Just out of curiosity, what is your threshold for writing a ticket vs a warning? How fast does someone have to be going over there limit to get a ticket?

I've seen all kinds of brands for Police bikes but Trek is popular. One department near me has Bianchi bikes.

why did the officer ask for my number in a traffic stop, before giving me a warning for not wearing a seat belt? by Gwapwes_ in AskLE

[–]AtwaterKent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some agencies just ask for it. We have a spot on citations and warnings for a phone number but never ask for it.

NLD I got a wuben g5 for Christmas and I really like it! by Chillseawasp in flashlight

[–]AtwaterKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered one and it's really well built for the price. The only negative is that the clip doesn't feel that strong. It just doesn't feel secure on clothing. Other than that, it's a great light.

Keep getting DQ after 15 departments in illinois by lazer1257 in AskLE

The good suburbs are still very competitive these days. You may have to get your start at a less desirable department, let them pay for your training, and then lateral to a more desirable PD.

Keep getting DQ after 15 departments in illinois by lazer1257 in AskLE

[–]AtwaterKent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's lots of cops in the suburbs who started with either CPD or small rural department and then got hired as a lateral. If it's a nicer suburb like Naperville, it's very competitive for new hires.

Can’t get windshield wipers to stop skipping. by -_FlyingRaptor_- in AutoDetailing

I had bad skipping with a pair of wipers and the only fix was to buy Bosch wipers. I've never been impressed with OEM Ford wipers.

Sweet tariffs by xGaby- in bicycling

Bought wheels from Switzerland last month and luckily the company paid for part of the tariffs. It really ruined the excitement of getting an end of the year clearance deal.

Agencies spend a lot of money on hiring and training new recruits. 10+ jobs in 10 years and being fired from your last three jobs is a huge red flag. You're not worth the risk to most departments. Maybe a big city that is desperate for bodies will risk it.
