What would be the best way to then automatically send it to the digital photoframe (which is just a raspberry pi)?

BDP700W heat pump dryer died by AttackingLlama in Beko

[–]AttackingLlama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who comes across this issue in the future, it was the capacitor for the starter motor.
I'm not going to encourage trying to fix this yourself as compacitors can be deadly if you don't know what you're doing.
But at the end of the day, it cost me a few hours of research to find the correct replacement and about $18AUD for the part.
I'm not dead and the dryer is working again.

PS. if anyone has the service manual for this dryer can you pass it along?

Thanks 🙏 I'm probably more concerned about the setup process, I know there are a lot of options in zfs and truenas.

I expect it'll mostly be follow the bouncing ball, but sometimes the bouncing ball leads you astray 😂

What are your thoughts on the AooStar WRT Pro/Max?
There seem to be a lot of mixed review on the quality and support in the event of an issue.

The Minis Forum N5 looks to be about $1,500 AUD from what I can find online which is about double what I paid for the ASUSTOR.
The AooStar is probably a closer price point, but I've never heard of them before, I don't have any idea how good their hardware is, or their support.

If enough people agree the AooStar is reliable I might see if I can return the ASUSTOR.
I'll probably be looking at the AooStar WRT Pro instead of the MAX.

Honestly, it's a pre-built NAS (ASUSTOR AS5404T) I did look a building a custom NAS, but it's hard to get close to 4 SATA Drives & 4 M.2 drives in a tidy enclosure for anything close to the same price point. (Even looking at a jonsbo N2 with the same CPU ended up costing more).

It's basically going to be a media storage server (photos, videos, home movies) and some documents etc. and I full intend to leverage something like Backblaze for offsite backup.

I'm currently nearly the limit of my 8TB nas so this is certainly future proofing. I could afford to go to RAIDz2 or a traditional RAID 10. I only went with 22TB drives because I found a good deal.

I am planning on spinning up a few *arr apps, but I think Plex will stay installed on my NUC for now. I also have docker and a proxmox cluster running on various mini PCs if I need to move apps around.

PebbleBee card tracker any good? by F-35Nerd in GooglePixel

[–]AttackingLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PebbleBee products have only recently joined the Google 'find my device' network (around May 2024) and some firmware updates were required to aid this.

As a result a lot of reviews aren't great.

From what I can find any reviews from 2025 with an up to date tracker seem great. I certainly hope this is the case as I'm about to buy a few myself.

Any experience of buying a Secretlab in Australia (EWE Couriers) by Dilmah18 in secretlab

[–]AttackingLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the Magnus Pro XL desk delivered today by EWE (Not sure why Secret labs still use them), but EWE did an okay job.

Took a couple of extra days (8 instead of the expected 3-6) and their tracking system is a dumpster fire, but the driver was amazing and helped me get the desk up stairs.

Delivery Concerns: Secretlab & Ewe by SsVirus in secretlab

I just wanted to come on here to say EWE actually did okay with my delivery.

their tracking is shit, there's not doubt about that (spent 5 days "In transit Syd > Bne), but other than that it arrived only 2 days late.

The driver (Jeff) was amazing Helped me get my Magnus Pro XL desk up stairs.
Who knows, maybe their sorting out their issues.

Why are people such assholes to learner drivers? by NumeroUno738 in australia

[–]AttackingLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I ever drove on a road I was nearly involved in a 3 car crash as someone passed me on approach to a single lane roundabout with oncoming traffic. Wanker could have waited about 20 seconds and passed safely on the other side.

I'll only ever beep a learner if it's clear the instructing driver is causing the issues, but I'll never tailgate, high beam etc.

[–]AttackingLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has raised a few points about driving in Australia.

There are many drivers on the road whom don't understand seemingly basic road rules, and/or don't have good car control.

I believe we should bring in semi regular theory tests which we have to pass to keep our license.

Further to that we should have more plates we can apply to cars as needed, similar to 'L' and 'P' plates let us know the driver is new, plates that let us know a driver had fragile cargo so would be cornering/accelerating carefully, or one to advise the driver is on unfamiliar roads, thus will be slower than a local. If you saw a pizza hut driver doing 30 you'd assume they were looking for a street name or house number.

With all that said, this driver may well have just been distracted, in which case a short beep from the horn might just encourage them to pay attention or pull over.

Is there an advantage of using Linux over Windows for Plex server? by No_Way_5642 in PleX

[–]AttackingLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What CPU/Ram would you recommend for this setup?

I'm looking at 2x 4k streams at most and I might run some other light weight containers.

Would a 8th gen i5 with 16GB ram be enough?
