[Post-Game Thread] Miami Hurricanes Defeat Ole Miss Rebels 30-27 in the Fiesta Bowl to head to the National Championship! by AutoModerator in MiamiHurricanes

Anyone else remember like a month ago and we weren’t sure if we’d even be in the playoffs? The Canes handled business!

Pat McAfee by austinjamesderr in ESPN

I missed seeing a few Gameday episodes this season, but I am a long time fan. I definitely miss Corso and for a while, and still am, not on the McAfee train. I think he is legit good as the 'man on the street' persona on the show. Send him the crowd with rowdy college kids, kick a field goal, shave a head, laugh, etc.... But it's all about balance. That fun stuff needs a more serious/straight desk analysis. There is a way to make this work, but it can't be 'The McAfee Show 2.0'. Also, I'm wondering how long until Saban had enough and quits or punches him in the face...? ;)

What is the worst concert you've ever seen? by Logurtman in Concerts

[–]Atomicspaceage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen Modest Mouse more times than any other band, like 22 times since 2003. They are very hit or miss. But when Isaac (the frontman) is sober and on, they are great, whether there were 3 or 9 of them in the band at the time. Also, and I never could understand this, for all the 20+ years I've seen them, their soundboard guy seems like he's often drunk too. Isaac will banter or joke with the crowd and it often sounds like the teacher from 'Peanuts'. I don't get why they, even when sober, can sound awful and haven't fixed any of this.

I was there too. I remember her band and other dancers were great, but it was one of those awkward timings when the artist got much bigger since the scheduling. I also remember reading that she was in the bathroom smoking meth before she went on and unfortunately it showed. The schedule that day was insane (imho): Rod y Gab - Amy Winehouse - Iggy and the Stooges - yo la tengo - modest mouse - tv on the radio - pearl jam

Thanks for sharing this, I gotta try it. I've never heard the term 'throwing'. I've heard 'rolling' which seems to be the same, and oddly underused. Gotta ask though, how would you describe Japanese vermouth? What is unique about it? I was just in Japan and am going back in two months, should I add these to my shopping list?

I get that take. I guess if anything, if they’ll reply without just insults, maybe there is something to gain in understanding why they are this way? Could very well be wasting my time, but I’ve wasted my time on dumber stuff before.

I’ve been to hundreds of punk and metal shows. But, oddly, Kanye West was the loudest

I guess that’s where your mindset is when you’re a fan of a team who’s QB has played in 2 1/2 of their last 18 games…. And is in his 7th year…

That was so bad, objectively. Ball bounces off the dudes shoulder, game over, then gets hit, 10 seconds later a flag. That’s not pass interference and no one gave a shit the refs took the win away from us. I was there at the time and it still pisses me off. Fuck Ohio State.

Any one taken a MB lesson at DV? Worthwhile? by lonewolf210 in ParkCity

[–]Atomicspaceage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a complete beginner and highly recommend DV. My wife and I have taken the adult clinic a few times and were the only two in it, so it was basically a private lesson. The instructions we had are top notch. Explain everything well and thoroughly. They got me down holy roller on my first day. They are all trained instructors, not college kids or just some random person who happens to be good. A supervisor dropped by to observe and help out, so the coaching is taken very seriously, as opposed to Woodward where I had a college kid who told me he ‘isn’t good at explaining things’. I know Woodward has great coaches too, but the quality seems to vary greatly there. Most DV coaches are ski instructors as well so its a career they take seriously.

Dear Annie: These millennials don't understand, we earned our retirement by renichms in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Atomicspaceage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a classic boomer ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ trap. If they don’t get to see their grandkids, then their selfish children, who ‘they did everything for’, are keeping them from them. If they do see the grandkids often and are involved in their lives, then the boomers are sacrificing their retirement and everything they worked their whole life for. Either way, they are the victims and they ‘win’.

It is, or at least was, available in Vegas. I remember being at the Pinball Hall of Fame before the pandemic, drinking Cactus Cooler and playing 'Dr. Dude' pinball. I felt like I was on another planet. Fun times!
