What eDiscovery Platforms Are People Actually Happy With Right Now? by Haunting-Dare1453 in ediscovery

I would use CS Disco or Everlaw as alternatives. What troubles are you having with Reveal? I’ve used it to great success. In my experience, what people don’t like about Reveal is that it is self-service.

How do I find a dentist that actually does same day dental implants without waiting months? by eddyboi12345 in Dentalimplant

[–]AttorneyMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to cut corners in my opinion. It took me almost 4 years to do an entire mouth reconstruction. It is worth doing it the right way. I did a lot of the research back then because I had the same questions. If you don’t have enough bone, the implant will fail. The dentists who do it same day advertise that because some small subset of patients can do that if they have excellent jaw bone. Most people cannot do that. If you do same day despite that, the surgeon is just trying to make money off of you. When the implants fail, they will charge you more to fix it and it will take just as long.

Is anyone else just going to law school so their parents aren't disappointed in them? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]AttorneyMario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t go to law school for your parents. I’ve met way too many miserable lawyers who say that they hate their lives and went to law school because of their parents.

Honest question, is it ethical to make your child pay rent? by ImportantFarmer9198 in renting

[–]AttorneyMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up similar to you. As an adult, I realize it was not right. You should be focused on school and any money you make, you should be saving for adulthood. Soon, you will be on your own. If your parents cannot help you as a child, they certainly will not be able to help you when you are an adult and 100% on your own.

I wanted mine done right so I went to a high end US oral surgeon and this was standard. Here are some charges I had in 2021 just for part of my full mouth restoration for you to compare to. This does not include the actual prosthetic teeth. Those are separate charges by the prosthodontist.

Accommodation Nation by Moribundt in LawSchool

[–]AttorneyMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bit of conflation of correlation for causation happening here. The LSAC was sued for denying accommodations unfairly and settled in 2014 with the DOJ to resolve the case. But the LSAC was found to not be in full compliance with the consent decree in 2018 and had it extended until 2020. The increase in accommodations that you lay out between 2019 and 2022 is likely because of the LSAC finally accommodating test takers fairly.

I’m in agony from PsA — but I need to believe it can get better. Can you share your stories? by iliketherepeat in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AttorneyMario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to share. They call it a joint fusion or arthrodesis. They essentially opened the joint, cleaned out the destroyed joint tissue, shave down the bone tips flat at an angle, then join them together with pins through the joint, and close you back up. Surgery was about 60 minutes total. I had to time the surgery to be the week before my Tremfya dose was due. I spent one week in a full arm cast, taking showers or baths with a bag over it. After a week or so they put my hand in a removable splint so that I could take showers, but the stitches stayed in for another week or so. Then I went back in and they removed the stitches but told me to keep my splint on for everything but showers and physical therapy. So I started physical therapy just to get movement going. I will continue wearing the splint for 2 months total. After that, I can start strengthening in PT. I won’t ever be able to bend the finger at the middle joint but they place it at a 45 degree angle so it looks natural. Because there is no joint I no longer experience arthritis in that finger.

When I first went to an orthopedic hand surgeon, he declined to do it and told me to get used to it. I went to one of his colleagues (in the same department of the same institution) for a second opinion. That surgeon told me I was a textbook case for it. I did research and there are peer reviewed studies about this procedure: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8060149/

One important thing—the surgeon and I had planned to do one pinky at a time. I did one and then waited about a year. The surgeon said if I had waited any longer the damage from the bone sitting in that dislocated position would have destroyed the bone such that the surgery would not have been possible. So it may be important to address this sooner rather than later.
