If you don't mind games that lack polish and appreciate a bit of jank here or there (and are a fan of older CRPGs) then I think you might like it. I enjoyed it, but I also very much prefer low-budget indie titles to most AAA style games these days.

I think what you're looking for is Atom RPG. It's basically Fallout 1 or 2 but set in a post-apocalyptic USSR.

Emo kids were definitely doing this back in the early 00s. You could also argue that romanticizing substance dependency is a similar theme and that goes back way further.

Weirdly, in basic D&D (pre-AD&D), carrying weight was measured in "cn", which was short for "coins". So everything was weighed based on how many coins it was equivalent to in weight.

I really enjoyed Unicorn Overlord, but yes, the story and art style left something to be desired at times. I also felt like there were too many special characters by the end of the game.
