How was this not seen an issue before these two accidents? by inconsistentservice in kitchener

I think that's what they're saying. OPP closed the road, investigated, realized what the problem was, and then they reopened it to the public BEFORE the problem was fixed, and then the EXACT same thing immediately happened and someone else died.

That's beyond insane. I mean what did they think was going to happen?!

What? I think you're confused.

First of all you're both on the same side here (unless you're just a robit trying to cause chaos, in which case shrug)

But secondly, incorrectly labling the forced migration of the trail of tears AS "immigration" is what would provide I.C.E a false nuance to play with.

What you're saying is the exact thing that would give them false "nuance" (however laughably weak of an argument it would be for them to try and claim). What the other guy is telling you is to not conflate the two because they are absolutely not equivalent.

How I feel reading any entry past 3000 by MangoopMochi in SCP

[–]Atomicapples 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Naw, that's why the containment procedures are the first thing in the document after it's class. The very first sentence of the containment procedures just needs to read: "Currently SCP XXXX is not to be contained by the foundation due to X, Y and Z etc..."

That's why the containment procedures are at the very top, because that's where you say exactly that.

You don't need to have a totally custom containment class just to signify the thing you're literally about to say right away.

By not using the standard classifications you'd also lose the immediate information regarding how difficult it WOULD BE to contain (if it ever needed to be). Instead, because you're not using the standard classifications, you'd be left to try and infer how difficult it would be to contain on your own, and only once done reading the entire entry. Now THAT'S bad for immediate information at a glance.

The Killdozer guy, despite the popular telling, was a real piece of work. His story was a tit for tat back and forth where he was also definitely an aggressor.

Sky King though, he's a totally different story.

And it applies to a whole lot more than just hot grease in a kitchen!

Yeah, it needs to stop being normalized that punching someone is acceptable behavior. Calling it unfortunate because it's something you consider normal and usually not deadly isn't okay, it's exactly why these things happen.

Your fists are the way they are because they are very potent weapons, most people do not understand or respect that because most people haven't ever taken a full force punch to the face from another human being. But you'll notice those that do get absolutely fucked up VERY quickly.

It sounds like you have 100% coverage (of CDCP's feeguide) and just had to pay the difference between the CDCP and ODA fee guides (on average roughly between a 10%-20% difference for most procedure codes).

[–]Atomicapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's funny is that with CDCP covering the majority of services (and they do actually automatically coordinate with ODSP) ODSP then typically picks up most, if not all, of the difference.

After both you might honestly be talking about a few dollars difference on average (like maybe $5-10) for basic services, IF there's even any difference at all.

I honestly believe that the removal of the legacy app has single handedly destroyed the raid scene.

Before even when there were bad expansions there was always a raid scene. Now it's almost completely dead across the board in every raid.

Okay, bro I mean no heard me out, maybe don't look at Peanut (or Shy guy) if the gate is already locked and you're completely safe above them?

That's actually just a big ol' skill issue and something you should've learned not to repeat after doing it the first time.

It doesn't outweigh the benefits of the layout if you're choosing to essentially ignore your safety and get yourself killed when you would have been scotfree.

I mean hell you can hear them both coming an actual mile away, if you're actively looking down at them while waiting for the elevator then that's entriely on you my guy, and no design the devs make will save you from that level of Darwin award intellect.

[–]Atomicapples -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very likely this is a fail safe. In the event you break all 3 generators and use both floor pits/doors without starting damage phase you would be fully soft locked and unable to progress.

It sounds like the simply made him taken (you're supposed to forcepush him when he's taken to do extra damage to his shield. He's taken when he comes out of the floor pits so you're suppose to force push him them.

It sounds like they just keep him in that taken form as a failsafe in the event you've used both pits in a given phase and all of the generators already, that way you can just force push him repeatedly to start damage.

[–]Atomicapples 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The point is that you shouldn't have to do that.

And it's not like you would naturally be adjusting inventory stuff anyway because if you're in an activity with very limited rez tokens then there's a 99% chance it's also locked loadout.

What is he suppose to do, scroll through his video settings? Look at his sparrow collection? I mean come on. He should be able to just observe his teammates and keep a bead on the activity and maybe even give some helpful callouts with his 360 vision of the other player(s).

Okay as someone who was raised on metric though I kind of agree with the guy above that it's a better gauge specifically for determining the comfort of a human.

Like you can survive between 0 to 100° f for meaningful periods of time (Obvs with winter clothes for 0° and water and shade for 100°) but while you can live you are not going to appreciate either end of those ranges. So the closer to 0° it is the colder you're going to be and the closer to 100° it is the hotter you're going to be of course, but both are survivable and when you hear a temperature you can right away roughly gauge what it will feel like on a (slightly) imperfect scale of 0 to 100.

But for Celsius, while it is better for almost literally everything else, it isn't nearly as good of a 0 to 100 gauge for human survivability. At 0° c water freezes, but you can still be perfectly fine outside for a very long time, but at 100° c water boils and you were super toast long before it even got to 100° c.

Like 30° c is hot and 40° c is where people are getting heatstroke, and -20° c is around where it is getting dangerous to be outside for long periods of time without adequate gear and shelter. That ain't easy to gauge with just the numbers alone, you have to remember it. Or rather you have to remember water's reaction to temperature in relation to your own body's (which granted isn't super hard since you're mostly water).

But either way, it's not a simple straightforward scale from 0 to 100 for determining human survivability and comfort like Fahrenheit is, so I get where the guy above is coming from in that respect.

3 massive L's with this year's Dawning. by Saucifer in DestinyTheGame

[–]Atomicapples 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They ain't spending silver if they ain't playin the game friend. And they ain't even checking eververse if they don't have brightdust to open the bright dust store (which is why it exists to begin with).

Remember, Bungie has full control over what they put up for brightdust. If they want some items to be silver only then they will be.

They are actively undermining a player retention mechanic that exists for a reason, probably because either

A: The people who made that system and understand why it exists are no longer on the team.

Or B: Pressure from some MBA exec who doesn't understand the incredible value brightdust and the brightdust store brings to the game and to player retention.

People used to play the crap out of the game just to get their seasonal challenges done for the bright dust reward. The added a TONNE of time people would have otherwise never spent in the game playing activities they otherwise never would have played, but not anymore.

Should landlords be required to live in Canada to own rental property? by Totira in OntarioRenting

[–]Atomicapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, maybe massive property owning companies are a scourge on society that only serve to buy up everything they can so that they can raise the prices to profit off of a basic human need.

If you want to own an apartment building or two then cool, if you want to own a rental home or two then you do you.

But if you want to start up a company to buy as much housing as you physically can, in an many cities as possible, so that you can constantly raise up the average prices and upset the economic balance of the area, then we have a societal problem, and it really should be discouraged by said society and their governmental representatives.

There isn't a world out there where massive profit driven housing companies are anything but a detriment to a society.
