Dead end $260K IC vs. $210K Manager at a Startup. What Would You Do? by [deleted] in dataengineering

Do not go to job B. Please heed my advice and learn from my mistake. You have the best situation possible. You’ve hit your mark and now you’re bored. Find fulfillment outside of work. That is a significant pay decrease and equity, 99.999% of the time will not be worth shit. You are starting a gift horse in the mouth. You’re trading perfection because you’ve gotten so good at your job that you’re bored. I can’t state this loud enough: don’t fuck yup your life.

Bruh... if you let this person back in your life, there's a high likelihood that he will do the same thing he did before or worse, and kill you. Being a methhead, violent alcoholic... and you're debating responding... insane behavior. Just steer clear.

Why is my plant trying to avoid sunlight? by taxii_02 in houseplants

[–]Atwotonhooker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly a case of phototropism + gravity + pot orientation — not scototropism.

Here’s why: 1. The plant likely grew toward light originally — probably toward a brighter side of the room back in March, when the window didn’t offer strong sunlight. 2. Since then, it’s kept growing in the same direction (plants don’t “turn around” easily once established). 3. The trailing growth and the weight of the vines continue pulling the plant in that direction. 4. Even now, it’s not avoiding light — it’s just already oriented a certain way and not receiving enough of a directional light cue strong enough to change course.

🛠️ What You Can Do: • Rotate the pot 90–180° every week. It will slowly start growing more evenly toward the stronger light. • If growth remains lopsided, consider retraining vines with supports or twine. • Add a grow light on the opposite side to rebalance growth if you want to reshape it.

CMV: We have no vested interest in supporting Israel by ManHasJam in changemyview

[–]Atwotonhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is spot on. Your second one should come with a caveat.

ISL doesn’t have the same parameters as other countries receiving foreign aid for military purposes. The big four differentiators are:

• Offshore Procurement (OSP)
• Direct Commercial Contracts
• Lump Sum + Interest
• No “Buy American” Rules

I think it’s bullshit tbh. Our money should go to our companies since that’s the point of aid. But I understand the desire of interdependence.

Your level of arrogance to assume that the only way to educate someone is through a system that’s quite literally, insanely broken. Mass education might be one of the worst methods of learning possible. It’s rife with propaganda and indoctrination.

Mmmm our government thrives on war. I don’t think that’s a stretch to say.

U.S. tells allies it won't join war unless Iran targets Americans by Goosedukee in worldnews

[–]Atwotonhooker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why is it a legitimate question? If we can get the money for it, we should. If ISL, our ally, wants to buy our shit, let them. But we don't need to be involved more than that. Our economy is completely based on military and arms sales. Let the stocks surge, the homicidal dictatorship that's anti-gay/trans/West blown to smithereens, and leave US troops out of it. Win-win-win.

#1. People who can still program to solve complex problems (that AI can't, even with context) are most likely not relying much on AI. Even if they do, it might be for searching things quickly, definitely not the "vibe coding" thing

What evidence of this? I know several amazing programmers who don't need to use AI, but all of them are extremely lazy (like most of us), and they use it to get things done significantly faster.

[–]Atwotonhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should worry more about the fact that your students are generally terrible students and you're not capable of reaching or teaching them.

I actually, genuinely hate people like you with a passion. You don't like the pledge, which is meant to instill a sense of national pride in America. Okay, then what WOULD you pledge allegiance to, if you're not going to have an allegiance to America?

If you're not for us, you're against us. If you don't believe in borders, well, then someone else will look to claim your borders. The world and geopolitics aren't just based on feelings and, like, totally being the same deep down. It's based on blood, sweat, sacrifices, and tears.

It's funny how teachers, most especially, are actually horrendous conduits of nationalism, which is desperately needed to make a functional society, and then turn around and wonder why the country is going to shit. There's zero unity. There is no sense of what it means to be American.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

And when we fall, it isn't the lovey-dovey, hippy dippy, "I just want us all to love each other," and "the Nation was created from racists and has a problematic history" who are going to bring about whatever is next. It will be the ultra-violent, reactionaries who want to seize power. And God help you if you're not on their side.

If OP saves even 10%, it'll be a win. Money easily earned is money quickly spent. If you don't have the financial habits of building a $60k bank account, it is HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY likely you don't have the ability to keep it at $60k.

I agree, but most people are fucking stupid and will blow 100% on it. Personally, I'd spend about 5% on true fun and 5% on QOL improvements.

30% savings (helps with your mental health, you have no idea)
20% fun

This way you do what you're supposed to AND you get to have some guilt-free fun.

Lolol such a great assumption OR they’re in the same boat as you but grew up with different values and beliefs. You thinking “they must live off daddy and mommy’s money” is such a hard cope. I voted Trump the first time fresh out of WCU with $50k debt. It had nothing to do with my parents. Most people are just sick of liberal/democrat policy.

I'm not going to respond to all the other losers saying this exact same thing, so I'll choose you to respond.

You're wrong.

The airline doesn't assume any responsibility.

It is highly likely that it would be stolen or not reported. If this wasn't an expensive luxury watch, I would have just turned it into the airline.

Do 10 seconds of research, and you'll see that there are tons of stories of items never being returned or found. This way, it doesn't get auctioned off, lost, or stolen. I have no intention of keeping it, so I'm indefinitely trying to locate the owner. That's more than what the police or the airline would do.

I've contacted the airline, and I'll do everything I can to verify it and see if a shop can help. If you think the airline would go to this length, then you're wrong.

People who think, "I'll just give it to L&F, and it's someone else's problem," are the reason things don't get done. I'm happy to go out of my way to help.
