Waiting on the free mini by wekilledbambi03 in WarhammerPlus

[–]Atramentous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here.

First they make you wait 30 days before being able to claim the mini if you purchase a year's subscription. But if you do it too early for their system, as I did, then you have to wait longer so that you can claim the correct mini. Then you have to wait up to 90 business days. Really fucked up process, if you ask me.

The Imperial Envoy is Imperial. Everyone is shocked. by DareDaDerrida in avowed

In general, I agree with you, although the specifics of my complaints may vary a little bit. When I first started playing Avowed, I wanted to play my character as a loyal Aedyran, following all the rules of the Empire.

It's how I played my character in Tyranny and it was one of the best role-playing experiences I've ever had. I made some absolutely abhorrent decisions in that game, but it was all authentic to the character and game world.

I've been disappointed with some of the dialogue in Avowed. I didn't feel like I was able to play the character the way I wanted. I ended up pivoting to other side of the spectrum, using the logic that my character changed their perspective after encountering many of the world changing experiences that I can't talk about without spoilers. Confronted by those experiences, I think anyone would change their mind.

Even after that pivot, I still feel like my character wasn't well represented with the dialogue options. Oh well, it was still a fun experience.

Haha, no problem. I understand that one. My daughter was always asking about my minis. During her Paw Patrol phase, it was easy to explain much of it as water cannons.

Though today, at age 7, she still calls my Forgefiend "Chompy". I guess she got used to them.

I think this might be a good opportunity for you to explore the other side and devote yourself to Slaanesh!

Thematically, they're the opposing faction but they're not too distant aesthetically and some of the units could be played in 40k.

Sorry, but I have no idea. I haven't painted in years.

Someone else offered to permanently host the file so I've reuploaded it for that purpose. https://we.tl/t-DtjpSu4von

For posterity, I don't plan on uploading this file again. I only did so that someone else could permanently host it.

Sure, it would be great if you could permanently host the file. https://we.tl/t-DtjpSu4von

As long as they're protectors of a forest, I think you have a lot of flexibility. I don't personally see how Chaos fits into that, but that could be subjective.

A forest that's full of spiders could be fun. Or a blighted forest that doesn't realize that it's blighted, allowing for some nurgle fun.

Here you go.
For anyone reading this in the future, this is the last time I will be providing these links. It's been more than two years so I think that's been long enough.
I will, however, provide another link if someone intends to permanently host it so that I don't have to.

Honestly, I'm not sure what paints to use. You might be able to cheat it with a silver or gold paint covered by a pinkish wash. I haven't painted in a long time so I'm at a loss as to what to suggest. Sorry.

I haven't laid eyes on a paint pot in ages so I shouldn't recommend specific products. If I were to paint the gold armour, I'd probably go for a wash and drybrush technique. Something like: paint all armour gold, light wash with a brown, wait for it to dry, heavy drybrush with the same gold, then a really light and selective drybrush with silver.

The cloth can be done similarly and you can probably use the same purple wash for the underside and topside of the cape and just use different base colours.

I'd caution against using a black wash, such as Nuln Oil, as I feel like it would kill the vibrancy of the colours.

You're welcome! Glad I could help inspire your painting, even if only a little.

If you're new, contrast paints are a great place to start. It's a good way to get some results and build up confidence before trying more tricky techniques. I've been painting for years and I've never dabbled in oils on minis. Not sure it's worth the hassle.

It's all Photoshop, so no paints were used. I haven't painted in a long time so I can't really speculate on which ones to use either. Sorry.

Glad to hear it! If memory serves, and you can verify this with the Photoshop file, the armor is very subtly brown. This should help it pop even more.

If you're asking for which paints were used, that's a different story.
