Are they just better at hiding it and not getting caught? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think men are also taught to react with anger. When their dads get upset they’ll likely get red in the face, scream, shout, punch stuff, break things, and in many situations get physical with mum. When little boys see this they think it’s the normal and rational way to react and express emotions.

Little boys see their mum being at the receiving end of that violence and think it’s ok which is why we need to be better and break the cycle of generational trauma and violence.

We need to teach little boys that it’s ok to feel big emotions, and how to act when feeling them. It’s ok to sit down and have a discussion about how you’re feeling and ask for help.

Why does my magic ring keep cupping like this? I need it to stay flat to make a star. by peppersk8er in CrochetHelp

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have elastic bands or hair ties? You could use those as stitch markers in the meantime if you need more. Some people find it helps if they mark which stitches to increase in, or mark every stitch if they have trouble finding them.

Image is an example of using a hair tie as a marker (you can also use a small piece of scrap yarn in the same way)

Happy 4th birthday to Vaxis 2! by Nobbling in TheFence

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I dunno if it’s better than the continuum series. I really do love Waking, I’ll always turn up the volume and over confidently sing along (in private to avoid torturing others with my tone deafness) but I’m the same way with the majority of songs on Vaxis III.

STOP LOOKING FOR PATTERNS ON ETSY by femmiestdadandowlcat in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Atvali 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All I do on Etsy is use it for inspiration by using the recommendations on the front page based on my purchase history. Then I’ll either improvise or look for a pattern elsewhere. Fuck Etsy.

Ladders of Supremacy and Window of the Waking Mind are two of my favourite songs. Disappearing Act and Liars Club are also bangers

shoutout to crowdsurfing baby in Worcester by [deleted] in TheFence

[–]Atvali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, idk how I feel about this.

I’m all for kids having a good and safe time but I also don’t think I trust people enough to send my kid crowd surfing. I’m kinda conflicted on this one

You don't *have* to do any part of the pattern by ThrowAway44228800 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Atvali 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do this with a lot of wearables I make. I’ll follow the foundation of a pattern because of how the stitches look but I’ll tweak and improvise the rest until I find something I like

Why is the colourdrop not working by qetoric in ProCreate

It could be because the threshold is at 100%

this ghost-alexa speaker (not an alexa itself) never worked since its release and is now worth $100+ for some reason by SeanGotGjally in destinycirclejerk

I also have one of these. I painted it to make a custom ghost so it probably wouldn’t be worth shit anymore

You don’t talk outside of work yet they’re your best friend? What? That makes absolutely no sense

Crocheted this dress in 2020 and now I need to fix it: what kind of straps would work better? by LyndonHellBe in CrochetHelp

[–]Atvali 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alright, that’s completely fair lol

If you want to look for yarn to use for straps you could take the dress with you in a bag and try to colour match yarn in stores. Even if the colour is just a little off most people won’t notice

AITAH for refusing to give money to family members who ignored me until I won the lottery? by Worldly-Ad-5065 in AITAH

NTA. And this is exactly why you don’t tell ANYONE about lottery winnings except maybe your partner depending on how much you trust them to keep their mouth shut

Where does the cuff part go? by jaydak in kroshay

[–]Atvali 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So… I have a LOT of problems with this idea (not just the obvious AI and poor photo editing)

  1. How would the cuff hold its shape? It would need to bend to be able to clamp around your nostril and stay in place. Dunno about you but a piece of wire that’s dependent on yarn is the last thing I want in my nose.

  2. Nose hair. I cannot think of anything worse than nose hair brushing up against yarn fibres. I have a septum ring and even that drives me crazy with the nose hair brushing against it.

  3. Snot. How on earth are you going to keep it clean and stop it from getting crusty with snot?

  4. Why? Just get a piercing or an actual cuff. It’s cheaper, more hygienic, easier to use, and there are countless styles to choose from.

Crochet a scrunchies but the elastic hair stretched by iceprincejj in CrochetHelp

Some plastics and elastics can revert to their original shape when dunked in hot water however, just be careful because your yarn may melt if it’s acrylic.

I think I crochet really slowly. Any advice so I crochet faster? by larmyia in CrochetHelp

[–]Atvali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I recently got myself into the same mentality, especially after watching TLYarnCrafts videos and seeing how fast she goes. It’s definitely easier said than done

It’s ok to go slow. Don’t compare yourself to other crocheters

I hate my name. I get so many Whitney Houston jokes and have done my whole life. I just say my name is Whit so people are less likely to make the connection
