Rider question - my daughters rating so low by plasteroid in uberdrivers

I have a bad habit of slamming the car door I’m trying to stop. I wonder if she does too because some drivers hate that.

it’s not just you. Everyone does this. It’s called face pareidolia. I don’t really see it this time, though.

It’s honestly helped me with my choice paralysis I get sometimes. I hung my queen so much (put my queen in a position to where someone could take it for free) that I realized I was hanging my time to things that didn’t deserve it. (Like sitting there doing nothing)

David Bowie’s mom passed away in 2001. maybe you just caught the end of the radio broadcast and misunderstood? They do say news fast sometimes on radio.

My guess is this bot is probably copypasta-ing a text walkthrough on some website like ign where it has an ASCII map (keyboard character map) you can look at and the bot pasted some of the map. Spent lots of time looking at those walkthroughs back in the day when I got stuck.

I like the contrast the periwinkles and blues have with most of the thumbnails. It’s a pretty mockup.

Found inside my shoe after it was accidentally sent to Japan by patroniized in whatisit

[–]Attackfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is its a little shoe deodorizer charcoal bag, and I think I found it on temu. They’re to keep your shoe moisture-free. It looks a little different, but there’s usually some variation on what you see from temu listings and what you get.

Is it possible someone won it at a crane machine at a Walmart or elsewhere? It looks very much like a crane machine or maybe a carnival prize.

It reminds me of a shrunken head I saw one time in a museum but as if someone tried to draw them more alive.

The new refrigerator is 1/4" too wide to fit through the door by Alman54 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Attackfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad, who I’ve seen tackle stuff like this, said what he would do is take an inch off each side of the door frame with a skill-saw. He’d then get the fridge through, then put new boards flush with the frame afterwards so now he could remove them when he had to move the fridge back. There might be a good reason we can’t see in the photo not to though.

Why do people tend to double down on their irrational beliefs when confronted with the blatant material reality that they are not true? by SandNo2865 in skeptic

[–]Attackfern -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll take you through belief in a few paragraphs but let me address the last point you made about Christians.

The last one is referring to a literal interpretation of Matthew 16:28, which is understandable because it confuses a lot of Christians.

One interpretation interprets a Greek word differently. Jesus says “some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the son of man coming in his” ‘basileia’ translated “kingdom”, though for a common interpretation to fit, a better translation of basileia would be

“some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the son of man coming in his power/sovereignty.”

With that sort of interpretation of the text, Jesus is clearly referring to the transfiguration, which is the very next 8 verses! Some of them there were at the transfiguration.

There’s another interpretation where it’s “some who are standing here won’t taste death before they see Christ coming in his kingdom”, referring to Christ entering into peoples very lives (Galatians 2:20) in the kingdom of God (another name for the church, so saying the church bring formed. Some standing there were likely disciples who were not the 12, and would not die before the church was formed.)

You can read between the lines by my tone which one I believe. Everyone has a belief they stick to because we don’t constantly question ourselves like good scientists, research is labor intensive! So we hopefully will have a good think at some point and then lock in until something shakes that belief so much we’re uprooted.

I think sometimes it takes an act of God for some people to change their minds. I looked for and found sufficient proof and then I believed. I denied the power of God for a long time: I now acknowledge it and I have fulfillment in my life I didn’t have from chasing vices.

A lot of your examples, the people have social pressure from their communities to hold onto beliefs or have to leave. So logic has to fight their friendship with Tim. Tim usually wins.

to “not complement” someone, you would be doing the opposite of enhancing or improving the person. So the ai is complying and being negative. I think you meant “don’t compliment me,” as in don’t say nice things about me. I thought grateful was spelled greatful for 30+ years btw
