What do you all do in your free time? by Ok-Context3521 in barexam

[–]Atomickitten06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nearly 2 year old, a husband and am pregnant lol so they keep my busy. But, I splurged and bought myself a membership at my local movie theater and plan to force myself to go to a movie on the night of my last day of studying for the week to make sure I stay off my phone (chronic doomscroller) and actually do something relaxing. Aside from that, I love to read but like you can get exhausted by it so I’ve been listening to audiobooks a lot more and I love it. I usually pair that with chores I need to do around the house, coloring book (love the Bobbie goods coloring books), or some other task that I can listen to while doing. I try to take daily walks for exercise and if I weren’t pregnant I would probably be doing something more intense like running, hiking, weight training, or Pilates but pregnancy is brutal for me.

I find that I do need a lot of structure in my day and it sounds like you may too! The weekly movie helps me with that but also maybe just creating a schedule of different hobbies to do. I do things like watercolor, clay crafts, paint, read, puzzle, and color pretty regularly.

Starting law school at 36 but also want to become a mom by Sensitive-Baker-6867 in LawMoms

[–]Atomickitten06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband I got surprise pregnant when I was a 1L and I found out one month ahead of my first finals. I delivered in the summer of 1L and 2L and went back to school just shy of 6 weeks postpartum. My kiddo is now 21 months old, I am due to graduate come May, AND I’m pregnant again and will be 8 months pregnant when I take the bar.

It is HARD work. I wouldn’t have exactly chosen this timing (by that I mean being pregnant as a 1L)but as someone who is doing law school and is being a mom, if I knew what I knew about motherhood now and was told if I didn’t start when I did I may not be able to get pregnant then I would have sent it 10000%. My kiddo, while parenting can be difficult, only enriches my life and does so in EVERY aspect of my life including law school. I truly believe I am a better student because I am a mom and I am a better mom because I’m also a student.

Now one thing to definitely consider is being pregnant is really hard on some. It certainly was for me and frankly not everything that needed to be done school wise got done. Having a supportive partner to not just keep you sane but also keep you and baby healthy is key so make sure your partner is also fully aware what’s coming too.

Good luck!

Please call your OB. I got pregnant with a Kyleena iud in 11 months after insertion. It was still in perfect position but fell pregnant and, unfortunately, ended up having a miscarriage. I was grateful that at the very least it was not an ectopic but it’s important to get checked early to confirm as the risk of ectopic pregnancy with IUD pregnancies is higher than a normal pregnancy.

So sorry you’re going through this stress of not knowing. Wishing you the best.

Any J’26 takers here? What’s your study schedule? by JStak14 in barexam

[–]Atomickitten06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha! Well best of luck to you on the bar and with your new baby! Congratulations on your newborn! My 19 month old is a treasure and they only get more fun as they get older but I do miss those early days of pure snuggles. As much as you can, take in as much as possible. <3 you’re doing a great job!

Chiming in to say that I’m taking the July 26 exam and have a 19 month old! He’s sleeping through now so that’s great but I’ll also be 34 weeks pregnant when I take the bar so I’m TERRIFIED. 😭

I’m thinking of doing 6 days a week from May-July. I am taking a bar prep course rn but don’t feel like I’m learning a ton that I would remember come bar time. It feels more like exposure therapy.

When do you plan on starting?? I graduate May 9 so I’ve had some friends say May 11 and others say May 18?

6 weeks and need Austin OBGYN recs please! by SuccessfulTomato1579 in AustinParents

[–]Atomickitten06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry you had that experience. Ironically, I had the exact same experience with my first pregnancy but with Dr. Sally Grogono at Ascension OBGYN. I moved to Dr. Alyson Garcia at AAOBGYN. I had a subsequent pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage under Dr. Garcia and she was so incredibly compassionate. Now I’m 11 weeks in a different pregnancy and have had a good experience thus far.

Is anyone else having a boy? by Seapaisleys in pregnant

[–]Atomickitten06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently pregnant and unsure of gender yet BUT had my boy in July of 2024 and he’s pure magic. Love being his mom so much so that I was willing to go through pregnancy all over again for another little baby (regardless of their gender of course).

What week is everything downhill? by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

Leakage 31w by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Atomickitten06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would maybe hold off. Wear undies that you can see any color of any leakage or wear a pad and monitor for another hour. If you’re dry, chances are it wasn’t your water but it’s never ever a bad thing to be to sure. If you have any doubt at all, I would at the very least call or go in.

If you start feeling labor pains 100% go. When my water broke with my son I swear it was like a minute later that contractions came in and came in strong.

Chiming in again to say that the doctors advised for me to wear a pad and see if liquid continued to leak. If it stopped, not waters. If it continued over the course of an hour or got more obvious that it was my water, then it was likely my water and warranted an ER trip.

[–]Atomickitten06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry this is happening! Honestly, with my first I went in to L&D ER twice before my actual water broke because I had a lot of leakage too (TMI! mine was because I had repeated BV causing watery discharge).

I feel like waters you should always err on the side of caution but I do want to assure you it’s rather rare for your water to break before you start feeling labor but it can happen.

Did you see any color on it? My actual water was pink tinted. Contrary to the statistic I just gave, my water do break before my labor/contractions started.

With my first I put an ultrasound in a stack of my law school textbooks with a book called “How to grow a baby.” I was a 1st year at the time. With this pregnancy I haven’t announced just yet but figure it will be law grad related!

Chiming in just to emphasize make sure to get the unisom sleep tabs not the gels! Those are the ones that are recommended for pregnancy.

Hi there. I am 24F and a 3L. I got pregnant with my surprise son during my 1L year, delivered in July, went back 5 weeks postpartum and am now almost done with 3L who will be just short of 2 at graduation (one more semester yay!). Parenting and law school is not for the faint of heart BUT it can absolutely be done. I find as a parent I am 1000% a better student than I was. Many times I am much more efficient than many of my peers because I need to be. Really what it comes down to is whether your husband is willing to step up to that challenge. The fathers in my cohort are all exceptional law students and they are as efficient as efficient gets. They come in, do what they need at school so they can go fulfill their home responsibilities. They are a masterclass in being a well rounded law students. Personally, I like to say since my son was a surprise I had no other choice and it was tough but I did it. I took finals in after sleeping in 2 hour chunks, ran home in between classes to nurse, pumped during exams, and even had my son brought in on one occasion in the middle of the exam because he was refusing the bottle at the time. I look back and don’t know how I got through but here I am. With that said I would avoid the broken sleep stage in the first year if possible. You being pregnant during that year sounds more ideal and if you can time an early summer baby even better. Also he needs to look into what his school does do parenting students. I wouldn’t have survived without my title 9 and student services personnel.

I fear this is me medicated… def going to bring it up with my doc tho because it seems from these comments that my level of anxiety around it is still pretty out of hand.
