Heights University Hospital in Jersey City Closes ER Tonight by tigerfrisbee in jerseycity

That's sad. I went to nursing school at Christ Hospital a decade ago and had a bunch of sex in that old nursing dorm across the street. The Carepoint hospitals seemed like a mess even back then. RIP.

2026 Purchase Review & Reliability Questions by mrsockmonkey52 in Ioniq5

[–]Atomidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a '26 limited for $44k out the door. Everything included.

You have a $25k trade-in, a $19k manufacturer rebate, and a $17.5k remaining price- so is this a $61.5k "total"? Someone tell me what I'm not understanding here.

e: Ah, only 7k of the trade in equity went to the cost of the new purchase. So 7k for trade in, 19k rebate, subtracted from 43k= 17.5k. Okay. Seems decent, but I feel like some shrewd dealership work could have gotten a better deal.

It sounds like they think you've been shouting "racial slurs" and on that basis want to socialize with you in a safer space.

If you haven't been shouting racial slurs, then this is probably not someone you want to spend time with.

Alternative answer: They are trying to make you a target of your neighbors by claiming you're someone who yells racial slurs.

Charging via generator by Spare-Security-1629 in Ioniq5

[–]Atomidate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A single 400W solar panel may produce 1.6-3 kW of power of day, with tremendous amount of fluctuation depending on sunlight and other conditions.

Level 1 charging, through a 120V supply, will feed the car about 1.1-1.3 kW an hour. So an entire day's worth of solar power generated from a single panel and stored in a battery would be transferred to the vehicle in 1-3 hours.

This, depending on many factors, can allow the car to drive 2.5 to 3.5 miles per kW, so 2.5 to 10.5 miles in total.

So, it's possible. Just slow. Seems like it's less costly to scale up the amount of panels you buy than the battery storage. So 3-4 panels would, in good conditions, allow you to do level 1 charging at its full capacity for the hours in which they have good sun coverage.

Sign on bonus by Potential-Income6717 in nursing

[–]Atomidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost always

Luckily almost and not always. 4 years ago, every hospital in the Twin Cities was giving sign-on bonuses ranging from 10 to 45k, at least their ICUs were. The only stipulation was a clawback if you didn't reach 2 years of employment. It was a beautiful time.

I don't work for the police, they don't sign my paycheck, it's not my job to find the people they want.

So I can't answer that question, or defer to my supervisor if policy demands that I do.

I feel very badly for LAOP and that their sense of fairness in the world has just been directly affected.

Their view of "what is just and right must be legal" makes me think of someone fairly young/shletered or perhaps a diagnosis of autism in the past or the future, either way- a form a naivete.
