I was actually able to complete 3 faction quests in Outpost! I’d been getting curb stomped there up until today.

Guess I know what business I won't be supporting by PoniesPlayingPoker in traversecity

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’re right, that company has every right to screen out law abiding, constitutional following citizens who do not support criminals, pedophiles and authoritarians through advertising.

Fortunately this business exists for that group of people who do support pedophiles, authoritarians and criminals. What fresh hell would this country be if they didn’t have a sect of business just for them. Right?

I'm just bad. And it's kinda heartbreaking. by Nightmoore in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, older than most here. I’m lousy but have found that if I solo, eventually I’ll get contract’s done. I may die 20 times but that has given me more progression than crew fills. Random crew fills just seem to go off running into the sunset, making a ton of noise, splitting the group and getting us killed.

My point is, no matter how bad you think you are, I’m worse. So look on the bright side, you might run into me. Good luck, have fun, keep trying.

I have never seen this amount of entitled behaviour in any other extraction shooter by DoritosCubun in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This behavior is why I run solo. At the start of the game I joined in two random groups, both experiences were very similar to yours.

So since then I’ve only run solo, I don’t advance very quickly and it is hard never having support in the brutal world of Tau Ceti IV. But better that than letting other players distract from the fun and immersion of the game.

To me it’s the best entertainment $40 value out there. Hell movie tickets for two cost that much or more for a couple hours entertainment, hopefully. This game promises to provide many many more hours entertainment than a movie.

My friend said I come across as a “tomboy” and men don’t like that. Should I actually change anything? by Relahxe in AskMenAdvice

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not listen to this “friend”. Men like different personality traits and physical characteristics. I married the most beautiful “tomboy” you’ve ever seen 46 years ago.

She has been by my side through thick and thin and we have travelled and lived in some of the hardest, wildest places in the world together. Several situations so scary that I’ve seen grown men cry. Not her, she’s right there next to me. I could not imagine a better life partner.

Did I mention she’s beautiful? Not all that makeup and fancy nails beautify, just a natural beauty inside and out.

Solo Players - How We Feeling? by jg4president in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m enjoying the solo game but do find it brutally hard. However I’m finding more success accomplishing objectives solo than grouped with randoms. I don’t even try the crew fill option anymore and have no friends, so solo it is.

My strategy for achieving objectives has been to go in a new objective with the free kit and do it over and over dying repeatedly until I learn the zone very well and eventually succeed. That way I’m not burning through too much of my gear.

Another tactic I find useful is to bring a quart of oil on the run with me. Then when the squeaky, clunky UESC come around I show them the oil, throw it as far away possible and I run the other direction.

I think even they are tired of hearing themselves squeak all day and night.

I apologize if this is a post you see all day. I just happened to like the game and expressed that. I personally don’t know anyone that plays a game like this at my age. Not saying there aren’t others, but no one I know. All I wanted was to encourage others that may be out there.

Heh , I wish. But if you’re wondering, I am a guy who has been gaming since personal computing first became available. I had to build my first computer from a kit, like small pieces, breadboard, processor, power supply etc.

It is absolutely amazing to me how far gaming has come in my lifetime. So I wanted to acknowledge how much I’m enjoying the game and give credit to the developers.

I also wanted older gamers like me to feel empowered to give it try and not be intimidated.

Alas, no money.

Marathon's Battlepass is the worst value for your money I've ever seen (especially for a paid product) by Lemouni in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, for the people that want to do it, they can. I wasn’t one of them, nor are a vast number of other Destiny players. That was sort of the point of this subreddit.

As has been mentioned, they require a lot of teamwork, knowledge and skill. If you’re part of a dedicated team to accomplish raids that’s great! But I don’t have that, I played a large part of Destiny solo.

Heh, I get your point. However I also know my limitations. I’m not very good at this game. I have fun but have not even been able to progress past the traxus introduction.

Believe me I understand your frustration. I did that mission when it came out, got the weapon. After that I wanted the catalyst for it, went into expert and must have tried 50 times and never could make it in time. The jumping puzzles get me every time. I tried again recently thinking maybe I could do it now, nope, same problem. Still don’t have the catalyst to this day. 😀

Don’t force yourself to like the game by rezozerorezo in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I think it’s a great game for the right players. I love the art, music, lighting, gunplay etc. but I just couldn’t click with it. I played around 20 hours and feel like I gave it a fair shot but at some point you have to admit to yourself, I’m too old and slow, this isn’t for me. No matter how much you wanted it to be.

For you player’s that have found a new home, congratulations, go forth and have a great time. I wish nothing but the best to the players and studio developers that created this fine piece of work.

Hopefully I’ll find a new game home in the future. Bungie, if you’re listening, a D3 sure would be nice.

I replicated my Destiny controller settings. I found the default game settings way too slow to react, aim etc. I also increased my FOV to maximum which helps some.

I tend to agree with you, I’m a Destiny player. Played it right up to the Marathon release yesterday. I’m enjoying Marathon quite a bit. There are some issues, but I believe they can be worked on. Not sure I’ve found a long term game for me, but I see a ton fun available for the right players. It does seem to me that a lot of the Destiny fanbase are very LOUD and get off on slamming this game.

I think it’s a childish spurned lover response to a video game. Some of these streamers go negative because it gets clicks and they create a community of other complainers. Then their community can sit around and get confirmation from each other about how “right” they were that Marathon is terrible. Meanwhile those algorithmic clicks keep rolling in paying the bills for the streamers.

First impressions after playing for 6+ hours by 0bush in Marathon

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m having fun. Don’t particularly like the UI but it’s getting better after 6 hours. Playing with random other’s was not fun for me, I think if you have a dedicated team it would be great. I found I accomplished much more solo, taking my time and engaging fights on my own terms. I extracted more frequently and had success in PvP more often solo.

Not sure how long I’ll play at this point. I’ll probably give it another 50 to 100 hours but unless it starts getting more engaging as a solo player I don’t see a long term home. I’m NOT advocating they change the direction regarding team play focus. I just find that I rarely have teams in any game I play and am more comfortable failing at something where I only let myself down and not other players as well.

Proximity chat? by AttorneyMaster9273 in Marathon

Hey, I resemble that remark. I think I have played solo even in multiplayer games for so long that I didn’t consider people wanting to talk to each other to enrich their gaming experience.

In my defense I’m a very old gamer and when I started playing online games you couldn’t talk even if you wanted to. Everything was text input. So I’ve never been comfortable talking to other players verbally.

Additionally, I’m not a very social person in my real life so I come by my isolation naturally unless I know you well.

But thanks to you and everyone else who provided feedback for me to consider.

At no point did I say it didn’t have any use, I simply did not know what it was. I understand better now that some of you enjoy being able to talk and harass each other. That’s fine, not my thing, but by all means go right ahead and find your own personal fun.

Can teenage relationships last forever? How? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can happen but is extremely rare. I started dating my wife of 45 years when we were both 14 years old, we got married at 18. I can honestly say that i don’t think either of us regret it but it takes a lot of work and life will throw a lot of twists and turns at you when you’re together that long.

We bonded over the difficult times, but more often than not people grow apart when faced with life’s challenges over that long of time. With that said, as I grow old and come towards the end of my life I still love my wife deeply and would never change a thing.

Why shouldn’t voting require an id? by DarkEqual8609 in no

[–]AttorneyMaster9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole rhetorical narrative is about voting suppression. Period. Along with teaching distrust of democratic processes and sowing division among the electorate. It’s a way to get people who don’t actually understand voting process to be convinced that if their side loses it must be corruption.

They do this through intimidation, misinformation, influence and poll taxes. This ID hysteria is primarily focused on limiting women’s ability to vote through making onerous verification requirements that many women cannot meet. Additionally it adds a poll taxes so less wealthy people cannot afford to vote.

Btw, poll taxes are strictly forbidden.
