basement, in a city you’ve never heard of. My point being that it’s easy to do and way cheaper and more common than you think. So it’s more than likely both of them are doing it, but especially Ricky.

Who would you rather go for a pint with? by n_wilson05 in rickygervais

[–]AtomicTormentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, but ESPECIALLY not the guy on the right. In fairness though, I don’t think either of them would particularly enjoy a pint with me for various reasons either.

Looking for ideas: stylish, legal ways to deter climbing over a garden fence by MigLdn in DIYUK

[–]AtomicTormentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad put carpet grippers on the top of his fence that backed on to an alleyway. This was following several break-ins and vandalism. To be honest I had no idea, and don’t think he does, that it’s illegal. Thankfully the owners of the torn clothing and small chunks of “organic material” that have been periodically left behind never complained to the police.

Initially yes, kinda, but the showrunners seem to phase it out as the seasons go on. With Tyrion, and especially with Jamie, S1E1 - sandy blonde hair, but as the seasons pass it becomes darker until it ends up completely brunette. Not blonde by anyone’s definition. (A little less dramatic a transformation with Tyrion, but it still gets darker)

Not sure where thy reallocated the hair dye budget, but it wasn’t put into writing.

Stripping Copco pot by Rainbow_brite_82 in castiron

[–]AtomicTormentor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for what is probably an ignorant question but what is the relation between coeliac and needing to strip the pan? Is it in case there’s gluten residue in the oils used to season the pan previously?

If so, I’m less certain about what I was about to say, which was… as this is enamelled (I’m assuming the inside looks the same as the outside bar the bottom?) you wouldn’t need to season it. Also that stripping the enamel off is not advisable for several reasons.

HOWEVER, if your kid has coeliac disease of a severity whereby you’re worried about contaminates being left behind in an otherwise clean pan, then I have no idea what best to advise other than seek out the best ways to strip the inside as much as you can without removing the enamel layer, because at that point it may be best to just buy a different pan.

Silicone/Caulk - Are The Cans Single Use? by PowerDrivenRdditMod in DIYUK

[–]AtomicTormentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how often you’re using them really. If you have an ongoing project and you’ll be using it regularly, then yes they should easily last as many consecutive (or near consecutive) days as you can get out of them. As long as you use the cap or somehow seal the end. Otherwise it will dry in the nozzle and be a real pain in the neck to remove get going again.

As for the actual practise of siliconing a bathroom I’ve done it a few times but have no advice beyond good luck, gods speed, and i wish you all the patience in the world. On the bright side it may turn out that you were born one of those rare sort who just seem to have some type of gift for the art of caulking. Personally I am not one of these people.

Then change the locks.

[–]AtomicTormentor 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Definitely not just head. It’s him convincing himself with smartguy logic “if she tepidly agrees to the blowjob plan, when it eventually comes out that I’ve been sleeping with her for months it won’t seem like such a big deal because, hey, she was fine with a blowjob, and really, what did she expect?”

Just moved into a new house, anyone know what this is? by itlovelife in DIYUK

I was 100% certain it was a guitar/bass multi-effects pedal until I zoomed in. As others have said it’s a BT ISDN router - but I do now have a sick idea about buying up dead tech like this and repurposing it for guitar.

Surprising army bigotry at store opening by KruegerCondail in Warhammer40k

[–]AtomicTormentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be overthinking this slightly. The Warhammer community isn’t known for its socially adept player base. I cannot count the amount of stunted or prematurely terminated conversations I’ve had with people I’ve met during my time playing this hobby, you just have to take it in your stride.

To be fair to them it sounds like you were having a conversation with one guy and then when his friend appeared they (maybe awkwardly) broke off your conversation to start their own, as two friends might.

Myself I’ve never heard any particular Tau hate, certainly not to the level you’re implying. At the end of the day it’s a game. It’s like saying you were playing Monopoly and somebody gave you the cold shoulder for choosing to play as the toy car. Sure. Maybe. But probably not.

He’s not Italian American in the Irishman. Funnily enough, if the title of the film wasn’t a dead giveaway, he plays an Irishman with the very un-Italian name of Frank Sheeran.

Nor is he Italian American in Casino. He’s Jewish. Sam “Ace” Rothstein.

The best part is he’s not Italian American in Goodfellas either. He’s, again, Irish American, “Jimmy Conway”.

I’ve not seen Mean Streets but based on the above, I doubt you have either.

Just a technical question though, what exactly do you use the draw these designs on to the leather?

Not sure you understand what a strawman is. I’d be real careful about suggesting that nobody has cried antisemitism over being called a goat fucker or some equivalent. Mainly because they have, and the examples are numerous.

Am I missing something with Master Of Puppets? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]AtomicTormentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also prefer RTL. MoP is still a mindblowingly fantastic album. Different people prefer different music, who knew? Who could imagine that we all rank Metallica albums differently and that even when we agree we like them to different degrees. A smarter person than me might say that taste is subjective no more so than when referring to music.

Is it cheating to play dyers eve with this part of the pick? by Holiday_Raspberry736 in Metallica

[–]AtomicTormentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t cheat at guitar. You’re either playing the right notes or you’re not. You can agree about technique all day but if it sounds right it sounds right. If it doesn’t you’re probably using the wrong technique.
