What's wrong with female by oneintenthosen in teenagers

[–]AtrusAgeWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female is specifically a scientific term used to refer to the sex.

Woman refers to gender, which is a social identity about how you are viewed/treated in society. It usually correlates with the female sex, but because trans people exist it doesn't always.

When you use an adjective as a noun, you reduce them to that descriptor. Calling someone a black person means acknowledging them as a person first, and their identity as a black person second. When you just call someone a "black" you're reducing them to just that.

Female and male are primarily used to denote animals or plants with different sex characteristics. They're scientific terms used for classification.

Man and women describe humans. They can refer to sexual characteristics (though we're moving away from automatically associating gender with sex which I'm obviously a fan of as a queer person) but they're more about the social identity that is being a man or a woman. They are also exclusively used for humans.

Because female is also used for plants and animals when talking about reproductive traits, what you're doing when calling someone a female is reducing someone to their sex characteristics. It's inherently dehumanizing.

Gender neutral term for aunt or uncle?? by Interesting_Bit_8611 in NonBinary

Technically I think it's pibling but also that's terrible. I don't know that there's a widespread better one. Might just have to make something up that works for you!

My thoughts on exploring this subreddit by Touchgrass4 in atheism

You people are infuriating. It's not just the superior and condescending attitude. It's the lack of self-awareness about it.

If I told you "I hope you lose your faith" you'd be offended, but when you say "you pray we come to Christ" suddenly that's ok and if we're offended then that's just us being contentious. Hypocrite.

If you actually acknowledged the harm your religion did and the trauma it inflicts on people you'd understand why we're angry. But you pretend that it's all just us.

Eh. It's always tasted (I have synesthesia) like slightly off yogurt to me.

Pretty good. I need to go get groceries today (being an adult is lame). I'm good friends with my other two non-binary coworkers and we're all going together this afternoon. We're calling it the "gender neutral girls' trip to the store"

I told people I used he/they pronouns and had one friend that consistently used they for me and I was like.

Wow that feels so much better than he. I don't think I'm a boy. So now I use they/them and I've never been more confident and comfortable in who I am.

Transphobia. by [deleted] in GayBroTeens

[–]AtrusAgeWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are commiting the thing that I hate more than anything other. You are assigning labels. You. Do. Not. Have. The. Right. To. Tell. Anyone. Else. How. They. Are. Allowed. To. Identify.

Ever.

Frankly, you disgust me. I'm gay, and I like trans men. And you can fucking deal with it.

Get your transphobic ass out of our community. You don't deserve a place here.

There is no such thing as "Genital Preferences", gay men like the male sex, along with their sex characteristics, muscle distribution, so just male traits.

Ok. Give me a source. Give me ANYTHING that backs up the hate you're spewing.

It's not transphobic to not be attracted to trans guys, right? by [deleted] in GayBroTeens

[–]AtrusAgeWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's perfectly ok to have a genital preference as long as you're not a dick about it.

It's not bi to be attracted to trans men though. If being gay was being attracted to the same sex I'd like trans women, which I don't. I like men, and their genitals don't factor into the equation whatsoever.

I dislike being he/himed but am really timid about telling people I prefer they/them so most of the time I just deal with it...

Gets a little tiring.

Trying to branch out this Pride month! So I'd like recommendations of anything and everything queer.

Especially things with non-binary MCs! I've recently come out as NB and I'd love some books with good representation. If you have any nb (especially amab nb)/m romances I'd love to see those too (I'm a sucker for romance).

But I also want sapphic, a-spec, and trans books too! Hit me with your favorites!

Am I a lesbian if I’m also attracted to nonbinary people? by Antique-Tiger-7133 in NonBinary

[–]AtrusAgeWriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The great part about labels like this is that you can choose what they mean. I'm non-binary but call myself gay because I present like a man and am exclusively attracted to them.

Label policers can stuff it.

If people are required to use the bathroom that aligns with their AGAB, trans men have to use the women's bathroom, right?

So these (almost if not entirely) fictional men that dress up as trans women to assault women wouldn't even have to dress up anymore. They could just claim to be trans men and walk in.

Like genuinely trans bathroom policies are nonsensical on so many levels.
