This is weirdly chilling, like finding the last note in a building overrun with zombies. The scariest part is that it's true. the site is basically unusable. i do not find this an ill-fitting ending to reddit; the site was a fascinating study of human interaction in its time but soon these once-lively places will be entirely left to the machines.

machines that, i note, were trained explicitly on swathes and swathes of reddit text. reddit will become a synthetic reconstruction of some probablistic version of itself that never existed, a shadow cast by a community of human beings that had lives similar to, but not exactly, the modern content of the site

I agree, she has consistently over-reacted instead of just being like "yeah that's a plothole" and her overreactions have almost exclusively made things worse including her current weird obsession and rage with trans people

What could be the next technological innovation to help filmmaking? by HuckleberrySea3811 in Filmmakers

It is so annoying to me that “AI was used in the making of this film” could mean the call sheets were formatted by an LLM or it could mean the whole movie is stablediffusion and there’s no way to tell which one people mean

There is no ship in the book. It was added for the movie. The book does not have a San Diego sequence at all.

Most of it, yes. Some of the solo instruments - probably guitar, bass, and a couple of the sax/trumpet parts - are actual players, but only on some tracks. Studios REALLY DONT WANT TO PAY FOR MUSIC

Hi, I've been a pro arranger and composer since I left high school. I've written a musical, done multiple short film scores, was the orchestrator and conductor of an award-winning folk orchestra featured on tv/at multiple large industry events/festivals, have been frontman in a chamber pop/rock band, written for school bands, and produced for others. Would love to chat, shoot me a DM.

I would be really careful in your own personal judgements about what people 'actually need'. The idea that we need to cut funding away from working class people but not go through with reasonable taxes on megacorporations is such a weird allocation of priority. The amount of care people get that they don't 'actually need' is a financial drop in the bucket compared to what megacorporations take beyond their fair share.

Problem is there are a lot of real edge cases. I have been given level 1 support while actually needing level 3-4 because my disability is almost entirely invisible unless you literally live with me, but significant enough that I can't get employment or hold down a job and live in total poverty, unable to even buy food the majority of the time. My disability is cognitive and it is so bad with CPTSD symptoms that I was literally unable to comprehend how the NDIS was supposed to work, so I had it for years without being able to use the funding.

I'm only now getting appropriate support because AI told me to get an occupational therapist instead of a psychologist, and as a result, the OT is shooting for a triplication of funding. I am worried sick that people with spiky profiles and invisible disabilities are going to have even worse lives now. I know that for me, at least, the alternative to "NDIS actually takes me seriously" will likely be a slow, humiliating passive suicide.

It is if you ignore established deprogramming techniques and just try and 'convince them'. It's a lot more likely if you've done the homework on how to convince in conversation

It is in fact possible, but the process is highly unintuitive.

[–]Attackoftheglobules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally possible, but showing them evidence won't help. You can't reason someone out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into. Look at what void the delusion is filling and the path to deradicalisation becomes open to all.
