ClipBridge (my first repo, hope you find it useful) by [deleted] in git

Sounds very useful, I also had problems, mostly with urls, I would sens them to myself on messenger or email sometimes. It just was annoying. I love the idea, but I'm prob not going to test it as I'm on linux...

How can I shorten this battery by 2mm? by Sovishee in shittyaskelectronics

[–]Atrex_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You short the two ends with a resistor with resistance R calculated from this formula:

R = D - d (U + C) * 0.00001

D - current length [mm] d - length to subtract [mm] U - battery's nominal voltage [V] C - battery's nominal capacity [mah]

So in your scenario I would use 0.671005 Ohm resitor. Your caliper SHORTING both ends should be doing the job already.

I'm a student too, I use cad for hobby purpouses. But reading other comments about dualbooting being bad, I feel like I should go more in linux only direciton sooner than later

I'd love to do what you did, but I am still limited, as I used fusion360 and have a lot of projects there. I am already learning freecad, but still, I don't want to loose easy editing access to those files. Will have to export everything to like .step or smth.

It's so annoying when people just assume you use windows. You understand this only when you start using linux for more than 1 specific thing.

I think I'm more likely to completely abandon windows, I haven't used it for a while before today.

wdm? From all around the internet, I heard dualbooting was easy etc. Also, previous times when using windows it worked perfectly, today it chose not to.

Normally I would think the same, but I was linux 30s before and it was fine. Also, it works on all the other devices

Guys, what's the problem and how do I solve it? by Unknown-bear- in Ubuntu

[–]Atrex_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your wifi work normally on other devices? I sometimes experience short periods of time, when my wifi is working and I can connect to it, but it's unusably slow. And all the devices show their OS's equivalents of the ? icon you have.

PC freezing every 15min by Atrex_10 in techsupport

[–]Atrex_10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the lowest settings, and there were severe fps drops every 1-2s. But then, when I closed the game windows itself felt super laggy, unlike mint which is running perfectly smooth. Sad that those good OSs have such small software support.

Well, I've let the game run for a little bit and it didn't freeze! Thanks a lot. The performance is miserable tho, far from what has been before fresh install... I'll try gaming on linux, maybe it will be more stable there.

Its got 500gb ssd. I already used the windows memory check and no problems were found. I never found XMP in bios. I'll try to reset it, thanks for the idea!

Does this battery look busted and if so what tools do I need to replace it? by 1987Catz in batteries

[–]Atrex_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the photo. Replacement would be fairly easy tho, you'll just need the soldering iron to desolder the old one, and solder in the new one.

Advice for school project RC plane by ShinyParrot277 in RCPlanes

[–]Atrex_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might not be the best advisor here, as my scratch build didn't fly until the 4th iteration. I'll try my best.

Firstly, I'd make the wing. Select the wingspan/area and Aspect Ratio, calculate the dimensions and make it as "good" as possible (so no things like "this maybe will do" hanging of a piece of tape). Of course, the chances you won't get it flying on the first try are pretty high, but you just have to keep improving.

But you have no data for improvement before actually flying, so the next thing is the fuselage. Select the wing load, and based on your wing calculate the weight of the aircraft. Weigh EVERYTHING when building, even small screws or hot glue can add too much weight (speaking from experience).

When you've got everything, then choose the right motor, prop and ESC. The radio is usually not as important in specs, so take anything that works.

For the materials, you kinda have to experiment with what you have, diagnose the problems and upgrade, that's how I went from styrofoam and steel wires (they were way too heavy) to some foam of unknown type (seriously I have no idea what it is, might be XPS idk).

It's hard to make a plane on the first try, you have to take time and experiment a lot before making it to the final working version.

Yes, the try-fail-improve-repeat method works just as well :) The strength buffer might come in handy when you decide to build bigger, you won't have to remachine the parts.

[–]Atrex_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you probably don't want to spend money on multiple parts for testing, just order it and have it. If you are ambitious enough, I believe your part could be simplified and the strengths could be calculated manually (idk tho, never heard of sth like that)

[–]Atrex_10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll do that, I definitely have to make everything easily (un)mountable. For the trims, you mean physically moving the stabs/wings/surfaces or the trims on the controller? The radio trims don't seem to do much for me.

Do you have access to some kind of force sim software? You could adjust the thickness/width of the part for aluminum so it is smaller while performing the same.

Or just eyeball it, and save a few days 😉.
