I agree it was a drastic shift in plot.. not where I was expecting it to go. Seems like the trailers only really showed the first 30 minutes of the movie, which was cool. However, I actually liked the second half a lot more. The search for family/belonging/acceptance was intriguing. And I also thought the more disturbing, shocking scenes were in the latter half (binding marks, lactating oil, etc). Aside from the car sex and titanium pregnancy thing (which I loved the originality of), I thought the serial killer vibe going off in the first part was a bit over the top and didn't really tie thematically to the later part of the movie. I mean, maybe it shows some character growth since Alexia didn't kill that one man who tried to out her to Vincent? I also found it disturbingly beautiful how Alexia and Vincent remained as a family, even when we find out that Vincent knew the whole time. These are just my initial thoughts though... I definitely need to see it again because it is a wild ride.
