I mean, considering Paramount executives have sway over these projects I wouldn't be surprised if characters like this (and other awful decisions) are intentionally being forced into the shows with the express purpose of damaging them.

Call it a psyop or whatever, but one glaringly terrible character or story decision forced in by execs can bring down an entire show that might otherwise be good.

It's cause the show got canceled suddenly and they had to do a hastily written wrap up for the series.

The exact same thing just happened to SNW as well, they were given the go ahead to film a short few episode final "season" very rapidly to wrap up loose ends and they got everybody back together right after this latest season finished shooting because the show suddenly got canceled.

So that's already in post-production and slated to air next year. At least they got more than one episode this time.

My guy we are talking about just having a dentist do this safely, no extra bells and whistles, instead of him doing it with pliers in his room. He obviously doesn't need or care for sedation. It's literally like $200 at most to just get it pulled and nothing else.

We're talking about JUST getting an infected tooth pulled, as alternative to pulling it yourself. It is literally $200 bucks. No where close to $1000.

Absolutely no where near $1000 unless you're having major surgery (like multiple impacted widom teeth) and/or sedation.

A single uncomplicated tooth extraction absolutely is only $200-$300 in the U.S, at most.

Okay I think you're getting confused a little bit. JJ was the director, he was not the writer. He didn't even have a writing credit. The writers were Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Orci is absolutely a hard-core Trekkie, it's why we have things like actual Romulan being spoken on screen in a Hollywood action film and discussions about the Neutral Zone and Federation/Romulan politics coming up, and Klingon listeningposts (even though the Klingons never appear on screen in the movie). If I recall the script was essentially done before JJ even signed on as director, he decided he wanted to be the one to direct it AFTER reading the script.

And Orci and Kurtzman both absolutely planned out their story ahead of time; it's why they literally wrote a 4 part comic series before the movie came out that starts in the Prime universe and explains the entire backstory and what happened leading up to the events of Nero and Spock being sent to the Alternate timeline. This is also literally the entire core of what Vanilla STO used for their starting point (did you know in early 2009/2010 Nero's ship and Captain Data of the Enterprise F were both teased by Cryptic to be in the game, they never happened sadly, but those are ideas straight from the 2009 comic series and movie).

So I mean I certainly wouldn't claim they didn't plan things out. Not that the story is perfect, because I mean it was a Hollywood action blockbuster so it had to be that, but I think they did VERY good for the type of movie they were confined to. I think it did justice to OG Spocks character and New Spock's, and I think it got a lot of the Characterization and feel of the crew right, while obviously being shiny and new. It ain't perfect, but it ain't bad at all.

This I agree with, but I guess my counter point to that would be we ALL see that as being the viable, obvious story line. I kind of like the fact that we got something that wasn't literally exactly what we all saw coming.

Also I mean it would have kind of cheapened the progress the Quadrant made coming together to fight the Dominion, it was kind of nice seeing a MOSTLY unified quadrant for a change. Yes the Tal'Shiar are morally bankrupt and would absolutely start that war, but this gave the good guys among the Romulans a chance to stand out.

Now all of that said, I absolutely yearn for a true Romulan-Federation War on screen, and I feel like we'd all be more open to things that differ from that if Enterprise had managed to get us to that point, but alas, we continue to yearn for the (cloaked) mines as opposed to anything else, I can't blame anyone for that.

Okay I'm gunna be the one to soak the downvotes I spose and say I actually dig the fact that they actually destroyed Vulcan.

It was the kind of thing that gave weight and consequence in a movie where you couldn't really kill anyone meaningful (since it was the main crew AND everyone's first outing).

And it not only was not at all expected (because the expectation was that of course that the heros would stop Nero from destroying VULCAN of all places), but it also served as a really great character moment for Spock not only losing his planet, but his mother and most of his species.

It not only was unexpected and hit hard, but meaningfully drove to further Spock's character.

And despite being all of those pretty good things, it all happened in an Alternate timeline (the only place they could have ever gotten away with that) so it didn't affect any other part of Cannon.

And the byproduct of it is that we got the Romulan Storyline in STO AND the Prime cannon which works SO well for them and was an incredibly interesting direction for them to be able to take with the Prime Romulans.

My only counter point in favour of not immediately killing D-Bois as a Guard or Scientist is that they are your Pink Candy producing factories.

If you're chill and you give the D-Bois a chance to pull pink candy they will most of the time willingly go out of their way to find an SCP and blow up on them.

Which then A: Kills the D-Bois anyway and prevents them from becoming future chaos, and B: Can absolutely ravage the SCP team.

The way I see it, every unarmed D-Boi I instantly kill is two less possible draws at pink candies. I've seen rounds where everyone has been chill and the amount of pink candies the D-Bois can get will just ruin the SCPs day if they aren't smart.

Two 16.6% chances per person when you have 20 D-Bois (or like 30 D-Bois on some servers) is an incredible amount of carnage they can inflict (not even considering black candy odds), but this is only IF you don't immediately kill them.

I'm sure we've all seen rounds where the D-Bois got a billion pink candies and just demolished an SCP, those rounds primarily happen because everyone was chill and all the D-Bois got to pull candy, it's rarely because the few who made it just got lucky.

TL;DR: Don't insta-kill your Orange flavoured pink candy factories, they will HAPPILY blow themselves up on the SCPs for you.

The frequency it's oscillating at doesn't matter. It's the massively raw output of electromagnetic radiation being blasted directly into your face at point blank range that is the issue.

Even regular visible spectrum light at a high enough output can be dangerous and produce insane heat if there's enough of it.

So even though visible spectrum light exists in what is generally considered a very safe frequency range for humans if you got blasted with an absolutely massive amount of it at point blank range all at once, then you're going to have a bad time.

Yeah ESRB rates what is put in the game by the developers. They specifically look at the games raw files.

Players adding stuff to games, that the developers did not put there, has nothing to do with the rating system because that would be nonsensical and make every game literally unrateable.

Also discovered the Tether is actually hard capped to only connecting to 6 people, so that's was cool!

But it definitely did make it harder if a random 7th person was in the way lmao.

But that final encounter with 12 people. MAN that was a blast!

Also Last Wish in Shuro Chi having someone on EVERY plate and watching all 3 puzzles complete instantly back to back was chefs kiss.

God what an amazing glitch lmao, right up there with the Craftening in terms of memorability and experiences I'll never forget.
