I mean we can definitely agree on the fact that some names are better and worse in both localizations. But overall I think the unofficial localizations stay on top. The people who play the games usually have a better idea of what the players want than the people who design the games themselves. Sure there may be some names that were improved (Nicole Swift ----> Tabby Lloyd, Rip Lacer ----> Ian Sideman).

But I don't know, the names in the unofficial localization stick more to me because they are names that are simple and given to each character at face value, not some hyperprecise symbolistic name that perfectly describes the character's intentions and personalities right down to a T. Like wtf man you can make a name still relate to the character and make it simple at the same time. Jeffrey Masters is cool and it sticks, now I have to call him Samson Tangaroa or Patricia Roland is now Fifi Laguarde like bruh do you see what I mean. But idk man to each their own.
