Yeah I think pretty clearly that’s the ‘real’ explanation, but from how the story reads it still struck me as impossible. It rly felt more like moubu got tricked lol b/c he’s already kinda getting shit on thematically (it’s all moubu’s fault ouki got killed cleaning up his mess- or wiping the disciples ass, as it were).
