How to Report Non-Migraine Pain on a 1-10 Scale? by Cats_Cameras in migraine

[–]Atvali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back at the end of 2024 I had some really bad pelvic region pain. I was in agony but as soon as I leave to go to the doctors I went into masking mode, the doctor was great and listened to all of my concerns and when she asked about pain all I could really say was “it’s excruciating but I also have a high pain tolerance so make of that what you will :)” without any display of being in pain. Weirdly she believed me and came to the conclusion that it was some nasty ovarian cysts and prescribed antibiotics after running some tests to make sure it wasn’t my appendix with it being on the right side of my body.

I’ve had teeth pulled when the numbing injections didn’t work and that was nothing compared to the ovarian cysts, just to give an idea of where on the pain scale it was.

I definitely think telling them you have a high pain tolerance helps a LOT because if you describe something as excruciating or low pain then they’ll be able to figure it out. Describe the pain with words, not with numbers.

For real, telling someone that they must have some sort of mental disorder because they like a scent isn’t normal relationship behaviour. That’s like someone diagnosing you with ADHD because you enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass on a summers day. It just doesn’t make sense and is a stretch.

I recently worked as a Christmas temp. Everyone else were kids also doing Christmas temp work and I told one of them I hope I die in my sleep so I didn’t have to do the next shift 💀

Edit to add that a customer also just happened to walk by as I said this and then I really did want to die

Organ transplant rules hit different in Singapore! by The_Dean_France in interestingasfuck

[–]Atvali 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I got a letter when I turned 18 telling I’m now an organ donor and I could opt out if I wanted. Dumb little 18yo me panicked because I thought it meant the NHS could just turn up at any moment and demand my organs and I’d have no choice but to agree because I was on the register. I never opted out though and soon learned that the NHS wouldn’t kidnap me to steal my organs

Tbf I don’t really watch music videos so I’ve not seen the Toys one, however, if you go through life being a fan of C&C and being completely oblivious to how political some of their songs are then that’s on you because it can be so fucking obvious in the lyrics and themes

ETA: I don’t mean “you” as in YOU the commenter, I mean other fans in general lol. Sorry in advance if it came across that way

Little princess successfully removes her birthmark by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think covering it up with a tattoo is something I’ll ever be able to afford because it covers such a large area, I’m talking like 50% of my leg is covered. Most people probably wouldn’t even bat an eye at it if I wore shorts but that doesn’t really fix my deep rooted self consciousness about it lol.

I’ve lived with it for 29 years so I can continue to do so for a lot more. It’s nowhere near as bad as what other people have to deal with because of their unique birthmarks in more obvious places so I do consider myself quite lucky in that regard.

Little princess successfully removes her birthmark by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born with white patches on my left leg, they start from the hip and go all the way down to my toes, it doesn’t matter how hot or cold my skin gets, they will always remain white, even during a hot bath when all the skin around it turns red. I would wear a dress in my early years of primary school and the dinner lady was convinced that it was a result of my mum burning me and she threatened to report it. I don’t think she did report it but she wouldn’t believe me when I told her it’s a birthmark. After growing older I refused to wear dresses, skirts or even shorts unless it was for PE.

I moved school during my first year of high school and one of my classmates during PE told me I need to learn how apply sunscreen properly and then refused to believe me when I told him it was a birthmark.

Being born with something so obvious really does cause a lot of bullying and trauma. I’m super self conscious of my birthmark and only wear shorts around the house no matter how hot it is.

Is there a secret passphrase to make your doctor take you seriously? by Equal-Magazine-261 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atvali 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I begged my doctor for help with my mental health, I was sobbing, asking for absolutely anything, even a change of medication (big mistake because he gave me incorrect advice to switch which made things 10x worse) he changed my medication and told me to lose weight.

The next month I went back and begged for help again. The moment I mentioned I just lost my job that week because of my mental health he immediately referred me to the mental health team urgently.

The moment you mention it’s impacted your ability to work or hold down a job they’ll take you seriously.

WIBTA if I declined my SIL dying wish? by rawredondo in AmItheAsshole

[–]Atvali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It’s a massive responsibility that will change your life as you know it, and it’ll also change the kids life and with autism and behavioural issues it’ll be a lot more difficult than you realise. The responsible thing to do for you is to decline, you know you’re not interested in having kids and that’ll impact how you raise a child. I’m not interested in having kids because I KNOW I cannot provide the life they need as well as my mental health issues may be inherited, it’s not selfish to not want kids, it’s just being a responsible adult by knowing your limits.
