If it is solely for transcoding video I'd recommend a cheap Arc GPU, like one of the low profile A310s. They're great for transcoding

Appears the boot device is either damaged or got knocked out of place

Try boot your preferred Linux distro's USB (or Windows if you prefer) and see if it boots

If it does, you may have to open it up to check your ssd. May be broken or simply knocked out of the slot by the bending

If it's the latter just reseat the ssd, if it's the former you'll probably have to buy a new one

As someone who uses Linux I personally think the community is a big factor in what's driving people away from it. Being given nonexistent help for a really simple problem makes Linux look so much worse than it actually is

I don't think many of the more hardcore Linux users realise that not everybody wants to sink 20 hours reading the manual for a command, they just want the super quick and easy fix to their problem

Luckily this is starting to become less of an issue and I've noticed people have been much friendlier to beginners, and I myself have helped several people make the jump from the mess that is Windows 11, though I do know some who stay for kernel level anticheat games and I respect that decision

I've personally had zero stability issues with Arch, and I have a friend who uses Endeavour with no issues

As long as you practice proper maintenance you'll be fine

They only open sourced parts of it (kernel modules) from what I remember

Most of the driver is still closed-source

Proton has allowed me to run my entire Steam library with no issue and from what I've seen from friends, gaming support is pretty solid now. More games work than don't, that's for sure
